Leslie's got a style of his own, and I like him for his oriental voice (maybe that's what all other Chinese should do instead of going into pop and what, rock?) SHIN & Wu Yue Tian's a joke.

you've been going on about this for like 8 months lol. I know a lot of people who find gary's voice annoying, it is slightly whiny but you can the emotion in it which justifies it. he does sing chinese songs better but in terms of musicality pitch and range it is amazing. I admit a lot of c-pop singers are not that good, but the few like lee hom, jj lin a-mei nicky lee, jay (for his music) jam elva and others make it worth listening to. i love coco but she kind of failed in the american market

I do listen to some mando-pop, and that's why I've decided not to get near it anymore. Jackie Cheung and Leslie Cheung are brilliant singers who ruled the Canto-pops, but I can never agree to Gary's My Way as even close to good. Because that song carries a meaning, and he overturned it.

The only reason why contemporary Chinese singers lack quality are because the Music industries tends sign people with good looks instead of a good voice. But still, there are a lot of Chinese singers with beautiful unique voices. like A-mei, Jacky Cheung, David Tao, Gary Cao, Hacken Lee, Lee hom etc etc etc. Too many to list. Well gary has a powerful voice and he sings well.. lots of ppl would agree with what im saying, coz thats the fact. Leslie's got a style of his own, and I like him for his oriental voice (maybe that's what all other Chinese should do instead of going into pop and what, rock?) SHIN & Wu Yue Tian's a joke.

you've been going on about this for like 8 months lol. I know a lot of people who find gary's voice annoying, it is slightly whiny but you can the emotion in it which justifies it. he does sing chinese songs better but in terms of musicality pitch and range it is amazing. I admit a lot of c-pop singers are not that good, but the few like lee hom, jj lin a-mei nicky lee, jay (for his music) jam elva and others make it worth listening to. i love coco but she kind of failed in the american market

Personally i listen to Leslie Zhang's singing all the time due to my friend that idolize him.
LIke most of the youtubers said, he is your cup of tea and gary is not. As for me, i really dont like Leslie zhang. he just sucks totally in singing, he shld have focus more in acting. In terms of vocal range, techniques and vocal power, gary totally is better.

He has problems with phonics, pretty clear when he sings this song. I listened to a few mando-pops, and I hear from Chinese in all countries like Taiwan, HK, M'sia and SG. That's when I thought, only Coco Lee and a few people can actually sing

I do listen to some mando-pop, and that's why I've decided not to get near it anymore. Jackie Cheung and Leslie Cheung are brilliant singers who ruled the Canto-pops, but I can never agree to Gary's My Way as even close to good. Because that song carries a meaning, and he overturned it.

The only reason why contemporary Chinese singers lack quality are because the Music industries tends sign people with good looks instead of a good voice. But still, there are a lot of Chinese singers with beautiful unique voices. like A-mei, Jacky Cheung, David Tao, Gary Cao, Hacken Lee, Lee hom etc etc etc. Too many to list. You've probably been living abroad for too long, you are out of touch with the East. Either that or you want to aspire to become "white". Either way your ignorantly SAD! =)

Singing is something you acquire (with a few exceptions of course), it' takes practice silly. Btw Stop referencing Coco lee, her voice is nowhere near exceptional. The Taiwanese Industry (where singers from SG and Msia went to carve their names in) needs a lot of exposure and 'maturity', not nurture singers like S.H.E and He Wei Jian who easily screwed their way into entertainment when they only sing like you and me.
Look at Coco lee, Jackie Cheung, Robbie Williams, Sarah Geronimo, and even the young Kelly Clarkson. We're talking about peanuts to the big thing. Just hear the voice quality of Jay Chou and David Cook.

Well gary has a powerful voice and he sings well.. lots of ppl would agree with what im saying, coz thats the fact. First of all, yes we cant expect all singers will be given positive comments due to diff ppl has diff taste. Secondly, i am proud of being a malaysian chinese just like gary coz we are able to speak and sing multi languages. Thirdly, i personally do like his version of my way, i find it unique coz i havent heard any version being sang this way ( 2 voices )

Till this day, no Chinese (except Jane Zhang and Coco Lee) can sing at all. The Taiwan entertainment industry is a joke. Go listen to Sarah Geronimo of Phillipines, Siti Nurhaliza of Indonesia, and Hady Mirza of Singapore.
Sing with your diaphram, not nose or throat because it just sound awful. That is something the Chinese can never succeed in.

Second, just listen to Gary's alto part. He sounds like a child, weak voice, bad english. Vibrato is not the key thing in singing dumbo, it depends on the songs a singer sings.

I apologise for my harsh response, but people who heard Frank and Elvis would be infuriarated at Cao Ge's rendition. My Way carries a very strong meaning in its lyrics to many people, and I've seen a lot of singers not doing it well though it seems simple.
Quote from Michael Buble: "I refuse to sing this song, because I'm not capable of it."
It wouldn't be so ruined if Cao Ge had sung it all in one tone. While people were moved to tears when Frank sings, they'd be furious to hear Cao Ge's.

Never been a fan of Elvis, although I absolutely love Sinatra. I've always enjoyed listening to Sinatra sing My Way which is why I decided to watch Gary sing it. I believe Gary gives it a bit of an original edge. His unique voice lends a bit of creativity to a song that is already very good.
