  • I was 7 when this came out always loved it as I do today BG

  • FAKES

  • This group are imposters and shouldn't claim to have sung these songs as Originals in 1962 ~ None of these members are Originals. There are three originals still living and doing very well, John Salvato, Tom Biagalow, and Mike Kelly...This group is using the name Duprees illegally and dishonestly...Not to mention that they can't come close to the Original sound...even if you "close your eyes".

  • @Rinaldi1947 My mistake. I thought Tommy Bialoglow and Johm Salvato were the only ones left. I didn't know there was a third. The poster of this video is missing our point. Yes, it's a beautiful song! But people watching it need to know it's NOT them! The "Truth in Music Act" makes it unlawful to advertise or conduct a live musical performance through the use of a false, deceptive or misleading affiliation. There must be at least, "One original member included in the group."

  • What a shame! All you people should know that NONE of the men you are seeing in this video are the original members of The Duprees.

  • @rmas32 Wanna know the real shame? The fact that people complain about this not being the originals when the originals are so much older and not getting around very well or passed on. This is more of a TRIBUTE band that reproduces that great sounds of a time long gone. And they do it so well... Close your eyes and enjoy...

  • @munacra Actually there are two "Original" Duprees still alive and well. One of them, Thomas Bialoglow, still sings all the time. He "gets around" very well in fact. So to reiterate: It's a SHAME that people watch imposters sing and claim to be the Duprees. Jon Bauman "Bowzer" campaigns for laws to be passed preventing bands from stealing the good names of "original" bands. "Close your eyes" all you want.

  • Wow, speechless. Such voices, still!!!! Pure class, the best, I LOVE IT!

  • What can you say? The best

  • How can anyone not like this. This is purely beautiful.

  • Y You go guys, just so fantastic.

  • I wish the volume were louder, sigh.

  • I could't agree more, the Duprees are the classiest Doo Wop Group around and having met them several times, even going up on stage, I have to say, you just don't get any better than this talented group of men, way to go Tommy, Jimmy, Phil and Tony, love ya, Carol from Turtle Creek

  • Amazing

  • makes me homesick of philly

  • This music will never die. I love it

  • what is the name of that music at the beggining ? please tell

  • I love oldies.

  • Do you realize that NO ONE writes love songs anymore? Young people today missed out on something very special.........

  • @robbo1400 so very true!

  • @robbo1400 Yes! Now it's about finding and losing love... =/

  • i dont see any originals???????

  • Hi all, I'm hoping someone can help me.... Does anyone know the name of the singer in this video? Thank you in advance for any help! :-)

  • @mycell33 The singer is Tommy Petillo and at one time he sang lead with a group called Parkway. They recorded a song for me entitled:"Maybe next Christmas".

  • @mycell33 Tommy Petillo, Jimmy Spinelli, Phil Granito, and Tony Testa

  • 00:38 *Stands up and claps* this is real music. came from the bottom of their hearts, was about love not sex or drugs it did not make kids deaf and was not annoying

  • Now this is PURE CLASSIC. Unlike today's music with the same genre.

  • You're right MrAlbalola, nowadays its Pure...... Junk and garbage!

  • not the duprees without joey vann ...

  • This definitely was a good old good one!

  • 2 words to descibe todays music....GARBAGE!!!!

  • damn they sound great!

  • Beautiful song from those wonderful years growing up, when our country was so much better, simpler times

  • @brownindian17

    couldn't agree more

  • pure class, better than the garbage nowadays

  • @MrAlbalola DITTO

  • @MrAlbalola 11 idiots are deaf!

  • pure class

  • THAT WAS A GREAT TIME IN OUR LIVES love the oldies. Herman Rivera

  • Joey Canzano, then Mike Kelly are the ones who sang this the best.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!

SO_SO MANY MEMORIES COMES TO THE MIND!

    PURE GOLD!!

  • Ahhh...such nostalgia..I love it!! One of my favorites of all time..There's nothing like this in todays music..

  • We (The Modds) Opened a show for The Duprees at the Columbia Records Convention at the Americana Hotel on Miami Beach-July 16, 1965. Columbia gave out a free LP demo-"This is Where It's At!". of the several groups that performed there which included The Duprees' "Around The corner" and "They Said It Couldn't be Done". I loved this group long before I became a musician!

  • I 'm a Jersey Girl...from the same neighborhood...the original Duprees were sensational and I am delighted their legacy is living on through these great voices...I remember Tommy when he was pre Duprees...he was great than and great now!!!

