  • I laughed out loud when I read that.Stoned listening to New Gold Dream and it haunted you.Same here!! One of the other albums that done that to me stoned was Seventeen Seconds by The Cure, Outstanding bands.

  • New Gold Dream is my absolute favorite album of all time. I remember being stoned the 1st time I heard this album, and it's haunted me ever since.

  • Remember the success remake of this awesome song? Most of the successful hits of the 90s and 2000s are coming from 80s!Nothing to compare..and the originals are just so much better!!!80s FOREVER!!

  • The World Is MINE!!!

  • goodgood

  • New Gold Dream is my favorite album!!

  • Fking awesome.

  • @MrDaisey2 Wi mair than a wee bit help. Hence why ye heard nowt fae the guy afterwards. Fact.

  • @ArchangelBoab agree totally. You wouldn't happen to have played in a band arch angel?

  • @damcka Nothing to write home about in all truth buddy. Shambolic experimentalism.

  • @fottiros what bollocks ! get a life and correct facts

  • @MrGonkyadobber i didnt get you . i just said guetta used their tune to make a new one

  • @fottiros your post reads like simple minds used his music , sorry i picked it up wrong

  • The old grey whistle test, featured so many great bands, god I miss those days.

  • jaren 80 wat een herineringen

  • New romantics..yeah!!!

  • Every summer I think I will find someone somewhere, and every fall is the bummer realization that once again.... there is not someone somewhere in summertime

  • @DJfox69 Hey I think this statement you made is brillient I just had to reply...I hope you will meet someone sometime soon in summertime...that is is you have not already...allthe best to you in your quest I wish you every success...good luck to you...

  • It was a great time the 80's particularly in the East European countries. We were full of hopes and the new romantic music. The time run away but the memories of 80' stays

  • i had the purple and gold swirled vinyl LP of New Gold Dream...awesome!

  • Comment removed

  • FUCK ME!!

  • To say it brings back wonderful memories isn't accurate -- such a comment falls pitifully short. This track and all of the others on the New Gold Dream, 81, 82, 83, 84 album bring alive in me the feelings I first felt back then. "Anything is possible, in life" And despite politics, loss of loved ones, and any other craziness I have or may face this, this track leaves me feeling strong.

  • The 80's, UK music, growing up there, how did I ever get so lucky! Still sounds fan bloody tastic!

  • Comment removed

  • @lyndababy couldn't agree more,growing up in the 80's. We were blessed.

  • after the intro, i just expect someone to shout "the world is mine" since guetta sampled it for his track "the world is mine" simple minds ftw <3

  • one of the best bands live ever

  • Brilliant track off of New Gold Dream. Gorgeous album.

  • Great!

  • !!!!!!

  • love the guitar on this.. brilliant sound just seems like yesterday

  • awesome. Im trying to tab this song, and its the best live version for hearing what charlie is doing!

  • Excellent!

  • one of their greatest songs - out of their greatest time

  • nice Make up Jim Kerr.

    Great Song but bad version.

  • My first Simple Minds Respect!

They will be in Porto Alegre/Brasil in August!

    SOLD OUT!

  • New Gold Dream, best album ever made. Not a single song that is even average, pure greatness.

    Simple Minds > SERBIA <

  • A pretty brilliant time for pop, but a grotesque era in men's hairstyling!

  • this song..like so many of their other ones never really got the attention or credit they deserved..........lot of competition in the 80's

  • this group was great i just cannot believe how great they were . makes want to fall in love and fuck the rest of the world

  • I truly love this kind of music, I really don't think this style of music is being made anymore! Romanticism is practically dead.... What sad times we live in.

  • @iliveinthepast

I totally agree. The world is a dead place with no feeling in music anymore. It's so sad

  • @TheNouveauxdecadence It's nice to know that people like yourself are out there!

  • and Guetta made Gold!

  • This is one PHAT one... Love it!

  • I met them in Vancouver long ago with my brother.

  • great song kerr looks cool

  • Wonderful!!! Oh to be a teenager again!

  • those were the days

  • OMG . GREAT MEMORIES!! GREAT SONG!!

  • birchill - so overlooked in the pantheon of great guitarists

  • que buena rola

  • Its all about that intro. I love the live in the .... version but you gotta have that intro.

  • Forbes was part of the great Simple Minds sound...what is He upto these days ?...

  • you can find him on facebook

  • Thanks...as if He is going to be my friend...

  • @essertpitay He's in a Scottish supergroup with Mick McNeil called "Four Goodmen". I think even the original drummer from SM (Brian) plays in it sometimes.

  • The World Is Mine!!!!! ^^

  • yes, david guetta just cover this song ...

  • Thank you! GREAT upload. I can't imagine this is an easy song to perform live, and they were simply brilliant.

  • I've just realised david guetta stole the guitar part from this song and used it in "the world is mine"; petty thieves those house music producers

  • its not stealing its sampling and its not just in house music its done in hip hop rnb pop even rock its an appreciation for a certain part of the song and if you read the cd it says contain excerpts from simple minds so its not really stealing just gaining help

  • Listent a new version of one of the best song of the 80's! Someone somewhere... 2009's version on myspace gariac

  • I saw them in Glasgow on the 11th Dec 2009 and they still rock xx

  • t'es la mon coeur?

  • What a great intro

  • Fucking Hell!!....Jim, Charlie you had it all! Where did it all go wrong!

