  • Build a hydro power plant there!

  • Lovely video! I grew up in Tanzania, on the lake (see my video on youtube). I just came back to UK from a visit. What can I say..? Rampant bilharzia due to Nile Perch eating the snail-predators, mercurial poisoning of lake from illegal gold-miners, over-fishing, declining fish stocks, flourishing water hyacinth, growing population, grinding poverty, epidemic HIV levels...! The world seems to have a blind spot for this burgeoning catastrophe.

  • And another thing, weird to see you getting those catfishes, in Mali they only appear during rain sesaon (3 months) along with several other species. During the dry season I've only caught them in deep narrow gorges between rocky surroundings. Never in open water..

  • Looks amzing, me and my family been fishing these in Mali in West-Africa since 1990, in the Senegal river, but haven't got bigger then 22,5 kgs. Seems like you need to visit the bigger rivers or the lakes to get in touch with more of the the bigger ones.

Took my dad 7 years to discover that they were hiding under rocks during the day and often near water falls..or currents...but never IN the current, always resting under a huge rock.

Going to Zambia in february, any tips for fishing there?

  • caught a 35 kg on lake victoria when i was 11. the fish was heavier than me at the time.

  • liar

  • During height of Idi Amin's reign, people stopped eating fish from certain areas due to the human remains they were finding inside them.

  • yall know they get to 300 lbs dont u

  • heh, I went to that same place just further upstream.. my bro got a huge Nile perch..

  • 'thats is probably a tiger let me check my fly" haha! thx for another great video! thumbs up!

  • on lake nasser a nile perch 102lbs was caught! Has anyone here got anything close to that?

  • A 108 Kg (237lb) Nile Perch was caught at the falls by Marco Magyar in 2000, that kinda puts your 102lb fish in the shade! I don't know if it has been 'bettered' yet.

  • @012greenej I caught an 300 lb giant mekong catfish.

  • Whenever I ever make it back. Will do for sure!!!

    When did you go??

    Cheers!

  • 2001

  • I was on that boat back in 2000. Same driver too! Shane!!! WOW that brings back so many memories. I cant wait to visit again soon!!!! My brother and I didn't catch any nile perch, but the bait fish were big enough :)

All I can say is, its freaking crazy fishing between a few hippos and some crocs!!!

  • If you see Shane again please say a big hello from Alan and Johnny.

  • hey i hav a pen pal in uganda

  • it would of been funny if a croc bit ur hand off when u were releasing that fish!! good fishing man makes me wana start fly fishing

  • nicley done!

  • This was really fantastic, you really captured the beauty of Uganda. Professional and beautifully directed and recorded

  • wow great stuff.

  • Due to wildlife and treacherous terrain this place Murchison falls is one of the most hostile places to fish, sweating, clamping climbing and toiling is what's req to hook a fish here but catching them is another matter altogether. Recorded perch ever landed in Murchison is 103KG

  • Stay in one of the fabulous lodges a few kilometers downstream and take a boat ride. There are sandbanks everywhere which constantly shift: when the boat gets stuck you have to get into the water to push it off....with all those crocs and hippos that isn't fun!

The largest Nile perch caught at Murchison Falls was 108Kg by Marco Magyar.

This has to be one of the most spectacular and exciting places to fish on Earth and it was a privilege to be there.

  • very goo indeed good director & presenter

  • Watching video while on shores of Lake Albert, Uganda.

Me and mate Stevie landed 39.5lb Nile Perch last week.

    Great fight, great sport.

  • Well done! We spent ten days at Murchison Falls and only managed a 35 pounder! Bad luck for us!

  • Awesome! Would love to see more.

  • awesome video cool place when he said tiger i thought he meant one jumped in the water and bit his hook

  • Alan Hanna is one of the best presenters I have ever seen. How come we can only see him on Youtube?
