One of the menus on the DVD is just a loop of the newsdancer, it goes on for about 5 minutes! - I love the juxtaposition of ludicrous dancing with his ultraserious expression
I think it's to highlight the use of music behind these montages.
It starts off as a normal news-ish music loop - but gradually throws in funkier chords every so often, and then eventually it's completely funky even in the rhythms (and hammond organ!) I didn't notice until the very end that the music had changed the first time I saw this (and I should know because I play music for a living).
Newsdancer may well be a piss-take of the guy who does sign language in the corner.
i was wondering about this today... it looked to me as if the Day Today was rickrolled....
