The reason it's so expensive is because they had to fit everything into a tiny package, which required more expensive soldered parts and a solid state hard drive. @geekrevo Macbook air has solid state (fast boots), better resolution, ultra portable, and its not made out of plastic. If all you want to do is use the internet and stuff like word and itunes then its perfect for people like me. I have one and its most convenient computer I've ever had, its nice not having to break my back lugging around my old hp laptop. Just wish they would add backlit keyboard to the air and i would have no complaints.

I've learned specs arent everything, evident from my old hp which had great specs at time, but the ribbon cable to screen broke, gpu failed, wireless adapter failed, hinge on one side broke, and etc. The Samsung 9 is sexy and has great specs, but it still has windows and im not sure on reliability. With Apple it just seems to work and thats what i want.

Compared to other net books this computer really shines in terms of form factor and performance. The price may be a con esp when compared with low end net books, but certainly not if you look at some comprable sony products. The high end graphics card and flash memory really make this a great performer. I use this exclusively for traveling and its so light that packing my computer is an after thought. If you dont like mac OS this is not for you.

@SReynolds94 1.4ghz might normally be very slow but because the Air has solid state memory, it compensates for the low CPU speed. i have the 11" Air and i can tell you that it's basically as fast as my 2.4ghz MBP.
