this is garbage.. not a how-to video. Flagged for misleading title, and thumbs down.
everyone do the same and maybe one day, we can all unite, and rid youtube of worthless videos!!! or at the very least, see the "like/dislike" bars under every thumbnail BEFORE WE CLICK ON IT
I've never seen a grinding wheel as badly maintained as the first one they show, and I've seen high school shops! Ever hear of dressing a wheel? No wonder you break the ceramics you touch! Heheh looked like something Tim Conway would use on the Carol Burnett show as Harvey Korman taps his foot impatiently and Carol cries over her destroyed cutlery.
@snowdjagha derp, of course they do. My Kyocera needs resharpening as it can't even pass a basic paper cut test. If they don't need resharpening why do Kyocera offer the service? shame it costs €15
How to Sharpen a Ceramic Knife? very easy: send it back to the factory! now that's a "how to" video! and it takes a true expert to come up with this, too!
I actually broke one of the tips off a ceramic knife of mine, i put the tip and edge back on and sharpened it good as new with a Tormek sharpening system. downside: it took about 30 minutes and a Tormek cost about $700 bucks! i tried to use a diamond stone by hand, the edge just kept chipping, it made like micro serrations. had to use the tormek to get it right.
if a simple, basic tool like a knife requires to be sent to a factory in japan for re-sharpening, something is very, very wrong here. it's like sending your shoes to the factory to have them polished.
i stand corrected, but in essence my statement is valid. when you have a dinner party and your knife is blunt, you need to be able to put a good edge on it in minutes. why take a tool that anyone with opposable thumbs can maintain with little effort, and turn it into something that requires specialized attention hundreds on miles away? i know ceramic knives are popular in some quarters, and i have used them, but i just don't see it.

They do NO break like glass. They are almost as hard as diamonds.

You didn't say how to sharpen a ceramic knife in a video titled "how to sharpen a ceramic knife"......

He said to send it back to the factory. If, I ever own one and it gets dull, that's exaclty what I will do.
If the factory wrecks your knife sharpening it, it would just send you a new one.
