This theme goes from being a relatively happy one to the saddest piece of music composed in history in the space of a few minutes at the end of episode 16.
when Ushio and Tomoya were in the bus and Ushio told her father to tell her about Nagisa, and before Tomoya could say much, he started leaking tears from the memories of her. I dunno why, but the reflecting on her life and how she was affected me more than her death. Not to say I didn't have wet eyes during her death :(

I never quite understood why Nagisa was often shoved aside by the fandom in favor of Tomoyo and Kyou. Sure, she was meek, but for all of that uncertainty she was the one who was pushing Tomoya forward most of the time. And at the end of the day the other heroines feel so geared toward an archetype to the point of losing sincerity; with no mold to fall back on she had to rely purely on her character, and I'll be damned if I said After Story didn't cement her as my favorite Clannad character.
This show seems to suspend society and the pretenses of the people we see. It makes all other factors transparent, leaving us with the raw emotions to prevail. To show us what relates us all and how to feel a part of it.

This is one of the best and most emotional pieces of music out there. I guess you have to have watched the anime to really get the emotional punch. But still; it bears repeating, this song is so amazing: at once ecstatically happy, and profoundly sad. Just like the show.

I relate to Fuuko and Kotomi-chan the most. I'm smart and sometimes people dont' understand me that well. I'm also really socially awkward. But, in contrast, with my friends I'm random and like the little sister of the group like fuuko. Fuuko and Kotomi were without a doubt my favorite characters. Although Tomoyo was up there too.
Reading all these comments and listing to Nagisa's theme really touches me but no other anime will touch me in my heart like this anime did. I tried too look for a anime just like this one but couldn't find one like this it. Thank you so much Clannad for cheering me up and for bringing the other me out that no one could.
Clannad - A story, fiction, but real nonetheless. A tale of love, friendship, and hardship, all in a way that could be in any real person's life. A story to say, that no matter what life brings, no matter how hard your roads are, never regret or miss out on the happiness you are given, for it is a treasure that can never be replaced. The people who are with you are treasures themselves, small pieces of that happiness, with whom life would not be the same without. Love always, never give up.
Also the music is all well timed and fiting to each moment. The visuals are nice and colourful. the comedy parts are amussing and entertaining. Although some of the random fuko apearing parts can get annouying although i enjoyed the fuko charather and some of them are amussing. it is the only flaw i could see within this lovely series, everyone should see this once in there lives
the thing i loved about this series was how nagisa and tomoya's relationship grew, happy the writters let it form naturaly (letting it happen over time) which made it seem realistic. slowly the viewers wanting them to be together until it happens in final episode which was what the series was slowly building towards imo. Also most of the charather interactions were done realisticly and all the charathers were relateable in some way or another. Its the best piece of writing i've seen in anything
I just finshed watching the after story.... i watched the OVA and the original.... and i cried so much. including the movie as well. Clannad is such a gorgeous and sad anime. It will always. Forever until I die, my favorite anime. For anybody that has not watched it. You must.
I want to go to drama school... I used to not want to go because I'd usually get afraid over doing new things and want to drop out, but this anime really encouraged me to follow my dream like Nagisa did. I used to be a really weak, shy and pathetic person with no confidence and I never had any friends, but thanks to this I've made lots more friends, and I've started trying to see the positive in things and not the negative. Wow that sounds really lame, but I just wanted to say thankyou, so much.

I think this has got to be the most emotional song ever created. It has so many different versions, and the melody is so saddening.. I could listen to this 20 years from now and still cry from it
It's been a very long time since I finished Clannad. This some comes up in itunes shuffle every now and then. After all this time I still stop what I'm doing and take it all in. I don't really remember the key moments of the show when I hear it anymore, I just remember the message of the song.
I think the reason a lot of people felt so emotional toward this, is the fact the characters all had some sort of problem that we could relate to. As a matter of fact I'm a bit like Nagisa, I am a guy but I fall ill very easily, and even the common cold makes me bed ridden for a week or so. I'm also socially awkward and had family problems, making it easy to relate to Tomoya. And you get connected.. And especially with the tone of the music, all of the feelings rush into me.
@vercinotrix I see your point with people able to relate but they also put alot into the character development. They have a story with which they pull people into unlike so many that just go from one event to another. They had all these little events with each character that tied them all together. And it did get to the point where people fell in love with what they were watching and cried. Atleast i can say that for it showed me how much i missed my family for when Nagisa and Ushio died.
*spoilers here* This show has effected me like nothing else I've ever seen, heard or read. I cried like a baby for an hour, nothing has made me cry like when she died. This show is just a man trying to live his life, be with his wife, who is so innocent and has done so much for him. Watching her died was single handedly the most tragic thing ever. I will remember this show for the rest of my life, and hopefully watch it with my wife someday.
Love this theme. Clannad is an emotional roller-coaster. It'll make you cry like a baby, laugh like a fool and make you realize how important and valuable life and family are.

