He is a communist. Anyone that wants to take away my right to bear arms is a communist and an enemy of the Republic.
"So its not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion"-Obama
Piss on the fairy tale religious nonsense, but you can bet I cling to my guns. They are the only damned thing that protects me from you uncultured savages (well, besides my enormous frame and rippling muscles).
The police just clean up crime scenes, they don't prevent them.
Hey I don't want to take away your guns so chill. Keep your guns it should be your right to own a gun and the government shouldn't have the right to take them away.
However what you don't seem to understand is politics, politicians enjoy using issues like abortion religion guns all that shit to secure their base even though they're not going to do anything about it. Its been done before and will again. Your gun is staying right where it is. He is far from either a communist or socialist.
Also, I hope you're not completely cynical with respect to Obama. Conservative politics has turned many of us into cynics ... which is what their politics has been all about since the Reagan years. Thomas Frank's book 'The Wrecking Crew: How Conservatives Rule' details the intentional government dysfunction (amongst other things) that has characterized their administrations. Frank has done his homework in his book. And he's an ex-College Republican to boot.
Read Thomas Frank if you have the time/inclination. It throws light onto what conservatives have done to government. They are all ABOUT cynicism --- and private profit at public expense. (Look at the profiteering that has gone on with respect to the Iraq War, for instance. Just one example of many.) In order to prove their thesis that goverment - in and of itself - is the problem, they make government INTENTIONALLY dysfunctional. Cynical? That's a textbook definition, Cad.
NeoCons aren't really conservatives, not fiscal conservatives anyway, though. A fiscal conservative wants a balanced budget and a small, non-intrusive government. GWB has given us the opposite of that.
The NeoCons are led by corporate lackeys and their religious drones are easily exploited by hot button topics like gay marriage and putting their hands together and staring at the ceiling while in school.
I'm more than aware of what is going on in Iraq, BTW. Really not happy about it.
"NeoCons aren't really conservatives ... A fiscal conservative wants a balanced budget and a small, non-intrusive government."
The small government idea is a ruse. I don't think government can or should solve all problems. However, I'd a like a government that FUNCTIONS; doing what it CAN do BETTER than the private sector. When a President places a man in charge of the EPA who has worked for anti-environment law firm, that's one government agency that is not doing what it should be doing.
Look, I'm a Libertarian that works for the government (VA). I know hypocrisy. I live it. My health care is paid for by the state. It works. Everybody should have it.
However, the governments are really poor at planning economies. See the history of the Soviet Union. See Cambodia.
"However, the governments are really poor at planning economies. See the history of the Soviet Union. See Cambodia."
The Soviet Union was glorious up until the time of Stalin. Stalin was a totalitarian. He jailed Communists. Cambodia? Pol Pot was a nutcase who filled the power vacuum created by American carpet bombings of eastern Cmabodia. (Sihanouk was carefully neutral.)
As for OUR ecomony, look what deregulation has wrought.
You and I are talking about different things, I think. Yes, with respect to the current economic situation, there is much blame on both parties. However, taking the longer historical view, I'll side with the party of FDR over the party of Reagan. For the past 30 years and beyond, Republicans have been the party most entrenched with big business. I will always side with the people who actually create the wealth on which the wealthy dine: The workers.
Peter Stuchka, Eugene Pashukanis, and Nikolai Krylenko, Lenin's ardent supporters, became the reformers of the Russian system of justice, and Eugene Shirvindt, a jurist and writer was eventually put in charge of the network of prisons. All of them were inspired by the same ideas as Lenin. The term "guilt" was deleted from the official vocabulary-society alone was was guilty when its members perpetrated crimes...
In the land of socialism there could be no prisons. Prisons were remnants of a capitalist civilization, monuments of barbarism and cruelty. So the very term "prison" was abolished, and the criminal codes mentioned only "places of detention."
Anarchy is untested. It's just like atheism. No Abrahamic religion would really accept it because of rational thought in a faith-based society.
Democracy, monarchy (both total and parliamentary), fascism, or communism. None dare let the Anarchist rule. But the Democrat is still open to their ideas.
Anarchy Im sorry to tell you has been tested. What do you think the Native American Indians had a parliment. That was collectivist anarchy. The best example of Anarchy working in practise in a modern setting was during the civil war in Spain. Technicaly it was an Individualist Anarchism and the country still managed to have a sembelence of order where there was little fighting.
Democracy is a shame. If voting changed things it would be banned.
Is there a collective will? Many minds speaking as one to accomplish a goal or series of goals. In the case of American Indians and all Naturalist Aboriginal populations, the goal was survival.
