Fuck, this sounds like Jason Segel singing his Dracula song. This is one of my favourite songs, but this version only gets respect for being the original...it's nothing compared to Nina Simone's or Muse's.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Muse sucks. Their version has no soul, no feeling. This is a song about discovering and experiencing freedom, having an epiphany. Muse is just noise, masogenisticly playing with his voice and overpowering the melody. Gross. Even Michael Buble' gets it. MUSE SUCKS!
@ShadowcasterZero I really hate when people haven't got a clue what they're talking about. Matt Bellamy is one of the last few remaining, truly talented artists. Don't form generalised opinions just because you didn't like one cover version. Seeing Matt live, playing a piano is what I can only imagine, like watching Chopin in his prime. The guy oozes talent from every pore in his body. Even if their music isn't to your taste, it's fucking retarded to say that Muse suck.
@ShadowcasterZero I judge what has soul based on the feeling inside when you sing it they way it's sung in the version you are reproducing. Bublé's feels bland, and Nina has an entirely difference essence of age in it. Any other version than muse's makes me feel sad. I ACTUALLY feel refreshed singing Matt's version. Not to say Nina's isn't uplifting, but there is an unspoken sadness there. I like most of all how you assume what the artist intended, then ignore THIS video which I came to respect.
i actually think Adam Lambert did the best cover, and i hate that douche. Nina Simone definitely gave it the modern sound we hear in most covers the so kudos to her.
LOL I actually don't like this at all. But I like a couple of the covers that I've heard. Muse, Nina simone, Adam Lambert in particular. This is pretty awful. :)
no puedo creerlo, pense que sólo había una o dos canciones de "Feeling good" y ahora me salen como quinientos cuatro mil sugerencias a mi derecha de todas las versiones!! ...OK esta me aburre..me quedo con Muse!!
is this really the original? hmm..I dont like this version..it is uninteresting.. I am searching for the version I heard in a movie a while ago and it was really nice, more melodic, interesting and strong voice.. usually I like originals more because most of the covers are just crappy but with this song it is different
@jablkovastrudla try looking at Micheal Buble maybe he was the one who sang the version you thought....buts its always good to listen to the original to compare
@jablkovastrudla Actually, the very BEST version of the song is by the man who originally did it on Broadway -- GILBERT PRICE! He had an unbelievably powerful and controlled voice, and won the roll when Anthony Newley (the composer of the song) heard him sing ---even though Newley readily admits he was not "right" for the part, but his voice was the greatest he'd ever heard. The guy was a sensation! Check it out. It's on You Tube.
@gevelhet This may be the original version, but to say every cover of this song is crappy is just plain ignorant. This song has been covered many times by many great artists, you can't say every single one of those is bad.
mm, it's such a great song, but I think what really made it special was nina simone's cover. the trumpets and other instruments, the aggressive rhythm, just made it more amazing :O
All my mainstream friends didn't realise that this was the original, they thought it was Muse, and when I showed them this, one of them said "well there's no proof that this before". Dumb asses
covers give life back to original versions like this... i wouldn't even be here for that... so don't complan about muse or other artists... that's stupid
Kinda sad to her that Haley's singing this. Don't get me wrong... I LOVE HALEY... but it's been done so much on the show, and Adam had a huge moment with it. I'm really hoping she can pull it off!
Then again... I thought "I Who Have Nothing" was over done and Jordin had a moment with it... but Haley stole that moment! :]
@DDJJLL96 and yet you have no respect for the one who sang it first. Ignorance is bliss ey...Don't get me wrong though, i like Muse and their rendition. Not so many people know this came out of a Musical from 1965 called The Roar of the Greasepaint—the Smell of the Crowd written by Andrew Newly and Leslie Briscusse.
without covers the song would be probably "dead"... but covers give to the songs new life... i mean, muse version is really different, even the melody is different, but look at me, i'm listening this 1965 version and i think it's alright
@Scaar81 Isn't it? It's just funny how some people do not know or care where songs come from - ie their history...Frank SInatra also had a version also
I actually enjoyed this! I'm a huge fan of the Nina Simone version, but now I want to see this play some how. It's beautiful. Cy Grant's voice is cool and very soft. thanks for posting this.
I just watched the movie 'The Sea Wife' and decided to look up information on Cy Grant...a talented and distinguished man who just died this year. RIP.
This man is a legend... his rendition of this song is full of emotion, and I really like the arrangement, it adds a certain longing to the lyric, that can often be missed in bang, crash, wallop versions.. He lived ten lives to most men's one! RIP MR. GRANT XX
Cy Grant was a hero and should have more recognition.
Maybe not the best vocal performance of this song but he does sing it with heart and soul. I like the accompaniment with the vocal as it is very much of it's time.
in terms of standard it was good for it's day but in terms of the modern age of music it is... how do i put it... shit, sort of like hallelujah by lenoard cowen, im not trying to dis originals im just stating the facts
@DrinkOmally I can't agree with that... It's just a different, lighter feel than more recent music. Depending on my moods, I might prefer listening to this than to some more recent version, and I'm 16 so its not nostalgia or anything...
muse, nina simone and michael buble are the best versions in my opinion.
all three bring a uniqueness and originality to the song that can't be beaten.
