i have a shepherd/wolf puppy and the only thing furocious about him is his playful habit. he is just a very playful puppy. he loves to play with me and the cats. my cats are more vicious than he is. like tudiscokid says, its all depends on how they are raised.
My wolf dog had many wolf traits. Looked like a German Shepherd as a pup and even as an adult. She was 120 pounds in her prime and her legs were the only thing that looked like a wolf. I was always very careful with her around strangers but once she knew them she was fine. She was pack orientated. Protected my small dogs pup as her own. Seemed to know what I wanted before I did. She was 14 when she died and I would never buy a purbred shepherd now. My next dog will be Shepherd/Wolf hybred.
ok people really are honestly stupid. it's not the fact that they have wolf in them that makes them dangerous because all dogs come from wolfs. all dogs are dangerous and it depends on how they are brought up. if there is dog in the blood they will be easier to train then just a normal wolf.
oh shit now thats a good breed! wolf hybrid and german shepherd.. wow , i got a pure breed german shepherd, only 1 month old. nice dog! hope they are raised to pull slids together like those racing kinds. these ones look TOUGH!! nice video
lots of people think that they would be ferocious but they are pretty much only breed with wolves just to prevent hip problems. a family friend of mine has one and he's sweet as pie
Owning a dog like this has been my single greatest dream since I was a child. I am 23 just started living on my own and not ready yet, but I hope I am soon. Congrats on raising such beautiful creatures. Maybe I can buy one someday? :p
social strukture are the same in a wolf group and a wild dog group it takes so little for a dog to become wild again.A few month is enough for them to behave wild.so i wonder who knows to little.
Anyone that says a wolf hybrid is like anything other dog has no fucking clue what they are doing. The higher percentage of wolf in the animal the less likely it is to respond to dog training methods, working for the G.A, S.P.C.A I am constantly having to see the results of ignorant ppl trying to treat a wolf that has lost its fear of humans as a family pet. The end result is a rise maulings and wolf hybrid puppymills, soon their reputation will be as bad as pit bulls.
@MrBradyhimself I just hate when people like you just draw all over the edge.1.all dogs or wolfs are not wichus, when something happens its always screams agressive or wichus dogs.i say look at cesar millan he according to me he knows the most about wolfs and dogs.i dont get that every fucking humans nows best shit.He has faild with 2 dogs that he culdent fix ather wise the thousend he has fixet are not agressive or wicus its the stupid humans that can nothing about the the breed before getting 1
@slize10 Your English is far too flawed for me to distinguish what you said so i can not accurately reply to your comment , but i will say that Cesar Milan has no clue how to care for a wolf or dog with a high percentage of wolf D.N.A and has said so on his show
@MrBradyhimself yeah and still you culd replay isnt that funny how flawed my english are lucky then that i am a swed. And english my second. You dont get it that dogs come from wolfs that means they behave almost the same in any aspect with a few differences wolfs are wild and dogs are tamed. He says so dosnt mean he naturaly can he just dosnt want to in ather caintist area he is allredy a god for many people juat se how many dogs he fixed and wild dogs.
@slize10 You have no clue what you are talking about my friend, a domestic dog acts nothing like a wolf.I will no longer waste my time listening to your ill conceived ignorant bull shit!!
@MrBradyhimself yeah that sounds you have nothing better to say.Yes i have a clue becose i have study wolf behavor and have a sheperd myself.i implement how wolfs behave to echother on my sheperd and it works fine.
@MrBradyhimself know you have to much prejudice. You want me to belive that wolfhybrids are that comon so they are a number of the hatred you want to spread?Strong dogs dosnt follow weak leaders so just there it isnt the dogs foult! Its people that dosnt read up on what a dog needs and lose control over it.Besides not all dogs are nice just like we humans. But Humans are 10 times more dangerus then a dog.
@MrBradyhimself hmmm dogs are individuals just like us but you scare me if you work with dogs and think like that wow.But saying that a whole breed are bad becose there has been an accident is plain stupid and ignorant.