With respect to my point about government agencies and the appointees in charge of them, in the late 19th century many government agencies were created in order to DEFEND the public aagainst exploitation by private business interests.
Since Reagan what conservatives have done is to make government intentionally dysfucntional in order to privatize as much of it as they can. What's gone on has been a complete skewering of the term "public" and "private" interests.
Well, yeah, but... watching this, I was reminded of how most mainstream cartoons today are so politically correct that you'd never see sexiness portrayed with such frankness as it is in this toon.
Also, remember that these WW2 era cartoons played before movies and were intended for both adults and kids. They had to keep the interest of adults piqued too.
With cable television cartoons, they cater to specific age groups.
Well, Tom Jefferson said we needed a revolution every few years to scour the corruption out of the system. I understand that humans are hierarchical, but that does not mean we can't terrify the fuck out of the elite to keep them toeing a certain line of decency.
If Louis VIII had been a just and good king, the French Revolution would not have happened.
"but that does not mean we can't terrify the fuck out of the elite to keep them toeing a certain line of decency." LoL true & that may be the only real power we have, and as for revolution supose you kick out the corrupt elitist oligarchy what would you be replacing it with exept another elitist oligarchy? Exept now the guys in charge get to write the rule's all over again, you know what I mean man power corrupts & all that.
The elite just need to be kept in line, and kept a bit scared. They can have their yachts and mansions. I don't care about that material stuff as long as I have a roof over my head, food and beer to consume, and unlimited access to the world's information. Also, I will keep my guns.
The Internet scares the fuck out of them. It's not like TV where they just pump us full of bullshit through a one way tube. We can interact with each other with no filters.
I think the second amendment is just a great big safety blanket, no matter how many guns a farmer leaves lying around a flock of sheep they'll never try overthrow the farmer. Your spot on with the internet though it's our greatist defence against tyranny we'll ever have, we have to guard it at all cost's because what's the point of being armed if you don't know your enslaved?
Ah, but we are only sheep until there is no more grass. When people are broke and hungry, they will not be so easily manipulated. They will be extremely fucking pissed off, and the propaganda will no longer work. They won't be able to afford their Prozac in a Great Depression scenario, which is what we are sliding into. The Great American Economic Empire is collapsing. Bernanke is shitting bricks. Watch him on television. He's nervous and squirmy.
Well before we start running around the street's shooting at the army let's see how bad it get's first, you never know we might all get a miracle this year.
WHere'd you find this? I remember seeing this one when I was a kid. I can't remember if it came on after saturday morning cartoons or if they showed it to us at school. But I KNOW I've seen it before a very long time ago.
Internet Archives, my friend. It's all copyright free (expired) stuff that a nonprofit is saving for the sake of history. Check it out. I can PM a link if you can't find it through a Google search. There's a lot of good stuff there.
Well Capitalism is an "ism" also and its now strangling us through the corporations. The hay day of the indivdual entreprenuership have long since past. The Corporations working with and through the government no longer allows for it.
We are not living under capitalism now. This is a corporate kleptocracy heading global imperialism. Regulations hamper small business and entrepreneurship which in turn hamper innovation and production.
BS. Anyone can be a small business owner. Even you, Kaspar. You just have to expect less in terms of health care, pension, and job security. Just because you've made the decision that capitalism is too much work for too little pay by your standards, doesn't mean it's days have long since past.
My dad actually owns a small business (auto body shop). The government is constantly fucking with him through regulations regulations regarding rebuilt cars and environmental requirements, but he gets by.
If I wasn't a coward, I would be an entrepreneur too, but I like a steady paycheck.
Still, not many people object to the VA. The military, by definition, cannot be a capitalistic or democratic institution and the people that clean up the messes are best suited to be military folks.
All I know is the thousands of small mom and pop business that used to dominate most down town sections of the cites are all gone now. I think your telling me you can start a small business but it wont support you and your family. OK that may be so. In years gone by they did support a family. Most of the owner operated atomotive repair shops are gone. The little neighborhood grocery stores, The mom and pop drug stores, even Joe the plumber are very rare nowadays eaten up by corporations.
Ooh i like when they Americanize the history .. :)

The Republicans allowed banks to give out adjustable interest loans.

I talk to a lot of Anarchists online. I can't decide which would be worse (considering human nature)... Anarchism or Totalitarianism?
There must be a happy balance. I think our Constitution originally addressed the matter quite well, except for on several key issues such as slavery.
Now the President invades countries without a formal declaration of war from Congress. That's just one problem, mind you.
