  • just spectacular....and even regardless of the magnificent high E....even without it it would have been great

  • DIVINA

  • I've heard Natalie Dessay say (accidental play on words... hmm) that Joan Sutherland was a better singer than Maria Callas... screw that shit, I can sing along with: Joan Sutherland's, Janis Joplin, Jussi Bjorling, Bon Scott, Rob Halford, you name it; but I currently cannot sing along with Callas' prime year stuff 51-53 (for sheer power, decibal levels and notes combined). Maria's voice from her prime, is the best ever voice that's been recorded and can be listened to, plain and simple.

  • @aquatiger1987 Yeah I agree with you. That Dessay interview is waay off. She forgot to mention how Maria Callas had better technique than any soprano of her time and singlehandedly revived bel canto singing. Natalie Dessays were a dime a dozen back in Callas' time.

  • oh my lord that high E at the end was just out of this world bravisimaaa

  • Sólo habrá una Maria Callas.

  • There will only be one Callas

  • I'm crazy delighted! Many thanks! After Maria Callas all other singers seem to me in this aria not so expressive.

  • Jurgen Kesting considers that the concert was in Rome
