  • Im on a magic carpet trip right now thru a diffent dimension, cool

  • Steve Miller got me interested in synth early in life!

  • hes playing an electric sitar

  • Hmmmm... ♥ ;)

  • good headphone music. get out the bong and enjoy!

  • @emblemsluck Definitely, best within the confines of some really awesome headphones! Makes my ears feel good. Like, physically good.

  • GOD, I miss real music.

  • 6 People don't know about Wild Mountain Honey....

  • Gone through 3 copies of the "Fly Like an Eagle" album...2 on cassette and 1 on CD.

  • I heard this song for the first time last night on Rock Line, and I've decided that it is my favourite Steve Miller Band song.

  • I am 12 again!

  • Time to spark up another joint...

  • take everything away, whats left is pretty amazing.

  • I grew up with this music and all the great "Pioneers" of rock in the '60's & '70's. I believe the problem is that when these guys created their music, the music industry didn't realize what a cash cow they had and that allowed these bands alot of creative freedom and music was made for the sake of music. Now it's all about profit so the bands don't have that creative freedom. In the day, there was always new/different sounding music coming out. Not so much anymore and what a shame it is.

  • When i got my first pice this was the song that was playing~ So cool.

  • I was 17. Still love the Steve Miller Band!

  • yur gurl, some x, ahhh

  • some speckled ecstacy, yur girl...ahhhhh

  • I listen to songs like this .......makes me wonder what the hell happened to music nowadays!

  • @thunder9968 You are NOT alone !!!!!

  • i love this song man nice and relaxing beat and voice

  • i love this song man

  • BEST USE OF ELECTRIC SITAR AND SYNTHS IN ANY SONG !!!

  • Sorry, this was not Hippie Music- EVERYONE in my HS loved this album in '76 and most of us were far from Hippies- Steve however was from the hazy days

  • @kiaoraguy This was Chill music EVERYBODY loved. (the Punkers just didn't admit it, lol)

  • This is cool hippie music.

  • no conocia esta cancion pero me la he topado en la navegacion axcelente tema lastima no haberla escuchado antes

  • Thanx Manuelworker, excellent sound, never heard it like this back in the days! And what a great song!

  • THE 70s RULE.

  • I party with this band in the 70's up at Lake Tahoe and they were great, today this band is still great, todays music sucks big time, Lady GAGA GO TO HELL.

  • You know why you rarely hear this on classic rock radio? Because classic rock radio is quite lame, and very repetative.

  • @takemeback2 repetitive

  • @howtoplanaparty that too....

  • @takemeback2 very repetitive like your lame tired comments......yawn.

  • @chrismat1000 Take yourself a nap, youngin'

  • @takemeback2 oh......ok........duh!!!!!!

  • I wonder if they served mountain honey at the beggars banquet? Probably was huckleberry or possibly thimbleberry. Sure it is tasty whatrever the case may be.

  • So hauntingly beautiful - thanks for uploading this song - I love it!

  • It puts my whole body in a trance!!!

  • so smooth........I love it so much, It puts me in a trance!!!

  • still sounding oh so good after all these years...

  • @lynpres777 fuck of

  • Back in the day I wish We had more than 1 rock radio station and more than 5 TV stations!! I lived 70 miles North of Pittsburg close to Butler Pa.

  • The most underrated songwriter of the sixties and seventies

  • @mrniggerbaiter actually, there are 16 more underrated, than was he, but you have never heard of them.

  • Great song, heard all the intruments clearly after puffin' the magic dragon. Of course back in my younger years. Great night driving freeway music, Thanks.

  • wish steve miller band wouldn't play casinos

  • a world of money has little taste of wild mountain honey

  • Stevie Guitar Miller. Basically got me through college in the early 70's. Kinda lost touch with him after the commercial success of The Joker but the early stuff is brilliant. Glad for him he hit it big but the early albums were the best.

  • great song to make love on a waterbed to!

  • one of his best songs

  • Ditto, easy and mellow, NICE!

  • This is what music SHOULD be. Much of today's music is hardly music at all! I'm wondering what this world is coming to. :(

  • @Jibjub80

it is...it is and continues to be...case in point is bingo's 'oh, yeah'

steve still marches on and all is right with the world

  • This was good music!

  • I really love Steve's work, but especially love his work pre-Joker. All his work has inspired my band, however, I feel that Wild Mountain Honey off of the Fly Like An Eagle song was getting back to his roots. Guess we're stuck in the those roots. You can hear us on youtube, our songs "Tears" and "Mother Earth Prayer" by Medicine Road, has Gilmore, Hendrix, SRV and Miller influences. Peace

  • Steve Miller is our hometown Favorite. My brother once met him while delivering lumber he ordered to build his recording studio, when he lived in Williams Oregon, which by the way is where he wrote this wonderful song. Steve was nice enough to give my brother the combination to his gate, so my brother could fish in his stocked pond. :-)

  • @thedevilsdaughter65 Your post made my year. I lived near Grants Pass (Wilderville, actually). I had a friend whose dad took care of steve's place when he was gone. I never knew he wrote this masterpiece in good ole Williams, though. Thanks!