@slize10 I never said any dog breed was bad, the way a dog acts is a reflection of the competency of the trainer/owner, but a wolf hybrid is not a dog and depending on how much wolf is in its DNA it will not react the same way to dog training methods. This does not make them bad animals it just means they need owners that will nurture and train them for what they are witch is a wolf.
@MrBradyhimself So much bull you saying dogs are coming from wolf that you agree with? Then you can train a wolf exactly like a dog. The differens i se is that we never know how much % wild is in the wolf.if its more wolf stronger prey mod the wolfdog can be in.But it also can say wolfs are individuals just like us and dogs so you can have a dog that behaves just like a wolf and a wolf that behave like a dog you never know.
@slize10 A wolf acts nothing like a domesticated dog. It took humans thousands of years to domesticate dogs to the point that they are at now and to say that you can train a wolf the same way you train a dog is absolutely bullshit and shows how little you know about both creatures so stop wasting my time with your ignorant opinions and do some research.
@MrBradyhimself You can train a wolf like i said wolfs are individuals some are followers some are not. Just like some dogs you cant train becose they are not followers do you get it.just like us humans many are followers and belive everything, athers are not and can think for them selfs.how little i know when i live with 25 wolf around my house lol!I have a german sheperd and i have recherched about wolfs and iplamented it on my dog and guess it works fine so if dogs lern wolf lern.
@slize10 The point i think you are trying to make is that wolves and dogs are mentally identical, I do not see how you can attempt to make such an ill founded and completely factually wrong argument. By wolves and dogs being closely related dogs have retained certain characteristics but in no way could it ever be said nor has any expert ever agreed that a wolf and a domestic dog interact with humans in an identical manner.
@TheTudiscoKid It depends on how they are raised, just like any other dog, and how they are treated at their new homes. When raised right, they can be one of your best friends.
@milwood05 So if we bring home a lion cub and then raise it right it will be really cuddly and not aggressive at all!! Think I want to raise a bear too, they could have fun together :)).....xDDDDDD
love GSs, but I do find the percentages that people are posting of their dogs' genetic make-up laughable, mainly due to the fact that it's not biologically, nor mathematically, possible to come up with these percentages. "55% GS and 45% grey timber? Not possible. It's either 50/50, 50/25/25, or what have you.Fractions much? My god. Anyway, nice vid. Cute pups :o)
@thompson1106 When you have a litter of puppies, and say (in our case) the dad is 75% Arctic wolf and 25% Malamute, and the Mother is pure German Shepherd, to find the percentages the puppies would be, you divide the percentages of the Mother and father in half, so the father is 75% arctic and 25% malamute, like I said you would divide that in half, so if would be 37% Wolf and 12% malamute, then you divide the mother and that would be 50% german shepherd. Hope that helped you some.
@Billabongs122988 yes they are you just need to have patience an work on there trainin more then a regular dog and also not have them inside to much or they will try to escape every time you open the door
Wolf Hybrids are a cross between a domestic dog and a wolf. In this case a cross between German Shepherd and a Wolf. There are many different types of wolves and Dogs to cross breed. Though in many states they are not allowed :( But I plan on buying one soon. A 40% Tundra wolf and a 60% Siberian Husky :P
I have 3 german shepherds. One german import and one very large straight back german shepherd. My third one is a pup from the two. I love their loyalty. The people that lived two houses from me in Austin, Tx had two full blood wolf puppies. At first glance they looked like young white german shepherds. As they grew you could tell the difference in them and their bark/growl. Thanks for posting your video! God bless
I've been trying to do a lot of research on wolf hybrids (for personal purposes, I don't have the time or skill to own one as of yet), and I was wondering if you could reccomend a good book or website about them?
These pups look EXACTLY like my girl, well now she looks like Daisy cuz she's HUGE!! Mine is 50% german shepherd, 30% alaskan husky, 20% arctic wolf. She is the best dog we've had besides our german shepherd/norwegian elkhound, he's the king. Anyway, I've socialized my dog with babies/kids/dogs and she is such a good dog with a funky personality!!! : }~ thanx 4 uploading!!!
