This video is pretty pathetic really, and stock Toyota truck and especially any FJ will go right through that like it's nothing. Pretty soon Jeep will need another bailout because they make the poorest rated vehicles, before too long Walmart will own Jeep and you'll be able to pick one up for $7999.
@seventhSabra Modern jeeps aside from the JK might as well be branded chryslers or dodges, as they have strayed from the Jeep way of basic, reliable, fun off roaders, and are now no more than over complicated mall-queens
@ptester123 They're already made in Mexico and they fall apart when you drive them. Just wait until they're made in China, they'll come free with the purchase of any LCD TC greater than 60"
Just when you though a Jeep P.O.S. couldn't get any crappier...
@seventhSabra lol the new ones suck yea... but i have a 4.0 in mine and i can guarantee its been thru more abuse than any daily driver you own... never had to fix it once.
@seventhSabra Nahh your right the chassis from toledo like the other almost 1 million YJs. Engine, didnt need to rebuild because i can still get another 150,000 miles out of it. Its okay though, i understand how frustrating it could be that at the end of the day a real Jeep is still the most loved off-roader out there
i myself own a tj. well what started out as a tj. what everyone argues about is a trashy version of offroading. what rednecks call muddin'....it really is not worth anyone's time. i would love to see a ford try to even get to the parking lot of moab or tellico...everyone is arguing their pickup can do better than a jeep offroad....why is it no one ever sees a crap ford on the lions back in moab?? BECAUSE FORDS SUCK. FULLSIZE TRUCKS SUCK. all of you care only about looks not capability.
very well said man, all those pickups in town(or city) drivin arond with those huge fucking tires and shit think there all good, lmao i call em all on with my stock xj, theve all got 8''inch 38'' tires and shit, iv got winter tires :) booya! i take em all on
depending if he has his floor plugs in. if they are, its too blurry to tell in this video but the water will only get in thru the doors... i wish i looked before i bought my YJ without the plugs lol... it gets cold expecially in the winter with ice floating around you and your sitting ankle deep trying to get out of the pudle!!!
@slapoutz That's actually not the ideal configuration for a 4x4, and that's definitely not what makes them the best for off-roading... Jeeps are rated in last place among SUV's/4x4s. The Jeep's wheelbase is actually too short which is why they're more than 1000% more likely to roll over than a Land Cruiser. You actually want a relatively sort wheelbase (in relation to most other trucks), but relatively long in relation to the vehicle itself. The FJ Cruiser has perhaps the ideal wheelbase.
@thunderjeep08 easily the most capable stock off road vehicle. hands down. thats how and why theyve remained nearly unchanged since the world wars. And i dont even like them, but one has to admit they are amazingly capable, if not totally impractical for daily life.
As a non tock jeep owner im just gonna say, wranglers can do alot but they arent the best at anything. People Get jeeps for 2 resons i think.
1. The bargain. i payed 23k for mine new and put ive done many mods since. a couple extra grand and you can have loads of fun. of courese you can do alot in a hummer, F-series, landrover, etc. but for the money jeeps are great. Plus, if you get it dirty inside who cares. If something breaks replace it w something better...
Very true, and you can get parts from ANYWHERE for them. and there one of the only vehicles where you can take the doors off, and the top off and cruise around in the summer!
I've done pretty crazy things with my stock jeep wrangler its an 87, and i have a few things on video that I did in my 40k commander that people with hummers and range rovers dare not try and do..
I thought my stock wrangler was NOT very good off road, of course I have a 4WD suzuki King quad with mud tires and locked axles front and rear to compare it to....NO COMPARISON...the jeep would get stuck any time it was in a ditch or off camber, the quad could do anywhere, and a lot further than MOST even mildly modified trucks or 4wds.
yeah jeeps rock. I am a new owner and my 4 cyl. w 31" rt'/s goodyears and 4:11 gears and roughcountry 2" lift will outclimb any hummer and prolly toyota or whatever else was mentioned...and it is a 4banger! lol
read the description...STOCK jeep...you wouldnt see a piece of shit stock H3 even get that far, also he said after the video ended it crawled out!! hell yea!
A fullsize truck or H1, H2, H3 would demolish that water hole. Jeeps are not good for offroad action. They only become good for offroad stuff once you throw thousands of dollars at them.
The #1 advantage (only real advantage) a Jeep has is it's extremely small size. They are underpowered, poorly built, weak axles, full-time hubs, shitty driveshaft design (slip yoke).
When you really think about it, a Samuri is the better vehicle for 4x4. It's small, lightweight and cheap. Since it is is useless stock, you must replace the entire drivetrain to have a good 4x4. The same with a Jeep. Except with the Samuri, you start off with alot less investment
Your exactly right...since the ford production of the "willys" used in such wars as the Korean war, and Vietnam, then bought and made into jeep, the 60 or so years hasn't in your terms "...made no if any progress to design stock jeeps with a substantial amount of off road capabilities..." wow, ur so true..
.so then i would like to see you take any new stock truck into a hole like that, but, heres the kicker, w/o a cell phone, so you can't call your other dumbass buddies with " der truks" to come pull your stupid ass out...i'm just sayinghe reported it cralled right out, my family owns a few jeeps (Including myself), and i knew he's right, because if been in similar situations but o no, your right...no capabilities...
I have a 2006 F-150 FX4 with 32" tires stock from the factory right now. With it leveled for $90.00, I can fit 35" tires with my OEM suspension. I can and have been been in holes with water up to my headlights. That's about 42" - 45" of water depending on where you measure.
You jeep fanatics are getting defensive over nothing. That "mud hole" is nothing. I guess over-exaggerating it to a girl is impressive, but anybody who has a real clue about off-roading knows that a stock jeep is crap
1. Willies contracted with Ford to produce the Willies Jeep. The Ford built ones had Ford on the tailgate and a few other odds/ends that were added.
2. Willies were first made by Willies, and then sold to Jeep. It was never a Ford product.
Wartime issues caused this.
And no, the Jeep of today can be distinguished from the past 30 yrs only by way it's axle is mounted. TJ=spring, YJ=leafs. Same tub, I6 got EFI, 304 gone V-6 motor now though
yeah, and what pansy ass is going to take his 35k Hummer a 2 or a 3 to that mud pit??? they cant take the kids to a soccer game looking like that!! LOL
Hey ive owned stock jeeps, honestly a stock H3 would probably go further in that mud hole, Dont be biased, as its only a matter of ground clearance, tire size and tread and if you have locked axles and can drive, no VEHICLE by itself is magic, its just what you have on the vehicle. Ive seen VW beetles do stuff jeeps got stuck doing, its all about tires, momentum, driver experience, and sometimes just LUCK.
The jeep made it out, it reversed easily through the water the video just stopped before the guy put it in gear, the guy recording probally had a camera phone. and don't underestimate any jeep they'll go through some hell while they're raising it.

how did a H3 get brought up?
look, really not trying to argue but you should take your blinders off and realize the stupidity of your comment.
That jeep has 29-31" tall tires. So 2.5" of water in that hole. It goes 1/2 way and bogs down.
Any stock 4x4 fullsize truck or even the H3 comes with 31" or bigger tires with better ground clearance.
