I bought each volume of 12 kingdoms as it came out on dvd back in the day, and I couldn't wait. Still my favorite anime.

The books are worth reading if you love the anime. Fuyumi Ono is an awesome writer.

whoever made this rocks! And for people who haven't seen it, it rocks. Not very faithful to the books but the general ideas are all there and yoko is one of the bravest heroines in anime. The book is a horror story but the anime is a coming of age story.

@FateRegios Maybe the first couple episodes but most people become addicted to it by the 6th or so episode when there is a huge character development in the main character and a big plot reveal.

It also seems like a weird horror-gothic fantasy but it's not, so anyone who's turned off by the grotesque designs of the creatures or whatever, don't be. It;s a really solid story.

Tai Kingdom story is very good. too bad we don't have the end storie of that arc.

5/5, just an excellent video. The music is great, ties in well with the shows' mood and atmosphere (and it is great in general. I'm adding it to my Zune). the Editing and the cuts are very well done. Yes! Yes!! Finally somebody else says it! This series is on a completely different level from Fushigi Yuugi. It's not even the same genre as far as I'm concerned! It's like comparing Cowboy Bebop to pokemon, or something similarly absurd. Twelve Kingdoms is the sort of series that actually helps you grow as a person. The characters have real depth. It annoys me when people mention it in the same breath as that trashy anime Fushigi Yuugi. How did that comparison even get started??

Fushigi sucks it's so shallow in every sense of the word.The characters all suck and it's too perverted,and the romance goes WAY to fast.Miaka is the worst female character I've ever seen.If you like 12 Kingdoms,check out Saiunkoku Monogatari. :)

did you know that in the beginning- the opening credits of th show all that stuff is symbolic

the battle could have been any number of battles and the youma were the youma the kirin of kei(keikei) has. except for the snake i think the kirin of En owns that one. then when it shows the picture of all the kingdoms they have all shapes inside them. all golden except for the one in the far top right corner. that is the black kirin from a couple of the episodes they did a whole like 5 shows xplanin it

I esspessialy love 12 Kingdoms, because un-like most anime and manga that center around love and romance, this ones about lifes journy and lessons one needs to learn, like what Suzu learned, that life is half happiness and half hardship, and what the ex-princess of Hou learned, that we all have to work for what we get, and that we all have our own responsibilities, and the more important the role, the more responsibilities....Those are only a few reasons why i love this anime! :P

I liked this vid alot major style points. As to the series ending early I think they chose a good place to end it because all of the main characters' stories had been told. I would like to see another season set 200 years later in the 12 kingdoms showing how yoko had grown maybe an OVA would work better for that but yeah other than that I really thought they did a great job on the series.

it's several books of which I've only read the first. It's not very good imo and it's alot different from the anime. I liked the story more in the book but the actual craftsmanship was low. I suspect the later books could be really good though.

That is a great video. I love 12 kingdoms! It's considered "old" by current standards (probably why it's hard to find stuff on it) but it is definately one of the best I've ever watched. I became hooked after renting a couple of the dvds and had to buy the collection! Nice find on the video. :-)
