This exercise is good for power for functional movements in martial arts but it's just highly more susceptible to rotor cuff injuries due to it's instability of motions. If i prescribed this exercise to clients that's skinnier or similar build to you, then at 0:19 they would fling into the machine.
@QuangSpeedosVu Agreed, their's better fitted machines for this exercise though I must say aside from Martial arts there would be no other reason aside from the very passion of why they should do this exercise.
I gotta agree with the people talking about the broken gym equipment and poor form. The fast negative phase into a sudden stop at nearly full extension is a really good way of ripping your pectoral right off the humerus. You'd be better off training with braided thero-tubing or heavy chains for progressive resistance.
Slow down on your negatives, man. It'll double the effectiveness of each rep in your set.

Do what you have to do. Keep doing this and don't let anyone stop you. I saw at the end you sorta flew up, thats really good. Keeping lightweight is excellent for jumping, freerunning and all sorts.
@ChaseTheSun69 Most definatley bro. If you want to go heavy with squats, stick to the leg press machine, and still with strict posture. Deep squats with heavy weight can damage your knees if you do not know how to position them, but thats not what I'm worried about. Its your lower back that will be getting most punishment. My advice never go deep squats unless your doing body weight squats. Keep your thighs parellel on squats, if you want to go heavy stick to leg press. -BrandonT
@BrandonTboxer10 .....to what your body is conditoned too....if you never been conditioned to that and ur back is weak then maybe no.....i've done deep squats forever.....not sure if 140kg rep of 4 is classified as heavy for a 70kg fella......no belt or knee wraps either.......i'm 32 and my body is much better condition now than ever.....but do what feels good for you...meaning it shouldn't be painful or hurt in anyway......keep up the training mate!

I currently wieght in at 132 for boxing purpouses and my squat weight is 225lbs, and good form aswell. Legs parralell to the floor. :)
At the end the pull of that cable weight almost throw you right into the machine and you could of fuck all your shit up, thats why Form is important for safety and this isn't safe
I'm no professional, it looks like a good exercise that covers a lot of muscles but be careful, it doesn't seem good for your shoulder joint (unless you control the weight 100% and it has no power over you)
Every time I try working my chest it hurts like fuk for a week then spreads to my back and neck even when doing low impact, is this normal to anyone else?
