Easy, Landon Donovan IS the BEST American player, but the fact that he's the best at the age of 26 with a minimum buy out price of 12 Million means, that though he's good he won't resell for more becuase he probably has just 5 years left in him and 2 of those years of peak playing time. Clubs look for young players that don't have to be as good as him but evenrually will, THUS a higher resale value. Donovan probably will never be bought out but loaned out.
