Smart-guys that know a bit about playing guitar that rag on the simplicity of Nirvana songs by saying stuff like "It's only three chords" are douchebags that don't know squat about music. Chords don't matter in Western music beyond laying a bed for the melody, morons. The singer must connect with the song and the audience. Cobain was a master at crafting melody and connecting. He had a special knack. Not a flashy guitarist, but more deft than people realize. His genius: EMOTION and MELODY.

@Fenvox79 I think it's a Fernandez custom. It does sound wimpy compared to the Jaguar, but that's what you get with single coil vs humbuckers on the Jag. I personally like p-90's, they are the best of both worlds; lots of clarity (like you get with single coils) and a lot of bite (like you get with humbuckers, which in turn sound more "crunchy"). Sorry to rant, I just love to play.

Speaking as a long time Nirvana fan, this fucking song only has three chords, but still Kurt manages to fuck them up several times. He frequently had to replace hardware and at one time even replaced the totally busted up neck of Krist' original "Bleach" era bass, by which he even went as far to inlay and old style "Ibanez" logo and to duplicate the headstock cut outs.

put "Ibanez black eagle" in the search function and you'll find a clip of the Hard rock hotel who now own that bass.
