@doulasc no...it's about the herbacide "Agent Orange" widely sprayed across the RVN (Republic of Vietnam) during the Vietnam War. Many returning veterans describe the surrounding foliage turning to jelly 24 to 48 hours after the mist settled on the trees/shrubs/grass et.al. The defoliant presented (presents) serious health issues for humans breathing, or having contact with the chemical; from the troops on the ground to the aircrews spraying it. Hope this helps.

Orange Crush was an orange flavored soft drink. In this case, though, it was meant to refer to Agent Orange, a chemical used by the US to defoliate the Vietnamese jungle during the Vietnam War. US military personnel exposed to it developed cancer years later and some of their children had birth defects.

I remember when this song and Pop Song '89 were featured in a 21 Jumpstreet episode called AWOL back in 1988. Damn, I am getting old. Green was a big deal for R.E.M because it was their first album for Warner Bros.. I still have the orange colored cassette for Green. I still prefer I.R.S, R.E.M albums. Wish Bill Berry would come back and drum.