  • @KELLERSCOWBOYS This is great music no matter what anyone else may say. If they are not all the originals, that's just fine with me because the sound is fantastic!!! :)

  • @munacra

They do sound good but not caring if they're originals is just the problem. People not caring is why fake groups are running around taking gigs away from the original artists.. They figure fans don't care as long as the song sounds good.

  • @behdoc Your right my friend ! sad but true . I promote and produce original 50s 60s r/r staged events . People hear a name and dont really care who they see ,untill you tell them "they been dooped" ! Then they care ,because the $ then comes out of their pockets , and the shoes on the other foot !

Keep on supporting the original groups ,they wont be with us too much longer .enjoy their original sound !! Thank you from all of them them , and yes , they do enjoy the support , ONLY 1 LEFT

  • @munacra It's NOT fine. They are ripping off the original members. It's a disgrace to them and to their memories. Nobody is disputing that it's a beautiful song. But you are justifying these groups. That's wrong.

  • @KELLERSCOWBOYS Absolutely love it! The best music ever recorded. LONG live the DuPrees and thank you for a timeless classic that will live forever!

  • They still sound great!

  • FANTASTIC PUR CLASS

  • Written with a WWII Soldier in mind, it fits perfectly!

  • I agree, these guys are the best and class is the best word to describe them, other than pure talented gentlemen. carol from Turtle Creek

  • These guys try, but Joey Vann (Canzano) then Mike Reilly are the only ones. The rest should get a day job. Just respect the true singers.

  • Maybe not the oringinal lead singer but Tommy is a great addition to a classic doo-wop

  • This is music, not noise making like today's so called Music.

  • Ten people don't belong to him.

  • JUST PURE CLASS!

  • @mrgimble2 Ain't that the truth!!!

  • @mrgimble2 Fantastic

  • These guys are too good, still, and they still have that smooth and cool movement and sound. I saw the original Duprees( I think) in 1970 at a niteclub called the Sugar Shack in Delaware.

  • Brings back so many memories. I love it.

  • These guys are good, real good, and the lead singer is great, you go guys.

  • Can't we just enjoy the music and stop bickering over the original members? So few doo wop groups have any surviving original members anymore, it's nice that others are stepping up to preserve the music. Besides - did the Yankees stop being the Yankees when Maris and Mantel retired? No! Did the Temptations stop being the Temptations when David Ruffin left? No!

  • My favorite of all-time!

    Well one of them!!!!

It's at the top of my list

  • My favorite of all-time!

    Well one of them!!!!

  • What stage-presence! What great back-up singers!Voices the same as yesterday as today! Just great!

  • Happy Valentine's Day!

  • You belong to me, perfect notes, the lead singer and the back up also....What a wonderful song. Sounds like yesterday, same as yesterday, 40 years ago. WOW. This was one of my favorite songs when I was kid, even though I'm not that much younger than the singers. Love it!!!!!!!!

  • This Video proves that if you have talent ? You never lose it. Great Song and i so miss those wonderful and innocent days .

  • RETARDS WITH RAYGUNS some horror doo wop subscribe

  • DOO WOP FOREVER!!!!!!!!! Thumbs up to the Duprees.

  • The Slickville Cappella Street Corner sang this song many nights in front of Mike's and Damico's

  • they are the best catch them at oldies shows when i can

  • It still gives the feeling..........thanks!

  • This is the sound I grew up to it was awesome thanks for posting these great oldies

  • Yeah no affence but what happened to the respectful teenage boys from back then? I was born in the 90's but from what my gram says from when she was a teen the boys were respectful. Now they're well not. This is my kind of music too cause of my gram :) it's actually pretty good if you give it a chance but now there's rap and other stuff. THESE songs are the goodes NOT rap and stuff. Sure I like other music but this is pretty good to dance to.

  • @sweetypie32100

Your Gram sounds like an awesome lady! :) I applaud you for giving other types of music a chance, unlike my son (also born in the 90's) who happens to be very close minded when it comes to music.

As far as respect goes, so much has changed over the years. Society as a whole has allowed so many to get by with things that weren't tolerated back in the day. The old saying "give an inch, they'll take a mile" is so true, especially over time. Modesty, respect & honesty is scarce

  • Street Corner Doo Wop .... Under the EL in my home town ... Thank you ...

