i saw von and checo freeman great players, i also saw this majic man on sax, he developed his own style but retained much of the freeman aproach to the sax, it is sad to have lost him at such a young age when his tenure was not even close to being astablished, i will miss his potential greatness and hope that his replacement in history will be as majestic

I saw Art there too - it was in the early 90's. What a great player. And a showman too!

I was blessed to see Art in his first performance at the North Sea Jazz Festival - had no idea who he was at the time. His energy and talent just blew us all away! I saw him every year after that. He's not dead - just playing a gig to a celestial audience now....
