John Piper is endorsing Rick Warren; a pragmatist pastor who is leading people astray with false doctrine and accepting and promoting erronous bible 'translations' like The Message. In the Lord's Prayer in the message is the phrase: as a bove so below, which is a well known occult phrase and basically comes down to pantheism.
this is antithetical to what Jesus said about himself:
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me
Why does god require glorification? What is the point? It seems logical to me that an all knowing, omniscient, omnipotent being would have no needs and therefore require nothing. Is there an ego at work here?
I find it astonishing how Christians define the nature of their made-up god. It makes absolutely no sense--but then it's a dogmatic belief consistent with it's ignorant bronze age origins.
Does anyone else spend countless hours searching through the related videos, interested in finding out with John thinks on these topics? Not saying I do...
everything will glorify God. You want to sin. sin. it will bring glory to God. But if you love him, obey him. and abstain. God isnt dependent on your behavior. your sinless perfection...to bring him glory and make him shine. he is getting his. His love toward us is revealed, and glorifies him...in what he does toward us. He makes allowance for us. He gives us a choice and a way to receive the fulness of who he is and share in his glory. This act alone...whether you accept or deny. has brought
him immeasurable glory. Whatever you choose. Whereever you go. he is entirely..fully glorified. More than as much as possible. He loves you. And his commands to you are a gift to you. Not a way for him to harness you and work you like some kind of glory generator. But because of who he is. he loves you, and invites you into himself. There is nothing greater. Listen to me. There is nothing greater.
God has a moral will, but also a sovereign will. He cannot just take one side of the coin, they limit each other to certain points.
By "moral will" I mean the will God has revealed to us by His word. "Thou shalt not kill." for example.
The "sovereign will" points to God's foreknowledge and wisdom. It's not God's will that we should kill each other, but if it glorifies His name, He shall let us kill each other. And that could be because we DESERVE death and we deserve it RIGHT NOW.
God directs all our actions and all things that happen by nature in the universe so that His existence, sovereignty, righteousness, love, holiness, glory (all that He is) are clearly seen. If its at the expense of our suffering, so be it! because THE MOST LOVING THING GOD COULD EVER DO TO US IS THE FULL REVELATION OF HIMSELF!
amen very deep, great answer! love the contrast between narrow focused and the entirety of the canvas example. here is my question, I am a believer that pragmatism is bad, in general ends don't justify the "means"... But if it's God's glory that is the "ends" than His sovereignty and anything that happens "good or bad" justifies that "ends"? Is this circle reasoning?
If you mean "Is it RIGHT for God to use EVIL to promote GOOD?", then I'd say yes.
When I observe my own life, I can with no hesitation say "If God didn't let me SIN, I wouldn't have learned this or that." It's just an inevitable truth that it's God's sovereign will for us to SIN, still be born again. God reminds us of the miseries of the sinful way of life by letting us sin.

Could you address your question again?
If you mean "Is it RIGHT for God to use EVIL to promote GOOD?", then I'd say yes.

I believe the OUTCOME justifies the "means".