And yes, This song is so full of emotion, it's just amazing, beautiful and brings tears to my eyes. Such a heart felt theme. I just love this anime. There needs to be more like this. Down to earth, rather then super magical girls flying around. I thought at first it would be a boring anime, but fell in love with it right away!
@xBeccaMariex Like what? i dont know any other that can beat this anime series besides DBZ. unlike other anime shows this one actually has a plot, usually other anime shows they slowly change the plot of the story but this one slowly build up the tension in season one but on season 2 it just releases it like a punch to the face. The one thing that this anime taught me is that you should never take for granted the people around you and the people in your life. Even if you feel stuck and unshure about things, you can always find strength and purpose in being their for the people who are their for you. Times change everything, and just because things seem as they are now doesnt mean they will be like that for long. Value each moment, they are all special.

Very lovely! But in my oppinion, Blood Plus and Code Geass are the best! ^-^ This is very nice though, I love it and I've only seen parts of the anime! Seems amazing though, I shall give it another chance to watch! :3 && I think it's amazing how so many people all over the world say it's their favorite anime as well, you get to meet people who cherish it as much as you do. I relate to Fuuko and Kotomi-chan the most. I'm smart and sometimes people dont' understand me that well. I'm also really socially awkward. But, in contrast, with my friends I'm random and like the little sister of the group like fuuko. Fuuko and Kotomi were without a doubt my favorite characters. Although Tomoyo was up there too.

Reading all these comments and listing to Nagisa's theme really touches me but no other anime will touch me in my heart like this anime did. Also the music is all well timed and fiting to each moment. The visuals are nice and colourful. the comedy parts are amussing and entertaining. Although some of the random fuko apearing parts can get annouying although i enjoyed the fuko charather and some of them are amussing. it is the only flaw i could see within this lovely series, everyone should see this once in there lives

the thing i loved about this series was how nagisa and tomoya's relationship grew, happy the writters let it form naturaly (letting it happen over time) which made it seem realistic. slowly the viewers wanting them to be together until it happens in final episode which was what the series was slowly building towards imo. Also most of the charather interactions were done realisticly and all the charathers were relateable in some way or another. Its the best piece of writing i've seen in anything

I just finshed watching the after story.... i watched the OVA and the original.... and i cried so much. including the movie as well. Clannad is such a gorgeous and sad anime. It will always. Forever until I die, my favorite anime. For anybody that has not watched it. You must.

I want to go to drama school... I used to not want to go because I'd usually get afraid over doing new things and want to drop out, but this anime really encouraged me to follow my dream like Nagisa did. I used to be a really weak, shy and pathetic person with no confidence and I never had any friends, but thanks to this I've made lots more friends, and I've started trying to see the positive in things and not the negative. Wow that sounds really lame, but I just wanted to say thankyou, so much.

It's been a very long time since I finished Clannad. This some comes up in itunes shuffle every now and then. After all this time I still stop what I'm doing and take it all in. I don't really remember the key moments of the show when I hear it anymore, I just remember the message of the song.

I think the reason a lot of people felt so emotional toward this, is the fact the characters all had some sort of problem that we could relate to. As a matter of fact I'm a bit like Nagisa, I am a guy but I fall ill very easily, and even the common cold makes me bed ridden for a week or so. I'm also socially awkward and had family problems, making it easy to relate to Tomoya. And you get connected.. And especially with the tone of the music, all of the feelings rush into me.

@vercinotrix I see your point with people able to relate but they also put alot into the character development. They have a story with which they pull people into unlike so many that just go from one event to another. They had all these little events with each character that tied them all together. And it did get to the point where people fell in love with what they were watching and cried. Atleast i can say that for it showed me how much i missed my family for when Nagisa and Ushio died.

*spoilers here* This show has effected me like nothing else I've ever seen, heard or read. I cried like a baby for an hour, nothing has made me cry like when she died. This show is just a man trying to live his life, be with his wife, who is so innocent and has done so much for him. Watching her died was single handedly the most tragic thing ever. I will remember this show for the rest of my life, and hopefully watch it with my wife someday.

What is the name of the song with the actual Japanese singing in it? The one that plays at the very end of After Story, when it shows the 'True Ending ' .
And yes, This song is so full of emotion, it's just amazing, beautiful and brings tears to my eyes. Such a heart felt theme. I just love this anime. There needs to be more like this. Down to earth, rather then super magical girls flying around. I thought at first it would be a boring anime, but fell in love with it right away!

@xBeccaMariex Like what? i dont know any other that can beat this anime series besides DBZ. unlike other anime shows this one actually has a plot, usually other anime shows they slowly change the plot of the story but this one slowly build up the tension in season one but on season 2 it just releases it like a punch to the face. Its unexpected and heart breaking. If u really have something better then this please share im looking for other anime like this

i wish i could sing in an orchestra to emphasize my feelings of the show clannad its the best anime i have ever seen will watch no questions asked if possible make a play of clannad in episodes or something i would do anything for the show 2 continue but Im glad it ended the way it did. i know i made the Atlantic ocean after this show but i have no reason to not watch it i will remember it always introduce it 2 my kids and then hopefully clannad will live on that's my dream thumbs up if agree

The one thing that this anime taught me is that you should never take for granted the people around you and the people in your life. Even if you feel stuck and unshure about things, you can always find strength and purpose in being their for the people who are their for you. Times change everything, and just because things seem as they are now doesnt mean they will be like that for long. Value each moment, they are all special.
