It's a beautiful country. This is one of the golden cities of Arabs. It shines because it has no enemies and there is a huge service industry created by the white-expatriates who lived/lived there. Indians work here as construction workers to top management professionals. The local population is seen in easy Government posts or as heads of businesses run by other expatriates. Some Arabs are poor enough to beg, which is amazing, since there are only 2-3 millions of them in all, and so much money exists to help everyone.

You are right about theocracy and climate, for us Europeans it will be for a short stay. But for people adapted to Arab culture and climate it can be very cool city to live after the construction will be finished

The mostly DUTCH architects and foreign investments is making Dubai what it is. The laws were bent from strick muslim law otherwise none of this would be happening. I still think there will be a lot of people who will not want to live there simply because the vast majority of muslims in all around UAE are poor and extremists; and the work conditions for the Indians is deplorable.
