@pervy9111 If you listen closely the basic chords are in there but He's adding progressions and runs around before and after them. This is the reason it's called a solo. I'm pretty sure if he was playing this song with a group he wouldn't do all of what he did. Try singing or following the song with the lyrics and you'll probably hear it better.

If you're fixated on a particular version of a song, that's not bad when you're learning because you need something to build on. But, it's not the job of a musician to just reproduce what already exists every time or an iPod would be fine and no live music would need to happen. Master technique, and you gain fluidity of expression. Master a song, and you can state it clearly from your own perspective.

Wow. This just struck me as the most average, run-of-the-mill guitar-playing. What's everybody raving about? I mean, it's nice. Nothing wrong with it. It's pleasant. It's good. But anyone who has played guitar for more that 3 or 4 years should be able to noodle out elementary, uninspired licks like this with no problem. Quite ordinary. A little tedious and cliché. Kind of like the solidly average wannabes on American Idol who think that doing lots of "runs" qualifies them as professional.
