  • They dramatize the "spin out" at 1:02... As you can see, he doesn't even attempt to counter steer because the wheels are still turned left even after the spin has started... It's clear that they are pushing propaganda to justify the winter tire law in Canada so they can keep fining people to generate revenue. RIGGED.

  • To the idiots that think it's fake, put a pair of Blizzaks or Conti Extreme winter contacts on next time it snows. It turns your vehicle into a snowmachine instead of a slip sliding hazard machine. I have a winter set of wheels with Extreme winter contacts that go on in a week or so and stay on until april. The rest of the year i use Conti Extreme contact DWS. I live in the mountains and this is common practice. Tourists with all-seasons sliding off mountain roads are a dime a dozen here.

  • If the black truck cranked the wheel the other way and gave more gas he would have been out of that slide and made the turn at 1:00

  • Conclusion is that in the black truck is more fun.

  • was it just me ?, but the "non winter" black truck had to drive on compacted snow during braking test and got the "outside" corner for handling test ! - do it again guys and let us see the real diffrerence using identical conditions !!

  • the first test for braking is exaggerated, you can see the black truck's tires still moving quite rapidly, even with abs. The driver braked much later.

  • How many of us will tackle a corner like that in the snow anyway?

  • For those who think it was driver experience that made the difference, how do you explain the braking test? With ABS and Traction control, you just put the brake pedal to the floor, and let the car do the rest.

  • Counter steer you dumb ass!!!

  • Yeah if I had a spare grand just laying around then sure, I would get a winter tire/wheels !! But then I would have to buy some of the tools to get the wheels on, plus I would have to have a place to store it and room to put it on... All-seasons do fine in the winter if you know what you are doing, just make sure you dont have summer tires on then you should be fine ! :)

  • Honda Ridgeline with AWD is also bundled with Active Stability Management and Traction Control. Basically you have to point where you want it to go and the computer is supposed to do it for you if you can. The second you start countersteering you start fighting the truck. I agree to countersteer, feather the throttle... maybe even kick out the rear end and give her a little gas to save it as long as you aren't fighting a computer.

  • I will assume that this video assumes the average driver to be inexperienced. The guy in the black truck turns left and then more left after he slides - of course he spun around, sometimes you just have to turn the wrong way to go the right way.

  • ok, im still all for winter tires and have a pair on some spair wheels in my basement. but from :50 to 1:05, the black truck didnt make much of an attempt to counter steer.

  • Winter tread keeps you ahead.

  • A turbo subaru and studded winter tires keep you WAY ahead.

  • But mine are non union tyres!

  • Actually, the newer generation studless winter tires perform better than studded tires - no kidding.
