I do pull ups with added 44 pounds with proper form but my lats aren't as wide as I would like them to be... Should I widen the grip and use less weight for wider lats?
@Garahan how much do you weigh, and that better be for 12+ reps.
Think of it this way, if you are light and skinny all you achieve by weighting your pullups is experience what big men have to deal with when doing bodyweight only. If you only do low reps and don't do both low and high reps you are wasting your time trying to build size.
@turdrhinofiend I weigh 183 lbs and I don't often do pull ups with 44lbs plate (i.e. i do only 7reps) I sometimes do it with 22lbs(10reps) , 11 (12-15 reps) or only bodyweight (15-18 reps)
PS: I do like a 11 week mass building program (i aim for 10-12 reps) which I divide it into 5 week program and a 6 week program after that i do a strength program 4 weeks (5-8 reps and finally i do a 6 week fullbody program 10 reps I hit each muscle group with 10 sec rest in between exercises with heavy weights not light weights like you see people do when doing full body.
@Garahan@Garahan I recommend doing either pyramid training reverse pyramid training (generally 3-4 worksets) for a 6 week phase (for your main exercise i.e. bench press and weighted chinups), you'll hit all rep ranges and you get strong really quickly, what I do for such phases are 4 day rotations of push/legs/pull/rest so I can train all parts twice every 8 days. (I can chin up with 40kg attached for 12 reps on my last set of Reverse pyramid training at a weight of 100kg)
@iamsuperabs22 Hey Dude! I also used the WeightLossAction.Info diet plans, to lose weight and it worked for me too! My friend whose also one of the happy customer suggested it to me.
Thanks for the video! It looks tough, but I've always wanted a more impressive v-shape. I'll stop at impressive, since for a slender guy like me you were bordering on intimidating at the time this was done!
The genetic differences between each individual makes it impossible to determine the success of a particular diet or workout. So it is justifiable to resort to different methods to achieve a particular goals, considering the individual is aware of the risk.

don't agree with the pausing stretch at bottom. . . it doesn't do anything for you. It takes the stress off your muscles and can strain them. Also gives you a second to rest. No reason at all to do that.
Pausing...NAW....I do them quick and fast so that others think I'd done a lot when in fact I did three pull ups. (but for real thanks for the tip on pausing I'm gonna definetly start pausing)
dude, wheres ur website, cant find the link, brilliant video, ive been doing alot of training lately to target the muscles which support in the pullup as im just to dam weak, thanks for the clarification of form,do you have an opinion on bent over rows while we're on the subject of back,i.e what angle ur back should be at
This guy looks like a mixture of John Cena and Mark Wahlberg in one body lmao. Other than that, great video...I'm definitely going to try this workout when I'm working on my back
@zombiekicker Agreed; pull ups are really hard.I started doing a few 2 build some strength 4 karate.I can do a set of 6 full range chin ups (underhand grip) but I've given up on overhand grip cos I get injured somewhere around around my elbow & it turns out other big guys at the club have the same problem (I'm 90kg btw). Any advice on making a more gradual start with overhand grip? It's so hard to "gain a foothold" with overhand grip if you weigh 90kg.
In physical fitness tests, your chin must be above the bar. Also, using momentum helps you gain a couple more reps.
However, slow controlled motion is best during training.
Also, pull ups are good for the upper back only. To train the mid-lower back, you have to do dead lifts and bend over barbell rows. Do all three exercises with good technique to get a well-balanced, developed back.
saying is so easy! doing it is so much harder! get of your bum and go try it! no matter what shape your in ! if your watching this to leave bad comments id hate to see what state your body is in....you will feel better after doing somthing exersise wize in your life...
my back is one of my stronger body parts because i hit it as hard as any other muscle group, i walk with great posture too before of it. making deadlifts and pull ups the core exercises of my back workouts had my back strong, and really given me that v taper look.... funny cuz i didnt even have a goal of getting a v taper, i just wanted to be able to do lots of pull ups and heavy deadlifts, but the v taper came, my point? TRAIN YOUR BACK PEOPLE.. and your legs too, often and hard, and EAT RIGHT
Chin ups are a great exercise for the back, can't live without them haha. Go from 140lbs to 180lbs in 6 months. Go to my channel for videos or a link to an article on the hardgainers guide to getting jacked.