@jackbrightside If you ever decide to get one I would recommend doing a lot of research, they require a lot of time, training and patience, a lot more then a "regular" dog. I would not recommend them for a first time "pet". Our Wolf/Malamute can not be left a lone at all, he will escape. If anyone was to get one I would recommend getting one that was really low content first, never go with higher content Wolf unless you have had a lot of experience with the breed.
@milwood05 i completely understand, infact i watched a documentary on the wolf dog subject, it portrayed the dogs as pent up wolves, i now feel bad for all wolf dog hybrids as the ones in the documentary were either very shy or very destructive, most people treat them like dogs when infact like you say much more difficult, i'm gonna stick with domesticated dogs that were breed to be companions not forced to be. thanks
@jackbrightside u dum ass ur going to have proplems with this dog wolf is already breed in it its going to be more wolf than dog be prpared or u might have a really good wolf
@LaDainianMensah21 feeling bad for animals that should be in the wild and not in the home makes me dumb, you're a fucking dog psychologist or at least a zoologist that studies wolves right?
@yvonneost12 erm lets put it this way.. if for example a female dog is a german shepard, but one of his ancestors (parents or what not) was idk a poodle and it makes with another species.. it gets 50% from each of it's parents.. But the female dog mentioned would have some poodle blood in it or what not. .w. Get it?
Like say you have a german shepard dog.And you have a timber wolf
They breed and have puppies..so the puppies are each 50% German shepard, and 50% timber wolf. Then maybe one of the puppies (half wolf half german shepard) breed with..maybe a full german shepard. Then the puppies will have their own percentage of what breeds they are...sorry im not good at maths im only 13 lol i dont know what the puppies i said last would be then, but thats how they could end up 15% wolf.(:
@yvonneost12 The father is 75% Artic Wolf and 25% Malamute, and the mom is pure German shepherd, you divide that by two and you get 50% German Shepherd, 35% Wolf and 15% Malamute
do you were i can get a hybrid pup ? i love german shepherds i haad gotten one for my 12th birthday but we had to give her away because she was to big and strong and im was exermely sad. But i would like one now because it won't be long intill i get my one place so i can take care of it. thanks for the video :)
@eyecattag Try looking at pet classified adds on the internet, but if you do get a german shepherd mixed with a wolf like the puppies on the video, they will probably be twice the size of a German Shepherd :)
I have a 14 year old female 55% German shep and 45% grey timberwolf. A really active highly spirited first 3years unbelievably intelligent and a try friend. And what gets me about wolf mixes they are so funny and entertaining especially if you laugh. They entertain more. I have raised 3 wolves and trust me you need great patience and love and time to play plus gentle discipline best animal friends ever
all in all, would have loved to have met Hobo. =P his fur was a darker shade than this, and he was definately more wolf than german shepherd. xD just felt like i had to share the story =P but yea, really nice dogs, look real friendly/healthy. =o
and for some reason he HATED uniformed people. xD like a postman camed to the house, and the dog tried to jump over my grandmum at the postman. grandmum yelled to close the door, or Hobo would have prob killed him. but... he was also the most human-like dog ive ever seen. he'd comfort mum when she was sad, play with her, and even bring her presents (though this would come in the form of a woodchuck or something... lmao) i guess Hobo owned them, not the other way around...
the dog was BEST friends with my mum, and parents when he lived with her though. Hobo (mum named him that) left and came when he wanted, but everyone knew not to go near him. he was BIG. about 180 lbs, and was 100% muscle, and could clear a 7 foot fence (she has pictures of this). i laughed when she told me that whenever a visitor came, hobo sat inbetween visitor and mum/grandmum. xD if he'd try to get up, the dog would lift his head, as to say "who gave you permission to move?"
@moondancer33 Haha! That sound just like Sonji our Wolf / malamute when you said he would not let anyone near your mom, like if anyone he did not know were to try to give us a hug, he would nudge the other person away and look at them like what are you doing, you are too close to them.
heh... Mum owned a wolf/german shepherd hybrid that used to be a warehouse guard dog. he was about a year and a half old when she got ahold of him, he got loose from the warehouse, and made good friends with my mum. but... he was EXTREMELY territorial (she recounts a boy going to close the fence. dog didnt care, UNTIL he was in his territory. the second the boy's foot crossed into the yard, the dog jumped him and tore his arm up.)