  • god music

  • OK, everyone I saw the Duprees last Thursday night in Greensburg PA. A truly fabulous show, such wonderful talented men, they are keeping the doo wop music alive and would everyone please quit knocking them. They stayed and met all of us fans after the show, how many groups today would do this? They sound just as good as the originals. Way to go, Tommy, Phil, Jimmy and especially Tony. Love, Carol from Turtle Creek

  • OKAY, EVERYONE, I JUST SAW THE DUPREES LAST THURSDAY LIVE IN GREENSBURG, PA, A FABULOUS, FABULOUS SHOW, THEY ARE THE KINDEST GROUP OF MEN ON THIS PLANET AND THEIR TALENT IS UNSURPASSED. THEY ARE KEEPING THE DOO WOP MUSIC ALIVE SO WOULD EVERYONE QUIT KNOCKING THEM. THEY SOUND JUST AS GOOD AS THE ORGINALS AND THEY PUT ON SUCH A WONDERFUL SHOW. AFTERWARDS THEY STAYED AND MET ALL THEIR FANS. WAY TO GO, TOMMY, JIMMY, PHIL AND ESPECIALLY TONY, LOVE, CAROL FROM TURTLE CREEK

  • cant be the real guys i was there

  • you can not beat the originals-i know i saw them

  • This is great!!!!

  • I don't know how many of the originals are in this video but I do know the lead singer is original and hasn't lost a thing. They sound like they did by in the sixties. Simply great music.

  • The way Rosato does it is the way!!!

  • the way Rosato does it is the way!!!

  • Who is the original member of the Duprees singing here...or is this just another name scam...

  • I saw this group at the BIG E.....so so so good......

  • i absolutely ADORE this song, this is the way it should be done!

  • This guy is good, no problem! But why does he call himself The DuPrees? If you're good, call yourself by your name, don't be a phony! Joey Vann (Canzano) is rolling over in his grave!

  • @peteykkk They do it to make money off the originals names. It's a problem with this music a lot of imposter singers take names and profit off it.

  • OK, even if they are not the complete original group, you gotta agree that they perform the Duprees songs as well as the original recordings. They do "keep the music alive", so I'll applaud them any day. They're great!

  • Lets face, it this is a terrific song!

  • hi boomer, I lived off of wilkins township, belong to st colman's , remember mary's dairy, dariy delite, ceasars bar.

  • Love the Duprees, the best place to see them AMT in Lancaster PA...

  • when people could really sing...

  • im in to death metal, horrorcore, hip hop, metal..i listen to everything and this shit sounds good.

  • Actually this was one of the k

Last performances with the Founder of the Duprees. He died not long after this. His name was Mike and he was second from the right (forgot his last name)

  • @fabal2

The first lead was Joey Vann (Canzano). After he died, Mike Kelly took the lead,.

Then lots of phonies came along trying to cash in.

  • @peteykkk Yes I know about Joey Vann, but not much in between. the gentleman I was referring to was Mike Arnone-the last founding member who passed a few years ago. I started following them after the 1980's when Richie Rosato was singing lead.. Of course no one can replace Joey Vann--he had a unique voice, but this group does the music justice--I have seen them quite a few times and enjoy each show----thank God somebody is out there keeping this great music alive

  • @peteykkk My friend your 110% correct , and all of the Duprees today are bogus cashing in on the $ of the originals Mike Kelly is still around and deserves his just rewards from the royalties along with the right to use the name Duprees Get the phonies off the stage and get the only remaining member of the Duprees back on stage where he belongs. Mike Kelly AMEN

  • This group has no original members and yet it masquerades as the Duprees. They have managed to hijack the trademark so that the two surviving original Duprees cannot perform as the Duprees. Overall, they do sound a lot like the original except that they have altered the back-ground vocals (there were no sha la la's in the original recording of "You Belong to Me). They should, however, stop misrepresenting themselves as the real thing and be honest about being a tribute band.

  • @flbadcatowner Finally !!! People , a guy who knows whats going on in the business thank you .! Your right they are all phonies I promote , and produce "original" R/R staged events , and know em all ! and friends with so many of them Its sad that this happens , but someday Mike Kelly will have the trademark back in the court system watch ! Check out the truth in music law , its on the web its our Bible to help all the groups out there getting ripped off , sad , but it still happens

  • Originals or not - In a couple of decades we can be grateful for everyone who is keeping these great tunes alive

  • Everything a male singer should be. This is fabulous.

  • this is a great sound. very genuine and beautiful.. these guys can do this in their 60's..they are truly blessed

  • All I can say is brring back Richie Rosato, he puts this lead singer to shame.