  • First thing they did wrong was get rid of (let leave?) Derek Forbes!

  • I agree. I saw them in '86 and his replacement was weak.

  • Agreed @DeathMetalDouglas68 Saw them in '86 myself. Radio City Music Hall.

  • @kramerbassplayer

hi..1st of all j apologize 4 my english!in my opinion(j love both band simple minds and U2)..there's no match ,simple minds are a better live band! mel gayonor, derek forbes, mick mcneil are better musicians compared with larry mullen and adam clayton(jim,bono,tie..charlie ,edge tie),btw j saw 15 simple minds gigs,1st 1 in 1984 and 12 u2 gigs ,1st 1 in1985! j think simple minds are a better band ,very underrated!ciao greetings from italy!

  • spikelive:

I totally agree with everything you said. I saw both bands for the first time same years as you!!!! Adam Clayton was a great bassist back in the day, very innovative. I've been to Italy , beautiful country, and women.... greetings from USA my friend.

  • @spikelive I got a video from the nineties live in verona. They were great and did you proud!

  • @DeathMetalDouglas68 I heard Forbes left because he didn't like the direction Kerr wanted the band to go in. In my biased opinion (being a bassist) Forbes along with Gaynor on drums were the Simple Minds.

  • Forbes had a more natural chemistry w/ McGee than Gaynor. As much as I like "Sparkle In The Rain" I don't think Forbes was as influencial to the band's sound at that point. His performance on "Don't You Forget About Me" (his last recording with SM??) was pretty weak. Their later stuff he would have been moved to the backround as well. If Adam Clayton had left U2 in '83/'84 we would think they suck w/out him. Yet he's still there, his basslines are not what they were and they are a joke now.

  • @DeathMetalDouglas68 Agree w/ everything stated. U2 does blow now.

  • I'm a bassist also and when Forbes was first out of the band I considered it quite a loss. Nowadays I really think that losing Micheal MacNeil on keys in '90 was an even bigger deal. Eddie Duffy does the Simple Minds bass sound more justice than Giblin intially did but those keyboard sounds are gone forever. MacNeil was not only a talented keysman but he took a lot of the synth presets and programs (I'm sure he created most of them) with him.

  • La loro canzone che preferisco...una rosa tra fiori comunque bellissimi...

  • David Guetta est un vendu au systeme !!!

  • classic album this is..

  • Who the fuck is David Quetta? or whatever he's called. Long live Simple Minds, Mick and Derek. What an awesome song. This was me, my pals, my girfriend and my VW Rabbit in 1983.....Yeahhhh! Loved it then and love it now!

  • David Guetta's a DJ who plagiarized this song down to the lyrics.

  • The World Is Mine anybody?

  • Never realised til now that Rowan Atkinson modelled Blackadder's hairstyle on Jim Kerr

  • Sacré look, c'était avant "Don't you"

  • C'était l'bon temps.

  • Wassen Gemäuse!

  • tien le sample de david guetta ou il est allé le chercher lol

  • Without Derek FORBES the band is different...

  • aye, live too, magic

  • Ahhh the memories. What a wonderful song!

  • too good too soon

  • Good Choice by David Guetta (The World is mine) !

  • omg yes!!!

  • always SO GREAT....

  • Love the song....they are awesome live

  • As a Glasweigan I am deeply ashamed that I never saw them live when they were at the top of their game, although their new album is excellent.

  • ashamed to be a glasweigan is enough mate...

  • True, and Kerr stays with his early ideas while Bono throwed his overboard...

  • 86, croke park. thanks TICH

  • they re doing a free concert in Luxembourg on the 5th of july

  • at the time just broke up with the "love of my life" these guys saved my life!

  • David Guetta Stole a sampling from this song in his ''The world is mine''

  • gary oldman is the shit good actor as well

  • Bought this LP in the 80ies, i'm proud of it. They had a very innovative sound at that time. Cool cover Design, btw...

  • Jim can't dance though

  • this reminds me of happy times

  • unfortunately bands like this will not born again

  • very nice song

  • This song is forever linked in my mind to the North Shore of Hawaii in 1986. I wandered into a surf shop playing this dreamy summer tune and was reminded just have far behind I had left a dreary Baltimore winter. Great memories.

  • Reminds me of the early 80's in the North of Scotland..easy times

  • Hy, and many thx from germany for posting this vid. Have a look at Jim Kerr, he´s really so young..unbeliveable....

  • god i love this song

    and somewhere there is someone

who can see what I can see!

  • the old eternal debate like comparing irish and scotch whiskey or whisky depending on were you were born. i like both and both are similair but very different like simple minds and u2

  • reminds me of being 13 again..the Jam split and Simple minds took over...........superb

  • i meant that the musical style, even bonos stage shapes he casts are very simple minds....stole their pig and away they ran

like u2 as well but look at them now compared to where s/minds are

  • sometimes the most gifted get left behind ! but the minds legacy remains and outshines the mightiest star of u2 !!! simple minds the inovative band in the last 30 years !!!!!!!!!!!

  • u2 probably didnt mean iy but they did it.....stole a pig...........

  • not understand pete what you mean ?

  • One of the best Simple Minds songs. Pure bliss.

  • Best scottish band ever.

  • @blatants That would have to be The Associates. Oh, hang on a minute, could be the Cocteau Twins or maybe The Blue Ni.....
