Nick, watching the video of you sleeping (or trying to) convinced me I had to take my sleep apnea seriously. Thank you and your lady for posting these videos.
@tobywinter1 I couldn't be happier that you had a breakthrough in regard to the way you feel about sleep apnea. It's one of the scariest things to experience and watch. Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. I wish you the best in your CPAP therapy. I know it's not always easy, but it's so worth it. Keep me posted, okay?
Just went for my sleep study last night, my tech came in my room in the morning and said from what he's seen, he's pretty sure ill be coming back for a CPAP fitting. Said he's seen worst, but I was pretty bad.
@nelinel78 Good for you for getting the sleep study done! I'm super proud of you! Just make sure you get fitted well and be compliant in your therapy. It's soooo important

@smarianne Hey did great! His study revealed that he had over 160 episodes in an hour. The doctor was shocked! He has a CPAP machine now and is doing sooo much better!
I am about to get this sleep study done. I was told I have the weirdest snore like I am gasping for air. This may be the cause of my having seizures in my sleep at times.
I did the two sleep studies. The fist one without the mask confirmed my inability to sleep. I had over 400 interuptions over a 5 hour span and at one point stopped breathing for 45 seconds. The 2nd study I used the mask that covered the nose. It took about an hour to get used to it and fall asleep. The technician said I slept well. I got the mask and have to get the machine in two weeks. Looking forward to some sleep relief.
@Yalf111 So sorry that I haven't posted an update! I will take video of him sleeping with his machine on -- and do a short interview with him so he can discuss how he feels now! Thank you!!
I've had my CPAP for 2 months and it is the best thing ever. I have more effective sleep. I feel rested and energized when I wake in the AM and most importantly I have lost weight (12lbs). Your body will produce lower levels of cortisol when using the CPAP since your body is getting sufficient oxygen.
you should go in for the cpap treatment, it is very important to your health to be treated, otherwise health issues will keep building up if untreated.
@Hitori521 My aunt and uncle have always said that when it's time to sleep -- I just picked it up from them. : ) They are happy to know that you say it too!! : )
Kbbcoop they scheduled for me to take a sleep study in a few weeks. I wish it could THIS WEEK. I lost one job because of this apnea and now my 2nd job is already tired of telling me to get up from my desk and walk off the drowsiness.
Good luck with that, they told me I was stopping breathing like 140 times an hour or something crazy like that. I now sleep with a CPAP and it has done wonders. no more tiredness and naps after work.
if he has sleep apnea (which he most definitly does as indicated by the list of symptoms he gave) his upper airway collapses during sleep thus obstructing his breathing and constantly disrupts sleep. This is treated with CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) thereapy. A nasal mask is worn while sleeping. Air is passed from the CPAP machine through the mask creating positive air pressure to keep the airway open for proper breathing.
i have had 3 sleep study's done.. they suck.. i looked like i had a bomb taped to my body :( they put all these wires on you and tell you to sleep .. it sucks lol i feel for ya

Love the waking up 20 times to pee, LOL! And the heartburn too.
I've found that since using my CPAP machine I no longer have heartburn and can sleep through the night without having to pee all the time.
I also notice I dream more, which depending on the dreams are a good thing, but can be odd as well, LOL!

Whats a sleep study?
tylgirl222 4 years ago
It's when a techician monitors your sleep all night to see if you have any sleep disorders, most often, for sleep apnea.
tellysarmy 4 years ago
@tellysarmy exactly correct!

@tylgirl222 When a technician observes you while you sleep -- and measures different things.