  • I love this song. The best part is, I lived it from the beginning, when this song was first released. What memories this song brings back.

  • I love this song sooooo much. They don't make music like this anymore....

  • For a bunch of imposters, they do a nice job. But nothing like the DuPrees!

  • @munacra

Thank you for true Doo Wop from 50s! Really lovely music.

  • THIS IS THE BEST!!!

  • they are the originals

  • These four just performed at Keswick outside Philly. Introduced the EXODUS

song (This land is mine....) as if it were their original and current intent to sing

a patriotic American song...never mentioned the title, Exodus, nor the movie,

nor the author, nor the real intent of the song as written. We love our country

and support our brave soldiers, but it seemed like such a stretch to present it

as they did...let's keep it real guys!!!

  • @pamindoc

i couldn't agree more, I bought their CD "The Duprees Go to The Movies" just for the song Exodus, very , very moving rendition. They are great.

  • @dupreesfan223 : What I was saying is that these guys should not distort

the meaning of the song by their introduction; either they should simply sing

    it or accurately introduce it.

  • @pamindoc

what do you mean? This song can have many meanings for people, how do you think they distort the meaning?

  • These guys are fantastic. I saw them in person in January 2010 in Ocala, Fl. and it was wonderful. I became a teenager all over again. They can still sing like I remember the songs. Go Duprees! Rosie of Florida I love you

  • No group is the same as the original members but this lineup is excellent. Tommy has a beautiful voive on these classic songs

  • Love this group, keep it going by going to the shows of doo wop. This is slow dance , when your holding your girl and wisper in her hear

You belong to me , it was the best time of my life at the clubs.

  • doo wops now those were the days and that was the music

  • They still sound great!

  • I think they are just great!! He sounds as good as the original!

  • Tommy sounds just great to me rock on Tommy

  • Will get to see them in N.J. in Sept. Counting the days. Music like this is what makes the Baby Boomers so great.

  • They sound as great as ever. You never can bring back the original members of any group. I think Tommy is excellent.

  • how hard is it to be nice? Tommy can sing wonderful and this group is the nicest group of men you will ever meet. Go Tommy, Carol from Turtle Creek

  • @dupreesfan223 You mean Turtle Creek, Pa like in Chuckie Blasko & The Vogues?

    God Bless!

  • @boomer1402

Yes, Turtle Creek, PA, home of the Vogues. My brother and Chuck Blasko went to school together and were good friends, he still asks about him, I am Turtle Creek PA, born and raised, Go Vogues!!!

  • @dupreesfan223 My grandparents lived on Tongalucas St off Brown Avenue near Sunset Lanes. My Uncle Jerry also knew Chuckie and the boys. Pappy's, the Boosters, E. Pgh Moose, Mary's Dairy, Palmieri's, St. Coleman's, etc....I know TC pretty well although I grew up in Wilkins Twp

  • @dupreesfan223 Turtle Creek PA is where my mother was born. ventroyale@aol.com

  • @dupreesfan223 BOGUS DUPREES CANT HOLD A CANDLE TO THE ORIGINAL ONES TOMMY WHO ????? JOHNNY COME LATELY !! WHERE DID THE YEARS GO ?? THEY WERE NOT EVEN AROUND IN 62 IT WAS THE ORIGINAL DUPREES REALLY SAD THESE BOGUS GUYS STEAL THE $ RIGHT OUT OF THE POCKETS OF THE ORIGINALS AND THEIR FAMILIES SAD READ ALL ABOUT IT ON THE WEB THE TRUTH IN MUSIC LAW

  • @mrconcertman

The Duprees are not the only ones singing with the original name. Almost all of the original doo wop group members are either dead or have moved on, if it is against the law, then why do so many groups do this? Johnny Maestro of the Crest and Brooklyn Bridge just passed away this year, and they have already replaced him. It can't be too illegal if all the groups do this. Just enjoy the music and be happy these people still want to keep doo wop alive.

  • let's be nice, these guys are the nicest doo wop group you will ever meet, and Tommy sounds wondeful, I would see them every weekend if I could. Go duprees, Carol from Turtle Creek

  • Im not sure why there is so much animosity towards this group which is to say I not aware of the history that must exist for such strong feelings to exist. That being said, I think these guys sound great! I love the sound.

  • The animosity is there becuase none of these guys are actually the Duprees. Basically, they stole the name and attempted to profit off of it (to that order I guess they are successful). Sure, he can sing, but he's just another singer -- it isn't an orginal. Find the link to the original Dupress recording, and you will understand. Thnk of an antique car show, and you see a '37 Plymouth, then you realize it has disc brakes, a CD player, and a Chevy 350 . . .I would rather see the original.

