  • It is good to see your progress for an older student. I am a 50year old 3dan in TKD who is now tasked with keeping remaining Ballys TMA TKD and Hapkido students training and advancing now that our Master had to find employment elsewhere. Our Master got a job in Richmond Va. and we are in Baltimore Md. There is a kinship with your Dojang as Your Master came from the Ballys TMA program. What is your current Belt? Are you at Deputy rank? (or did your Master eliminate those intermediate steps)

  • @bnxsteve1213 thank you for your kind comments. YK Martial Arts, as you indicate, has ties to TMA as Master Yoon began there before opening his own school 5 years ago. There are now 4 branches with 4 Korean Masters as well as some American Assistant Masters (3rd Dan) developed over the years within the school. I am currently Deputy One in Hapkido, we have 4 deputy levels above the colored belts but before Black Belt in both TKD and HKD. My wife is BB in TKD and helps instruct children's classes.

  • @bnxsteve1213 when the local TMA branch closed down when Bally's was bought out, our school was able to welcome and absorb many of the TMA students. Most of the TMA students who joined our school were the more advanced level students who really wanted to continue their training. They are a very committed bunch and have been a great addition to the school.

  • damn! I guess I should work on my first degree black belt first before I try to tackle this! oh well, something to shoot for anyway!
