  • omg the pigeon is possesed with the devil.....

  • I always thought that such birds had a broken neck. Poor thing

  • Yes, it is possible that PMV could cause them to fall off the perch at night. Often a PMV pigeons will completely zonk out which could cause it to fall.

  • Do other symptoms include falling off of perches while sleeping. I had and he was almost 2 years old and every night he'd fall off the light on our back porch, he died several months after this started but I just want know what he had.

  • how did the PMV virus eliminate itself from this pigeon? Please explain the process of recovery. Btw...its a beautiful pigeon, thank you for feeding it :)

  • ♥ this one looks like cutey

    X3

  • is it saved now

  • poor bird :o(

  • attention to every one i live in pakistan where pigeons medician are not much available but i cure that and PMVC1(not sure about spelling) just feed them by hand(open theirs beak and feed them) and give them cod lver oil them

  • I think this is the most important video I have seen from you. I go to a park kind of often to feed the pigeons. They jump into my legs where I usually feed them. 2 questions:

1- Is that virus contagious to humans?

2- How they get that virus?

I saw 2 in that park and 1 in another place that act like that, I thought they were playing with me or having fun.

  • The virus isn't contagious to humans although it can cause mild conjunctivitis

  • found a pigeon in my yard with this diease i thought it was blind showed these systoms i hope it doesnt die if its still there in the morning what do i do??? its not a young bird its an adult. can they fly? i hope its gonna be ok cause i cant see this poor thing suffer.

  • I saved a isolated bird from crows at my office terrace it is having same disease the pigeon rotates and is also not eating anything can anyone tell me how can i save its life.

  • what happened to the bird i assume it died as there is no cure for pmv and did anymore catch this diease i hope you put your loft on lock down as this can be passed on by a carrier and infection someone else birds

  • The bird is still in the aviary, very much alive although it still has the nervous symptoms.

  • Oh no, poor thing!

Do you know how resistant the paramyxoviruses are? I lost my two budgerigars in july, the hen showed clear symptoms of PMV and died finally because of the infection.

Now i don't really know how to "kill" the viruses without trowhing away the cage and all accessories... I already put the accessories in oven, washed it (also the cage) with hot water and disinfectant for H5N1 and flu.

  • The strain of PMV that affects budgies isn't the same one that affects pigeons.

As I mentioned before I have had 25+ PMV survivors, I kept them in isolation for more than 8 weeks and disinfected the cages, but over 10 years I have not had a single case of a healthy bird contracting PMV from one of the survivors or from the cages they used (which were disinfected after use. The pigeon in the video is still with us.

  • I found a pigeon on the street one day. It had one of the neurological viruses with similar symptoms, only it would constantly put its head upside down. It also was slightly injured under one wing. It was able to feed itself, so I kept it and fed it and took care of it. It gradually got better, but it took many months, and eventually it showed no symptoms at all, and I released it... after two years! I didn't have any other birds, but if I had I would have had to isolate it.

  • Well done!

  • Common Bird Virus. My flock was infected last winter. Only one bird died. Good seed and LOTS of water during the 2 weeks of sickness. Fed them twice a day because of hard time eating. All birds fine now! Good video! Thanks for posting!

  • Good advice and thank you. Pigeons shed the virus for 6 weeks, so for that period they need to be kept isolated from unvaccinated pigeons. I keep them isolated for a bit longer.

  • should have just killed it and vaccinated the rest of your loft...scrubbed it with bleach too!

  • GO TO HELL, DONT BE CRUEL OK!

  • If you don't care about one bird, why would you care about a flock of birds? They are individuals, and it's shameful to just discard them like so much trash just because they get sick.

  • LOL I assume you guys have never had a bird, or dealt with PMV before...it's nasty and if you don't catch it early you could lose all of your birds instead of just one. In order to have the best birds you need to constantly look for reasons to get rid of birds...sickness is a sure sign. Also flying patterns, shape of the head, beak, and later; color.