I heard since wolve's are immune to regular rabies vaccine we give domestic dogs, breeding a wolf and a german shepherd is not a good idea. I heard that it is not a good idea because the rabies shot we give our domestic dog may not work on a wolf/domestic dog hybrid. Is this true? If it is true I would think twice about making such a breed. Also I own two German Shepherds. I think g/s have wolf in their blood line but not sure. I just love them, they are beautiful,, energetic, loyal companions.
God, I knew one of these. Except she had long fur. I miss her to DEATH! We had such a bond...but her owner couldn't afford her anymore! Why couldn't he stop drinking and smoking!!?? Weren't his baby's worth it!? Excuse me...I don't want to short out the keyboard.......................:'(
The puppies are not high content Wolf, they are %50 German Shepherd, %35 Wolf and %15 Alaskan Malamute, so they are not pure Wolf, and have more German Shepherd in them then Wolf, so with the right training and socialisation they will be a good friend for someone.
@milwood05 ITS CRAZY HOW SMART WOLF HYBRIDS ARE SPECIALLY WITH GERMAN SHEPHERDS AND ALASKAN MALUMITE.........I OWN 4 ATM AND ONE IS 7 MONTHS WEIGHING 180 POUNDS I WILL POST VID SOMETIME THIS WEEK TO SHOW
BUT THEY ALL DONT COME OUT THIS PRETTY YOU HAVE GREAT LOOKING DOGS XD :D
@C7555 If they have a different father or mother they can mate. You only want to do that kind of breeding to keep certain traits.Never breed brother and sister form the same mother and father.
My friend had a wolf mix i think it might have been with a german shepherd because of the colouring. She was black along her face and back and a blackish brown until half of her thigh and then a orange brown along the rest of her ears shot up and bushy tail. She was the only one who survived the cruel man her faqmily was bred by. He was the dog walker. They told him to make it a long one because it was her last. he snapped the lead and put her in the backyard and kept her
@Everythingvideo101 It depends on the percentage of Wolf, if they are low content it is a little easier, they require a lot more time, patience and training then a regular dog.
Growing up I had gs wolf hybrid that was 25%, that did not come from a breeder. Probably the best dog I have had. Not the greatest with other animals but I have pictures from when I was a year old laying on top of her. Good with people for the most part but a but timid.
They can make great family companions. Most people who have owned one say they will never go back to owning a "regular dog" because they love how loyal, smart and intelligent they are. Sonji, our 75% Wolf, is the same, he does really good with kids, he is fine with people if we are with him, but he is very timid and shy around new people, which that is common for Wolf dogs because that trait comes from the Wolf. Wolves are very shy and timid animals, that's why there are so few attacks on
@milwood05 Approximately 20% of wolf hybrids can be effectively domesticated as reliable pets. You are projecting your own unusual experience as some kind of general advice. No, they are, in fact, VERY seldom domesticated as good pets. They will act much like dog pups until they are about 6 mo.- 1 yr. old. After that, they will most often begin to act like.... wolves. Don't argue about it, the data is there. Contact someone familiar with the science.
@trustyrusty007 I'm not trying to say they are like a normal dog, because their not, trust me I know, most of them can not be left alone or they will tare your house up because they are a pack animal and need to be with you at all times, this breed of dog is not for everyone, they need to be worked with everyday and with the right home and training they can become one of the best friends you will ever have, please if anyone gets one please do as much research as you can, and make sure
@milwood05 No argument there, Milwood. There are exceptions to most generalizations, and I've had a hybrid who was apparently entirely domesticated and a good pet. But, I balance that against several others from her litter that were definately not. So, I very carefully avoid ever suggesting to anyone that a hybrid might be right for them. The doemestication process requires almost total attention, and even then, the odds are against it.
