I doubt it's that specific. I've found for the sake of interpretation songwriter's often leave it open ended so it can reach more people. To me, I think it's just the natural ebb and flow of love. Generally speaking when things come apart that's when they're needed most. It's very rare to find anything steadfast that won't leave, break, dissolve over time, etc. That's just me.
