  • How much did the crankshaft and followers cost to replace? What kind of oil are you using at present? My 1997 Jetta 1.9L TDI with 90 hp requires synthetic oil.

  • How reliable are these? I know the MB are bullet proof, but very expensive to fix. Are th VW's as expensive to fix? How often do they break? I have been looking to buy one, but i dont know anything about diesel engines. I had a Toyota with a 22r that died at 500K so i was looking for one of those, but they are either rotten, or to expensive. I just want to drive to and from a trainstation... Do the diesels still start in the cold? I have heard issues with that. Any help would be great.

    Except the timing belt it didnt break i just re did it cause you wanna every 175 thousand miles.
