@DaHazzMan I've got a lovely Phase 1 Custom, took me about 15 years to find a really clean one in the U.K, I also had a Phase 4, but sold that after years of owning (I bought a Made In Japan Jazzmaster Big Block '66 R.I with the money) These guitars are amazing, almost bought a black Phase 1 custom back in 2001?, wish I had now, rare as rocking horse shit!

great review, awsome hi flier, i have a univox hi flier phase 2 with P90's and it sounds lush.

Eastwood is making a new version.....a Phase 4 in white with maple frets board.....looks sweet. I had an original I bought new in 1977....a black pahse four. It was sweet. I just bought one.....phase four black...on ebay.....but with seymour duncans. I will post a review soon.

Breeeeeeeeddd!!! Sounds & looks Awesome, Joe! Idk anything about this guitar, tho the body looks quite large, tho you said its very light. So I must ask, is it "much" lighter than say a strat? Btw I would'nt be suprised at all if that is Kurt's Guitar, as your own instincts give you that feeling!!!

Hey man, i've found one and i'm buying it soon but it's right handed, i'm a lefty and i noticed when you were playing you were strumming over the neck pickup, is that just you or is the jack socket it the way? thanks and subscribed

@DaHazzMan Yea, Univox only made right handed guitars as far as I know. I was probably just strumming that way because I was sitting down...the jack is on the top but if you buy a right angle guitar cord you won't have any problem at all! Where did you find it and how much? I'd love to see pics!

@BrewersArcade I got it off eBay for 300 pounds (not sure how many dollars) and it's in the same sunburst as yours :) i don't know how to put up pictures of it though

My dad has a regular univox with the tan pick ups and I have to say it's better then my jaguar Kurt rules!!!!!!! It looks like the one from heart shaped box but in black

I'd try contacting fender, they would have his details from getting that book made, call them first asking for someone in head office,then send an email with story and pics. Reckon they'd help, failing that I'd do the same with rollingstone or guitar mag.. Someone would be keen as from either one of them to find our if it is.... Good luck!

@BrewersArcade There one in my local craigslist, a 1970 I think, good condition, original P-90 PUP's for $270, grab it or not? Only looking at one for a beater guitar when i don't wanna risk my better guitar, go for it ya think?

@BrewersArcade One of the guys online who has one of the sites that tells all about kurts guitars actually got to see kurts collection of guitars and amps to make the site. I think he got in touch with Earnie Bailey, so I would try E-Mailing that guy and see what he has to say

awesome review, joe. i seriously wouldnt doubt that is Kurdts personal guitar. it is exact looking. if you get a chance, check out the september 1992 show in argentina. the bootleg is on youtube. He plays the hi flyer for half the show before switching to the comp mustang and a white strat. its awesome! thanks again.

@TheSkillinDylan I just watched the Argentina footage...in that show the Univox custom still has the original plastic tuners. If you watch the Saturday Night Live video footage his tuners are upgraded to chrome ones like on my guitar...I need to watch more of the Argentina footage. I may post an up close detailed video of my Univox Custom so we can all compare!