@milwood05 No argument there, Milwood. I just think it important that anyone reaize that the odds against a hybrid being successfully incorporated into a human family are awefull long. Some of it may depend on the dedication and knowledge of the humans, but most of it is a genetic crap shoot, and the odds against it are pretty damn depressing.
I have to agree with KrystiinKimahri. ITS ALL ABOUT THE OWNER and how they treat their dog. You need to be FIRM but not ABUSIVE. Some people who train their dogs don't know where that line gets crossed and that's when you get a dog that can be aggressive.
If you train your pet for that matter, respect it, and treat it if it was an actual family member (instead of treating it like an animal *Without being too drastic of course*) they will respect you back.
I agree 100% with you, its all about the owner and how they was raised, they do not respond to abusive training, or anything abusive at all! Thats what makes most of them aggressive. They need time and patiences to own and train a wolfdog. They can make great family companions if trained right.
my name is Debbi and i am 44 yrs old. my Wolf/Sheppard lived to be 14. he was a cancer survivor for his last two years. his name was Shiloh. he was 142 lbs. it has been just over two years and i think i am almost ready. social strukture are the same in a wolf group and a wild dog group it takes so little for a dog to become wild again.A few month is enough for them to behave wild.so i wonder who knows to little.

MrBradyhimself 9 months ago
@MrBradyhimself I just hate when people like you just draw all over the edge.1.all dogs or wolfs are not wichus, when something happens its always screams agressive or wichus dogs.i say look at cesar millan he according to me he knows the most about wolfs and dogs.i dont get that every fucking humans nows best shit.He has faild with 2 dogs that he culdent fix ather wise the thousend he has fixet are not agressive or wicus its the stupid humans that can nothing about the the breed before getting 1
slize10 9 months ago
@slize10 Your English is far too flawed for me to distinguish what you said so i can not accurately reply to your comment , but i will say that Cesar Milan has no clue how to care for a wolf or dog with a high percentage of wolf D.N.A and has said so on his show
MrBradyhimself 9 months ago
@MrBradyhimself yeah and still you culd replay isnt that funny how flawed my english are lucky then that i am a swed. And english my second. You dont get it that dogs come from wolfs that means they behave almost the same in any aspect with a few differences wolfs are wild and dogs are tamed. He says so dosnt mean he naturaly can he just dosnt want to in ather caintist area he is allredy a god for many people juat se how many dogs he fixed and wild dogs.
slize10 9 months ago
@slize10 You have no clue what you are talking about my friend, a domestic dog acts nothing like a wolf.I will no longer waste my time listening to your ill conceived ignorant bull shit!!
MrBradyhimself 9 months ago
@MrBradyhimself yeah that sounds you have nothing better to say.Yes i have a clue becose i have study wolf behavor and have a sheperd myself.i implement how wolfs behave to echother on my sheperd and it works fine.
slize10 9 months ago
@MrBradyhimself know you have to much prejudice. You want me to belive that wolfhybrids are that comon so they are a number of the hatred you want to spread?Strong dogs dosnt follow weak leaders so just there it isnt the dogs foult! Its people that dosnt read up on what a dog needs and lose control over it.Besides not all dogs are nice just like we humans. But Humans are 10 times more dangerus then a dog.
slize10 7 months ago
@MrBradyhimself hmmm dogs are individuals just like us but you scare me if you work with dogs and think like that wow.But saying that a whole breed are bad becose there has been an accident is plain stupid and ignorant.
slize10 7 months ago
@slize10 I never said any dog breed was bad, the way a dog acts is a reflection of the competency of the trainer/owner, but a wolf hybrid is not a dog and depending on how much wolf is in its DNA it will not react the same way to dog training methods. This does not make them bad animals it just means they need owners that will nurture and train them for what they are witch is a wolf.
MrBradyhimself 7 months ago
@MrBradyhimself So much bull you saying dogs are coming from wolf that you agree with? Then you can train a wolf exactly like a dog. The differens i se is that we never know how much % wild is in the wolf.if its more wolf stronger prey mod the wolfdog can be in.But it also can say wolfs are individuals just like us and dogs so you can have a dog that behaves just like a wolf and a wolf that behave like a dog you never know.
slize10 7 months ago
@slize10 A wolf acts nothing like a domesticated dog. It took humans thousands of years to domesticate dogs to the point that they are at now and to say that you can train a wolf the same way you train a dog is absolutely bullshit and shows how little you know about both creatures so stop wasting my time with your ignorant opinions and do some research.
