  • Shane has a point they work for you so they need to stop bitching and make what ever you damn well please, i mean its not there decision. People get plastic surgery to makes themselves look a certain way and there doctors dont complain and they have to perform the possibly life threatening procedure.

"The customer is always right" (old business saying)

  • My ocularist has agreed to make me a designed eye. He says he has made them before but I haven't seen his work. He is a real nice guy and had no problem with me asking for a designed eye. Here is his info, I hope he can help you. Ask for Jim Layton. Layton Optical

  • Does it really matter if he has a prosthetic eye. He was in Iraq he lost his eye trying to protect our Country. And you wanna say he got his eye like tht bc he wanted ppl to notice it. I think tht he should o wht ever he wants with his eye :3

  • You lost it in Iraq? Do you think many people with prosthetic eyes make them look obviously like something else than matching because it give them something of a "badge" and garners some sympathy? If it matches, nobody would care or ask..I would guess you milk this injury as often as possible. You volunteered for service. Taxpayers now pay for the eye..when you get tired of your cyborg eye and want a natural looking one..we will pay again. That's why a Doctor doesnt want to make one.

  • @Jcsharitz Luckly I dont need to ask for your permission to get my eyes. And milk it for sympathy? i dont need sympathy or people to feel bad about what happened. Im proud of my service so yes it is a badge. and you either have issue with the service or just are an ass. either way life must suck for you being so negative.

  • Hello Shane, i have just lost an eye, please can i talk to u privately, do u have an email? im not just very comfortable saying it all here. please help me. just listen to me for a second.

  • ya cant fuckin wait till they start makin custom ones in ireland.

  • When I had my second eye made, I asked about having a design on it (something int he future) and he said that many people have designs on their eyes. This is in Boston MA. I'm surprised that they rejected the idea. Not all insurances have the prosthetic rider so we have to pay for it out of pocket ($2500 for a scleral shell)

They are artists and should do what is asked of them.

  • My Husband lost his left eye in 2007 OEF. He got his Prosthetic made at Ericsons Labs in Kirkland Wa. He Wanted a eye with a design, like urs but the denied it. But the did slip just a white Mold in his case as a lil suprise for him. He was very excited. X room mates of ours had a party & his real looking Prosthetic was stolen so he just wears the white eye mainly.

  • ON the other hand, we are paying for them, so I think that subject to having councilling first to discuss the ramifications of choosing to look facially peculiar, we should be able to have them look however we wish. Personally, I would only wear an oddball prosthetic on Halloween, though.

  • Well, I think the point the ocluarists are making is that they don't want to make things harder than they already are. Maybe you have fun with it, but there are those who would ridicule someone who looks odd, which is why you get a prosthetic (so it will look normal). It is good that you can just get a new one if you don't want to not be the outcast known for the wierd eye, but most people would look at you like you have tatoos on your face. I like mine to match so as to get back my looks.

  • Why should doctors care what design we get on our eyes? As long as I am paying for it do your job and shut up. Although my real problem is not with ocularists, but other doctors who realize you have a prothesis and then it becomes show and tell and every doctor on that floor is brought in to look at you like you are a circus freak.

  • my dad has a glass eye and its fuckin kick ass

  • I hate when people are douchey enough to be rude to someone who's less fortunate and has done nothing to make them say that.

  • i see that you have a guitar in the back.

do you know how to play it, if you do could you make a vid of you playing it?

  • omg like.....only 1,630 views..........

ok y are they snubbing u?

ok so how hard are things 4 you?

  • I know i'm a little late, but i just saw this Vid...Im a one eyer:) and my Doc Tim Friel works for John Hopkins, he works outta Baltimore and Bethesda he is freakn Awesome and told me when I'm ready for a cool eye he'd make whatever I wanted..So if anybody needs a good eye maker in Maryland he's ur man!

  • why are you wearing your cover without the embrel

  • Because its My Cover from Military school, Not Actual Army

  • wow! you're so hottt!

  • wtf......

  • I mean im lucky enough to have two eyes but still its you eye and your the one living with the fake so why dont they just make the design you want it makes no sense but enyhow i think your brave living with one eye its scares me to think about losing and eye much love x

  • I lost my entire right knee and over half the femur to a bone tumour in 2001. I didn't have insurance and had to take the surgery the state gave me, which meant the unit didn't fit right. Now, because I had no say in which unit they put in me, I'm in a lot of pain. My point is, it's your body, and I agree--you should be able to have a say in what goes into it.

  • I think there are other factors aswell .. fear of being discriminated by the board of American society of ocularists etc. It's a conservative field of practice.. I'd be keen to find more details about your Hollywood ocularist aswell! :)

  • True about the pressure from othere DR.s But they must remember in the end they work for us. And its not a normal medical field, Its Art as well.

  • don't kid yourself, they work for Boards, Trustees, and insurance companies... if you think any differently... well ingnorance in bliss....
