i really dont know why i want to help people? i guss it started when i was little and my mom was sick and i saw the fire dept help her and i new right then and there thats what i wanted to do..i wanna be the guy that runs into a burning building while everybody is running out...its not a job..not about the pay...its a special place in your heart that wants to help people...just saying
@JDEngine2 10 codes aren't supposed to be used anymore because IMS and incident commands want common wording used now. I'm a volly in Ocean County, NJ

@JMackin88 he was a volley in Middletown NJ for 3 years. He never finished his fire academy. He is a left wing loon that loves to skew the facts to meet his, and NBC's political agenda. Rare Gem? Hes about as valuable as a fresh diaper on the hottest day in July, only the diaper has less crap in it.

Anyway, at least in Ocean County, your a probationary member of your local fire department while your attending the fire academy, which is generally a six month span. once thats completed and passed FireFighter 1 training, your a firefighter. so there is no way that he would be a volunteer without completing the academy.
@atvrider7 orrr.... the fire company didnt press the issue for him. There are a lot of guys that take a few years, whether it be finding the time, or any other of a bunch of reasons. Hes a crackpot, plain and simple.
@BJohn182 Just after 9/11 Dateline NBC did serval episodes of this show with a few different fire departments to bring light not just to 9/11 but to the things firefighters do every day
