i've made a couple attempts to read this book but never gotten far! i've heard that it all makes sense at the end but i can't seem to stick with it! but i'm determined to someday finish this book and see what the big deal is haha
@smooshie3 Oh I'd definitely recommend persevering with it. At first it can be very loud and full on. You're just barraged with character after character but eventually things come together, you start to thread things together and the end is very satisfying ...eventually.
Reading an extract from Catch-22 is really hard because the plot keeps jumping around, and often assumes knowledge of previous events or characters. So well done, you chose a really good passage :). Love that book.
I first read it when I was in [s]high school[/s] secondary school! I remember putting it on my personal statement for uni applications because it was a classic AND I actually enjoyed it XP
No way, you have the exact same old copies of Narnia and Worst Witch as I have, I see them in the background :) Even though they’re for kids I had to buy the most recent books in the worst witch series. I had such fond memories of those books as a kid. You have to admit harry potter has so much in common with that series its not even funny. Apparently a lot of critics get it the wrong way around much to the annoyance of poor jill murphy.
@micronoid Oh definitely, although I think people are too hasty to try and spot 'copycats', and accusing people of stealing ideas. Books can have similar ideas and yet still do completely different things with them.
Regardless I love The Worst Witch, and I loved the tv series too when I was younger. I'll have to get the other books!
@hbkarma1 Definitely, sometimes I don't know why some books have made it into the canon, I just don't see what's so great about them but Catch-22 is honestly a book that will stay with you forever.