MrBradyhimself 7 months ago
@MrBradyhimself You can train a wolf like i said wolfs are individuals some are followers some are not. Just like some dogs you cant train becose they are not followers do you get it.just like us humans many are followers and belive everything, athers are not and can think for them selfs.how little i know when i live with 25 wolf around my house lol!I have a german sheperd and i have recherched about wolfs and iplamented it on my dog and guess it works fine so if dogs lern wolf lern.
slize10 7 months ago
@slize10 The point i think you are trying to make is that wolves and dogs are mentally identical, I do not see how you can attempt to make such an ill founded and completely factually wrong argument. By wolves and dogs being closely related dogs have retained certain characteristics but in no way could it ever be said nor has any expert ever agreed that a wolf and a domestic dog interact with humans in an identical manner.

love GSs, but I do find the percentages that people are posting of their dogs' genetic make-up laughable, mainly due to the fact that it's not biologically, nor mathematically, possible to come up with these percentages. "55% GS and 45% grey timber? Not possible. It's either 50/50, 50/25/25, or what have you.Fractions much? My god. Anyway, nice vid. Cute pups :o)
thompson1106 10 months ago
@thompson1106 When you have a litter of puppies, and say (in our case) the dad is 75% Arctic wolf and 25% Malamute, and the Mother is pure German Shepherd, to find the percentages the puppies would be, you divide the percentages of the Mother and father in half, so the father is 75% arctic and 25% malamute, like I said you would divide that in half, so if would be 37% Wolf and 12% malamute, then you divide the mother and that would be 50% german shepherd. Hope that helped you some.

I do agree, but the pup on the far right look Malamute, and if you pause at 1:50, the Dog Cujo definitely has wolf in in head structure.

God bless

is their temperament good? i always wanted a German shepard, but saying your dog is part wolf is too awesome, but again are they manageable?
jackbrightside 1 year ago
@jackbrightside If you ever decide to get one I would recommend doing a lot of research, they require a lot of time, training and patience, a lot more then a "regular" dog. I would not recommend them for a first time "pet". Our Wolf/Malamute can not be left a lone at all, he will escape. If anyone was to get one I would recommend getting one that was really low content first, never go with higher content Wolf unless you have had a lot of experience with the breed.
milwood05 1 year ago 12
@milwood05 i completely understand, infact i watched a documentary on the wolf dog subject, it portrayed the dogs as pent up wolves, i now feel bad for all wolf dog hybrids as the ones in the documentary were either very shy or very destructive, most people treat them like dogs when infact like you say much more difficult, i'm gonna stick with domesticated dogs that were breed to be companions not forced to be. thanks

jackbrightside 1 year ago
How do you get 15% of a breed ? of dog..LOL does'nt make sense to me.
yvonneost12 1 year ago
@yvonneost12 erm lets put it this way.. if for example a female dog is a german shepard, but one of his ancestors (parents or what not) was idk a poodle and it makes with another species.. it gets 50% from each of it's parents.. But the female dog mentioned would have some poodle blood in it or what not. .w. Get it?
Wolfgirl2321 1 year ago
@yvonneost12
Like say you have a german shepard dog.And you have a timber wolf
They breed and have puppies..so the puppies are each 50% German shepard, and 50% timber wolf. Then maybe one of the puppies (half wolf half german shepard) breed with..maybe a full german shepard. Then the puppies will have their own percentage of what breeds they are...sorry im not good at maths im only 13 lol i dont know what the puppies i said last would be then, but thats how they could end up 15% wolf.(:
iiLaala13 1 year ago
@yvonneost12 The father is 75% Artic Wolf and 25% Malamute, and the mom is pure German shepherd, you divide that by two and you get 50% German Shepherd, 35% Wolf and 15% Malamute

@moondancer33 Thank you :) They are raised around adults and kids and other animals from the moment their eyes open, and they really love people
milwood05 1 year ago
and for some reason he HATED uniformed people. xD like a postman camed to the house, and the dog tried to jump over my grandmum at the postman. grandmum yelled to close the door, or Hobo would have prob killed him. but... he was also the most human-like dog ive ever seen. he'd comfort mum when she was sad, play with her, and even bring her presents (though this would come in the form of a woodchuck or something... lmao) i guess Hobo owned them, not the other way around...
