Hopefully for the AR-15 build you were using a pinned 10 round magazine or a featureless build such. Looking at the video, you were using a pistol grip build so you were using a pinned magazine or a bullet button or prince 50 hope?
uh... M16? If it was an M16 and he was just plinking, why wasn't he using full auto? what's the point of paying $10,000+ for a select-fire rifle and using semi-auto all the time?
No, you missed the point. You labeled an AR-15 as an M16. It's generally accepted in the shooting community that the term M16 only applies to select-fire AR-15s. The AR depicted in the video was not select-fire unless you are hiding something from us.
Detachable magazines are PERFECTLY legal in California as long as you comply with all of the regulations listed in SB23. Do a google search for it and see. There are several methods you can use to obtain an AR-15 with detachable magazines.
(I had to cut the comment in two because of 500-character limit)
30-round magazines are also fully legal in California as long as you owned them prior to 2000. You can't buy them new anymore, but if you owned them prior to 2000 you may use them.
I suggest you read up on California gun laws a little more. Check out calguns8net (replace the 8 with a period, stupid youtube URL filters).
Thats cool but I don't own any of the guns in this video. They all belong to my friend, hence my obvious lack of knowledge in the legality of such things. What firearms do you own?
Well here in America allot of us grow up shooting guns. I started shooting at age 6. It's the American way.
A kid that is taken to the range with his dad or grandfather and taught how to properly and safely fire a gun is allot less likely to hurt himself or another person if he ever encounters a gun. He will also understand the true danger of a gun and it's capacity to kill.
That idiot was standing forward of the firing line while it was hot. What a moron.

full-auto is illegal in CA, as are detachable magazines, and 30 round magazines, which would make shooting in full-auto twice as much of a pain.

detachable magazines are only allowed when you have a monstergrip or no pistol grip.

You can get a machine gun if you make movies for a living.

I was more surprised that the guy was standing down range of the shooter (child).

The kids dad did it to piss of his wife. Plus, its only a .22, a baby could fire that thing without a problem. What nationality are you?
