Hi Tim, Just discovered you and your videos. Really love your playing and sound. Just a question: How do you feel this pickup compares with a Teisco Gold Foil? I'm completely sold on Ry Cooder's recent sound (Gold Foil in neck) and the Charlie Christian pickup sounds very similar: warm, ringing, transparent. And it would be a lot easier to get than the gold foil.
Whoa! What did you do there with your right hand at 1:58. Where did the pick go? What do you do when you want to get the pick back? Tell me, and I'll tell you where to send the bill.
Another great demo, wonderful playing, an inspiration and a great example to follow.
Players should also note how you look up from the guitar often enough to keep in touch with your viewer. I'm working on that now.
i tried the same thing with a tele, and i found the neck/bridge was not a whole lot different from the middle/bridge, but, then again, i wasnt using CCs, might be a difference im unaware of
Those Charlie Christians look so sharp with a tele too! have you heard them mixed with a conventional tele bridge pick up like a Lollar 52? I wonder if the difference going from one of these in the neck to a 52 in the bridge would be too great.
Hey Tim. Enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing. One question. Did you have to do any mods to the body to accept the Charlie Christian pickups? I'm considering putting one in the neck position only on my '51 Nocaster, but don't want to enlarge the route for it. Thanks!
Tim I had this tune going through my mind all morning and I watched your clip here and lo and behold the very last second of this clip, you play Cruella Deville, isn't coincidence a powerful thing.I think you have done a very good job on this combination and the vibrancy of the tones is just so distinctive. The quality of those p/us is so self evident. Thank you so much for posting this cheers allan
Hi Tim, I really love your playing and your tone. I was just wondering what sort of picks you use. Do you use a really heavy plastic one? Thank You and Hi from London UK
thanks ... it sounds great. Did you ever have any trouble with neck - because ot the high tension? 11 flatwound are the fatest I ever tried on my G&L ... but still sound a bit thin.
Tim what do you think of the Brown Note D'lite? Is it the 22? 6v6 or 6L6? It sounds very nice in this clip and others I seen/heard. I know you like the Ethos pedal and I know that the Brown Note D'lite is going for a Carlton sound which I take to mean Dumble. I have an Ethos coming in March (seems like I've been waiting forever!) and planned to run it through my Carr Rambler. Is it still worth looking into the Brown Note D'lite ot he Wreck?
Love the tone you get out of those CC's. I'm thinking about getting one myself, but I'm concerned about its versatility (or lack thereof). Can it handle mild distortion or fuzz?
Sounds great. Just what I've been looking for. I'm getting ready to order the set of three CC Lollar pickups for my Tele and wanted to know if you are using a 250K Pot. Also, do you know where I can find a wiring schematic for the setup you are playing?
@Jurandon yes 250K pots (fender style) as far as the wiring, standard 5 way strat type with a pull pot on the tone knob to add the Bridge pup to any combination. hope that helps.
Amazing tones coming from your Tele. I am really curious about the taper on your pots that you had Mike Lull put on. Can you use the entire range of the tone pot or does it have an area that tapers then drops off? Also how is the output of the CC neck pickup? I am thinking about replacing my microphonic gibson mini in my Brent Mason copy, but need enough output to deal with the seymours at the bridge and middle. Nice playing love to hear jazz on the Maple board Tele
thanks, the taper is smooth and gradual, Neck CC is a rather high output about like a P90, the Lollar firebird mini is cool you might be able to drop that right in to your BM Tele with out any mod. Good luck

Normally I would bash someone for hacking up a perfectly good Nocaster, but you squeeze quite a tone out of that thing

a P90 sized route is necessary.

What was that you played at the very beginning there? (Beautifully played too).

Tim, great videos, great playing, and nice informative demos. i really love the tone of those CCs.
Did you notice a decrease in sustain when you added the 3rd pickup?
probably not a huge deal, but since i would be adding it as a 3rd to a jazzmaster i need all the sustain i can hold on too. Thank, and care.
