sure! The original Japanese version was a serious (yet somewhat childish) horror anime. When ADV dubbed it in English, they replaced the script with a more tongue-and-cheek comedy one that the actors ad-libbed. The English ended up becoming way more popular than the Japanese, and even the original maker of the Japanese anime admitted that he loved the English remake :D