  • YOU seem nasty, and it's too bad someone didn't "catch you early". i wonder what shape your head is....hmmmmm? must be flat with a bulging forhead, and that's why you act like a primative.....your prolly nothing more than a vicious animal cloiterist. hope you get sick and die. cheers!

  • thanks doof! take care as well! if you have birds i'm sure they're all dead by now anyway...if not then shut the hell up bcuz you don't know what you're talking about! "cheers" bastard.

  • "if not than shut the hell up" i'm not the one petting my ego trying to tell people what to do, buddy ... why don't you take your primative, sloping, caveman forehead to school and try to get some credentials in avian disease, health, and CARE, and then maybe someone will WANT to read what you think in your misshapen head. i can tell right now YOUR not the BEST BIRD. lets hope your not breeding! BAH HA HA HA HA!

  • actually i have a BA in environmental health and control and a masters in avian medicine. What education do you have?! "Bah hahaha" I would hope you're not breeding either but I don't think you know how! good luck pal!

  • one of my pigeon in the winter time had this problem but a month later he was back to normal

  • hey!!! this poor bird just wanna take a bath.got it?

  • shut up mother f++ker

  • Might just have an itchy neck ?

  • This is cause a virus and have noway to treat but let the pigeon be healthy and let its anti bodies overcome the virus.. anyway, sometimes if the brain will be severely damage it will be like this for life.

  • THat is true

  • The person who said that every Pigeon should get that disease is a real moron. I'd hate for yet another species to go extinct. They don't bother us much, it's not like they're a virus or a harmful bacteria (By the way most bacteria are beneficial, keep that in mind). Anyway I hope royalscotspiper learns to appreciate these birds one day the way I do.

  • Ohh , i feel sorry for that pigeon...if i was whoever is filming this vid i would take this pigeon to a pet docter

  • omg thats sooo sad

  • what a hell are you talking about

may this disease came to you

  • This will not kill the bird hand feed it for a month or 2 and give it plenty of vitamins it will be good as gold trust me i've done it.

  • il es malade le malade il sapéle bou3anaze a larab :d

  • horible disease can they be saved when they get this bad???

  • Yes, they can be saved.

  • i have roller im 16 lol

  • i race pigeons and im only 12 lol

  • Poor bird. :C

  • I had a bird that came down with Paratyphoid & that's the exact same symptoms he had. Unfortunately, it was too far gone to be treated & the bird didn't make it. Make sure you disinfect your entire loft afterwards, because it's spreadable through inhaling the "fumes" of the droppings. I would also recommend using Baytril for your other birds to prevent any outbreak/infection if exposed.

    Good luck!!

  • that is really sad

  • you can give him b6 vitamin

  • Adorable.

  • now is he better?

  • that roller is mast up, should vaccinate the birds or the rest will catch it.

  • He became ill months ago and they stop shedding the virus 6 weeks after becoming ill, so he is no danger to other birds. The main danger would be that he could drown, so I spray him instead of offering a bath.

  • maybe u r not gonna believe me but trust me.give him garlic everyday he shoud be fine in month.I used to feed piegons for 20 years.I know everything about them

  • I'm curious do you vaccinate your birds?

  • Yes, but this one wasn't mine when he caught the disease...nor were the others.

  • Just so you'll know I've raised Pigeons for about 10yrs.( Homers ).. In all that time I've never seen a bird come back to it's original health . I could be wrong but when there sick with that virus there done!! just my opinion for what's it's worth

  • I have nursed 10 back to health and they are still well 6 years later...but I don't keep them to compete in any way, I just keep them because I love them so they are never "done" as far as I am concerned while they have quality of life.

  • Thats good to hear; If you need any advice this forum is one of the best ones there.

  • did he get beter?

  • He is not better yet, but he is in a safe environment receiving supportive care and with another pigeon for company. He is courting her at the moment.

  • poor guy..
