  • Hey man nice video. i had a question though, im learning how to use my middle voice and I'm kinda getting a rugged tone like Issac Slade which I kind of like but I seem to be getting a scrachy feeling in my throat. It's not really a tension type feeling so I don't know if it's concerning. I feel as though im doing the right technique. Could it just be because my mixed voice is somewhat new and not fully developed yet?

  • Nice video^^ and nice cat^^

  • I don't sing and never could. I watched this Drew, and thought you were insane ;)

  • hey drew!!!! help me!! i been trying to get into my mix since for ever!!! but i can never do it!!!! i question my self a lot to weather im there or not!!!!!! i have the singing success program but... i can never sound like the examples... my suppose mix voice is too heady.. and i dont know how to put more deepnest to it!!!! cause i can find my high and low head and my chest voice to a certain point to were i start straining.. and i now im supose to mix there... but i dont know how to do it!!hel

  • @dominicano94 : Don't worry....all singers have issues to work through...including me.. I still have issues to work on. I think voice is a life long effort to be better tomorrow than today. If you'd like to set up a session, write me privately here and we'll set something up over skype. I'll give you the details in the Email, but it's cake, and we can jump into your voice and help you get that mix you want.

    Peace

    Drew

  • @FLATTSFANATIC WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO SET UP A SECCION WITH YOU??

  • @dominicano94 : Hit me up privately and I'll send you all the info...we'll go from there...

  • Do you feel the things you talk about are primarily applicable for tenors?

  • @muzician21 : I mostly talk about things that deal with tenors because that's what I am...bvut they work for every kind of voice. it's all about getting in and out of all of your registers. Hope that helps

  • Do u believe that anyone can learn to sing with enough coaching/practice? Thanks.

  • dude i need your help....i will be competing in a singing competition, called ipop, and am in serious need of a vocal coach...i have the raw talent, you can check out my vids, but i just dont have the confidence in my voice as much as i believe i should....if you're interested, please message me and let me know what you would charge

  • I live in Arizona where its really dry. and i was wondering if the is anyway to keep your voice from sounding dry if that makes sense?

  • where can you get HA?

  • Hey Drew,

I'm not sure if you covered it or whatever but I was wondering when I'm coming into a High note, and I'm fairly new to singing, would it help to intro the highnote with a lower tone and slowly move up, or skip in?

  • @4Alpha7Kilo : At the end of the day I compress and whine. After you get in and out of all of your registers...keep it simple..head ...chest. Then get your voice zipped up...then as you go to hit the high notes instead of just yelling....cry...lean in and stretch. You'll get it. I have some exercises that I swear by if you'd like to set up a session. Just let me know.

    Peace

    Drew

  • @FLATTSFANATIC how i can get hit high notes . when im singing one of martinas songs?

  • Be careful, Drew may have never followed Brett's course. Brett Maning is hiring a lot of vocalists to do ads for him, he's paying a good sum.

I downloaded his method, nothing special, it's basic singing course with no deep teaching.

  • @SheRMaRoC : Mmm...I must be doing something right...persecution. I don't make a dime from Brett. so you can rest easy. I do very well without ever mentioning his name. Although he's not the only amazing coach I have worked or understudied with, he certainly is a genuinely amazing vocal coach...and all around person...my personal fav. As for vocal packages...they're never nearly as good as "in house" sessions cause everyones voice has different needs. Try one and then decide.

    Peace

  • A little funny that I saw your cat's tail there for a while x) We are in between, you're really, really, really good !!!!!!!

  • Nice vid mate :D you remind me so much of chandler from friends

  • Hey great vid, I remember you talking about how you got vocal nodes or damage of some sort.

I 'm pretty sure I got some vocal damage due to abusing my voice. Do you no longer have vocal nodules or do they not interfere with your singing.

  • Even your cat was attracted to your voice :D

  • Awesome! :-) So talk me through mine, cos I have no idea what you just said :-) ;-)

  • Please Drew , your camera : what brand and how many megapixel !!!

  • @ShinPericlitor : I have two cameras...but this one is a flip ...regular run of the mill....NOT HD. I don't even know if they sell the non HD version anymore. But get yourself a flip and you'll be happy.

