I'm a huge fan of the original (naturally) but I also really like Weezer and don't begrudge them for this. The instrumentals are everything I could ever hope for and more. Sick as hell in fact and I'm really loving the grunge revival feel and don't get me started o the drums! However the vocals are just...meh.
Talk Talk have been on my play list since their beginning, seen live in Pgh, PA in the early 80's. Covers can be brilliant and junk. Weezer owns this and creates a GREAT feeling, gives me the same chills as the original does and what of the other attempts to cover this? All end up on the junk side, just painful to even hear them played. just sayin'
no negatives here, wow, the fact that the boys covered this delicious song and gave it a new breath of life is refreshing with all of the bullshit that counts as music now
good remake. No problem with that. I was 14 or 15 when the original was released by Talk Talk. Why should there be a problem? Weezer is a good band, they don't get stuck with any style so why should take up on a song and spin the experiment.
Music is there to be played around with, its not your granny's tea set ;-)
I'm as hardcore as the next Talk Talk fan out there, but I disagree with most comments and give props to Weezer for their interpretation. I'll also listen to the original til the day I die, but if there is anything I take away from being blessed with knowing Talk Talk, it's an openness to experimental evolving tastes.
What an awful, awful 'tribute' to an amazing song and band. If you are not familiar with the original, I beg you to immediately stop this noise and listen to Talk Talk. This is lacking ALL of Talk Talk's brilliance...
Not too bad, flounders a little...

While on the subject, I'll add that I also really like Roam's remake of this song on the album "Points of Departure"

the fact that you have to tell us the original band disqualifies them from having credence over rivers

an 80's band called Talk Talk. They also originally did "It's My Life"...which Gwen Stefani covered and then turned into a teenage-girl anthem

Dammit Gwen, I knew it sounded too 80s to be true! The original is pretty sweet.