moondancer33 1 year ago
the dog was BEST friends with my mum, and parents when he lived with her though. Hobo (mum named him that) left and came when he wanted, but everyone knew not to go near him. he was BIG. about 180 lbs, and was 100% muscle, and could clear a 7 foot fence (she has pictures of this). i laughed when she told me that whenever a visitor came, hobo sat inbetween visitor and mum/grandmum. xD if he'd try to get up, the dog would lift his head, as to say "who gave you permission to move?"
moondancer33 1 year ago
@moondancer33 Haha! That sound just like Sonji our Wolf / malamute when you said he would not let anyone near your mom, like if anyone he did not know were to try to give us a hug, he would nudge the other person away and look at them like what are you doing, you are too close to them.
milwood05 1 year ago

Growing up I had gs wolf hybrid that was 25%, that did not come from a breeder. Probably the best dog I have had. Not the greatest with other animals but I have pictures from when I was a year old laying on top of her. Good with people for the most part but a but timid.
urappl 2 years ago
They can make great family companions. Most people who have owned one say they will never go back to owning a "regular dog" because they love how loyal, smart and intelligent they are. Sonji, our 75% Wolf, is the same, he does really good with kids, he is fine with people if we are with him, but he is very timid and shy around new people, which that is common for Wolf dogs because that trait comes from the Wolf. Wolves are very shy and timid animals, that's why there are so few attacks on

123leta 2 years ago
@milwood05 Approximately 20% of wolf hybrids can be effectively domesticated as reliable pets. You are projecting your own unusual experience as some kind of general advice. No, they are, in fact, VERY seldom domesticated as good pets. They will act much like dog pups until they are about 6 mo.- 1 yr. old. After that, they will most often begin to act like.... wolves. Don't argue about it, the data is there. Contact someone familiar with the science.
trustyrusty007 1 year ago
@trustyrusty007 I'm not trying to say they are like a normal dog, because their not, trust me I know, most of them can not be left alone or they will tare your house up because they are a pack animal and need to be with you at all times, this breed of dog is not for everyone, they need to be worked with everyday and with the right home and training they can become one of the best friends you will ever have, please if anyone gets one please do as much research as you can, and make sure
milwood05 1 year ago
@milwood05 No argument there, Milwood. There are exceptions to most generalizations, and I've had a hybrid who was apparently entirely domesticated and a good pet. But, I balance that against several others from her litter that were definately not. So, I very carefully avoid ever suggesting to anyone that a hybrid might be right for them. The doemestication process requires almost total attention, and even then, the odds are against it.
trustyrusty007 1 year ago
@milwood05 No argument there, Milwood. I just think it important that anyone reaize that the odds against a hybrid being successfully incorporated into a human family are awefull long. Some of it may depend on the dedication and knowledge of the humans, but most of it is a genetic crap shoot, and the odds against it are pretty damn depressing.
trustyrusty007 1 year ago
I have to agree with KrystiinKimahri. ITS ALL ABOUT THE OWNER and how they treat their dog. You need to be FIRM but not ABUSIVE. Some people who train their dogs don't know where that line gets crossed and that's when you get a dog that can be aggressive.
If you train your pet for that matter, respect it, and treat it if it was an actual family member (instead of treating it like an animal *Without being too drastic of course*) they will respect you back.
NightwishSC 2 years ago 2
I agree 100% with you, its all about the owner and how they was raised, they do not respond to abusive training, or anything abusive at all! Thats what makes most of them aggressive. They need time and patiences to own and train a wolfdog. They can make great family companions if trained right.
