My mother once cooked breakfast for Clarence at a friends house one late night in a small town in Western New York. After the Byrds played a concert there, there wasn't anyplace open for a meal so they came with us on the promise of free food.

Skip Batten had a broken ankle so he stayed at the Holiday Inn, but Clarence, Roger McGuinn and Gene Parsons all came and hung out for about two hours. My mother said they were very nice young men. Hell yeah, I was only seventeen but even I knew that.

Clarence was a super guitarist and I love his voice - he should a sung more often