  • @Me112233 i hear that brother

  • @Me112233 Everyone would prefer the original groups but that just cant be. Originals or not, these guys are excellent. The point is to enjoy the music regardless of who sings it.

  • @Me112233 , it doesn't matter that none of these men are the originals, half of the so called Doo Wop group members everyone are no longer living and these groups choose to keep the doo wop music alive and they did not steal the name, they had to have permission from whomever created the groups to do this. Right now there are two groups claiming to be the original Vogues from Turtle Creek PA, what matters is that they still entertain us.

  • Just plain Fantastic!

  • Mike Kelly where are you when we need ya man? This is not good.

  • Saw them numerous times recently. The short guy (Tony?) actually sat on my lap, and I kissed his ear....or hearing aide, that is. LOL

  • The lead singer isn't singing lead.

  • still my faviorit of all ..

  • Im 23 but for as far as I can remember Oldies have been my type of music some people say I have an old heart but I just know great music when I hear it. I even teach my 3 year old of oldies love love love them i just wish more youth would enjoy it more.

  • Beautiful, beautiful song. Remember American Bandstand - every day after school - running home to see it - and of course doing my homework to it. Miss those innocent days, and doo wop!

  • @stillleenie18 Me too!! Wow!! Wonderful memories...man I miss those days!

  • Love the oldies...Thank you for posting such a great song and thank you for the memories.

  • Frauds... to pose as the real guys when the Mike and I think John are trying to get back what is rightfully theirs ... their NAME!

  • ole fat Tommy cant carry a tune !! give it up tubby and how about quit calling yourselves something your not !! and a Dupree is what you guys arent . i SEE THERE REALLY CAREFUL NOT TO SAY THEY SANG THIS SONG IN THE 60S Its a shame they let guys like this go out when in fact the original Mike Kelly cant !! Sad hope all works out for Mike Kelly Also check out the truth in music law on the web . It tell the whole story of the knock off groups and how you can fight them I promote50s 60s r/r events

  • your not the real duprees

  • Great song, greatr group. At 65 I was there when the original song000s were recorded, but they are good.

  • bad song love it

  • Happy birthday Tommy Petillo (we both have the same one Nov. 8) Any chance the Duprees could do a show a little more south? You have some fans down here in Virginia who don't like to travel. God bless.

  • Such a great song. Gonna be my wedding song someday.

  • Isn't it, though? My mom is getting married in 2 weeks, she's 83 and this song is among the many I put together for them to play at the reception. It will be all oldies from 40's and 50's....romantic ones of course!

  • Only Joey Canzano and Mike Kelly can really get this song going. One of my all time favorites! I think think this guys name is Petrillo! He tries-----

  • I was four years old when this song came out ...and I love LOVE it. I was born twenty years too late!

  • Love it.........

Paul Anka - You are my destiny is outstanding live also..

  • Comment removed

  • @peteykkk

So why FUCKIN tell me this? Keep it to yourself....

  • I love these guys! They do wonderful justice to the originals. See them live if you can.

  • Wonderful!!!! They still "got it" in my eyes. Great vocals, great performance!!!!!! Go get em gentelmen. Marc Trainor.

  • still sounds great to me. When music really had meaning to it. Good job.

  • It should ALWAYS be about the music. Unfortunately there was a better mix in this group a few years back. The lead singer just does not sing in the same key and the sound doesn't touch my heart. Sorry but I gotta call it as I see it.

  • These guys are good, but they are NOT the originals - they pale by comparison to the original group!

  • Ther're great period.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • does not matter they still sound good

  • although these are not the original Duprees, I think they do a nice job with some timeless beautiful music... and I love the way they dance... NICE!

sha la la la... sha la la la...

  • is it me or does time seem to go back

  • nothing compares to the originals, young or old!

  • I've seen this group many times and they are great performance and presence what was, was! these guys are great.

  • Dupree frauds, Dupree wanabees, they sing well, but don't come close to the originals. Bring back Richie Rosato, then maybe, just maybe you'll sound alot closer to the original, and unmatched Duprees.

  • I ve worked with Both groups

These guys do a great job

but I understand what you are saying

Ive always thought it was about the music

Ive sung with The Salutations, The Mystics

    etc etc

    Both had 2 groups

and Harmony Street one and only
