Cat's aren't carnivores, they're omnivores. They need to eat some roughage to have a healthy diet. That's why your cat was trying to eat the grass (also why he tries to eat the tops of pineapples). It's cute, but he's lacking vitamins. I tie a handful of grass up with a bread tie every once in a while and give it to my inside cats. It makes a mess but they really enjoy it. I'm sure yours would too.

I live in Oklahoma too! We have four "inside" cats and they haven't seen snow very much either! My son picked the cats up and put them in a snow drift deeper than they are tall. The poofed tail was all you could see. I told him not to do it on the first one and went back in the house with the cat. Then, when I wasn't looking, he took all the rest of the cats out and did the same thing! He was evil! :-P