    PEACE!

  • @FLATTSFANATIC i wanna just buy camera for register good my voice like you , P.S just camera without mike , but i don't have a idea about it ='(

  • All GREAT stuff here Drew... and you're right... Brett is the BEST! (I figured you were a Brett trained vocalist =) His program is awesome... especially "Mastering Mix"... Brett and Seth have trained or worked with nearly ALL the big name vocalists that are popular today... their stuff IS for real and it WILL blow you away how your voice changes as you apply the principles they teach!

  • @dejablueguitar : =0) Yeah Bretts the bomb. I went to a level 5 SLS coach for months and didn't learn what he taught me in 15 mins. LOL! He was the break through I was needed. It breaks my heart how many singers need this but don;'t have it. The best singers are RARELY as good as they are by not working at it. Thanks for the kind thoughts...wishing you the best.

  • yea very helpful even if for quick tipss....

    bless u bro

  • Glad to hear it....peace!

  • By the way. Do you believe "everyone" can learn how to sing, or is it certain people who have "the thing" to sing?

  • @PrizmoLocksage : That's a REALLY good question. There's no doubt that there are people out there who want to sing and regardless of teaching won't ever get it. I've had one or two clients I had to let go because it was a lost cause. But MOST people can learn to sing better. More than "learning" it's just about setting up your voice right...like a tune up. Hope that hellps!

  • maybe...u should teach me in skype heheh ^_^....

    anyway...ur awesome!

  • @corrvinavampIII : hahaaa..let me know....Thanks for teh comment.

  • @FLATTSFANATIC Realy? wow...thats would be Awesome :)!!!

  • This is awesome buddy! I think some of this stuff will really help me! I appreciate you posting this!

  • @diglit9 : Glad to hear it man....I know it changed mine. Hope you're well!

    Drew

  • Do you have any tips for rock vocals?

  • @oCAPEWEAVERo : yeah....there's a major tip I give people...get into a place between falsetto and chest...and flip back and forth until you find a real tone..in the middle...and then try and sing...it'll be hard without hearing it...but then you gotta get BACK ..way back in your throat...and then go for it...hope that helps.

    Drew

  • I use Aussie Vocal Coach. He's a great teacher. I also have Singing Success. But when I tried to use that I almost messed up my vocals. Since I was basically re-writing what I know for singing. Not a good Idea. Thanks Drew for posting this. Good on the A4 BTW! :)

  • @xmaddict : =0) yeah....when people start to re write their voices it can be an interesting thing. But once you put the time into it...it really pays off. Glad to hear you've found your way. I should also say that I tried the singing success package as well...and although it helped...it was nothing like Bretts in house sessions. That's when I was a believer...CONVERTED! LOL!

    PEace!!

  • Ironically. I have a issue with wanted to keep connected in my upper range that If I need falsetto I try to have a closed falsetto. It's hard for me to access falsetto since all training is to keep the cords closed.

  • @xmaddict : Right....It's true...so many people after a long time of learning the head mix have a more difficult time getting a true falsetto...but I think it's worth the range for sure. Helps to do it quiet...and with an open vowel..That'll poush them apart. good luck!

  • Love the addition of vocal fry. :)

  • I have issues bridging my mix to head. Head and up and mix and lower is ok. I'm working on getting a good bridge. I have to "cry" into the upper mix or add nasal resonance.

  • Now that I'm taking Brett Manning's Singing Success this is all starting to make sense now. The most helpful bit for me was when you spoke about 'starting with an eee' sound for every note of your voice. This was something I never did, I just tried to hit the notes straight away with no cry or anything. Great advice, Drew! And a great video!

Keep it up, man. You're a big inspiration to me and singers all over the world!

  • @JoeLovetteMusic : Glad to hear this helped. yeah...I have to cry on the high notes because I carry so much weight in my voice. Hopefully this changes your life. Good luck!

    Drew

  • great voice btw =D

  • great video =) awesum tips too

    i cud use em :D

  • Amazing as usual :) thnx for the tips, wish you the best in ur career!