  • @68summertime Steve was always a real nice guy to us "locals" My brother delivered lumber to his place, that he used to build his recording studio. My brother commented on his fully stocked bass ponds. Steve gave him the combination to his gate, and told him, come fish whenever you want. Pretty cool guy! Was sad that he sold the place and moved.

  • really enjoy this one. good laid back beat!

  • This is a good song celebrating life.

  • There are still some really good bands out there. You just have to look a little harder these days.

Them Crooked Vultures" No one loves me and neither do I"

Bright Black Morning Light "Everybody Daylight" (I beleive that's name of the song)

The Eagles of Death Metal "Solid Gold"

Queens of the Stone Age "Powdered Wig Machine"

Just a few off the top of my head.

  • wow,,we had music,,might have dressed funny, though we didn't stay dressed very long,,did we let the kids down, or did they sell out?

  • being baked as hell and listing to this is fucking awesome!

  • Dulciedo hahaha that had Me chuckling. Sarcasm is the highest form of wit,Your comment proves this.

  • This song is amazing while your in an altered state. I understand it now...Its about a pot dealer who doesn't like it he is just doin it for money. And wild mountain honey is LSD and he'd make more money off dealing that. So then the second verse is about his first trip! I get it.

  • I am sitting with the guy who wrote this and am glad that it is meaningful to you but that is not what the song is about....it is about the web of life and the inter-relatedness of all living things--glad you love it though we do too :)

  • @TrishMcCarty1

I saw 'that guy' perform this song at the 40th summer of love anniversary in S.F.

I can honestly say It was one of the highlights of my day there.

    =)

  • @MrGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD hehe great thing about acid talk is it can be translated to fit everyones life. to me it was about my father and my two step brothers who are 5 and 6

  • Hey garycubfan, in an altered state is thee only way to fly!! When I listened to this album I was in the same state of the union LOL , and it sounded sooo good too.

  • I saw hm in concert down at the...The Medowbrook I think it was? He pulled out this awesome sitar guitar and played this song...I gotta say it sounds pretty hmm...I think 'Magical' is a good word. He had some guy who opened for him and he made him the mayor of swing town XD

  • GREAT

  • One of my favorite albums. First time I heard this album I was in an altered state. Each song was great. I went to the record store and bought it the next day.

  • My wife and I spent a lot of time making out in the back seat of my car while this music drifted softly out of the speakers. Ain't nothin' like fallin' in love in college. Still together after more than thirty years. Thanks for the memories.

  • beautiful

  • One Of the BEST Songs Ever!

  • can someone tell me what is wild mountain honey

  • Yup, sure. It's honey (y'know, the stuff that bees produce) that occurs in 'wild' bees nests in the mountains. I got this info. from the " Stating the Bleeding Obvious" website, which is a hive of information. Ok, I'm starting to drone on, so I'll buzz off now.

  • this is the perfect song after making love for hours..when your both tired as hell light up a smoke then put this on..

  • steve miller's alter ego. the joker????

  • Well, at least he sure don't wanna hurt no one !

  • The horse looks like the one at the Denver Airport...

  • what a mind ! this is my most fav. of his, well written thats all i can realy say

  • one of his best songs ever ! , next to joker that is

  • Thanks for the memories . I can close my eyes and it's 1976 again . Ibbey your not forgotten.

  • Its funny that with all the bands out there today we stilll keep coming back to the oldies

  • @grassman8100 most of them aren't bands. the're just a bunch of shitty posers.

  • @grassman8100 sad to say there is probably good talent out there today but can't get commercial backing so we get Lady GuGu and Justin Beiber shoved in our face, maybe we need to get back to AM radio and give the little guys a chance, let the public deside what is cool

  • @grassman8100

That, my dear grassman is because all of the good music was made in the 70's... with a few exceptions from the 60's.... *puff puff pass*

  • @grassman8100 its because they are and always will be the best no matter how old they are :)

  • @grassman8100 That's because most of the stuff today is crap. A few exceptions.

  • thank you

  • Steve Miller Band at its best! Thanks for posting this beauty!

  • Steve Miller is one of the most underrated musicians out there-this is one of his best!

  • this song defines mellow, it puts me in a mood.

  • remembering many years ago, taking wild mountain honey deep beaneath the earth under the red mountain for a festavial of silence. 2 miles deep, give or take 93 meters or so.

  • goo song i love the effects in 3:26 thanks for upload

  • way awesome dude

  • Thanks for uploading this for us! I adore this song-so hauntingly beautiful!

  • dude ive gotten high to this song so many times lol

  • One of the sweetest songs ever. Truly a desert island must!

  • damn, this brings back some memories...

  • thanks manuel that brings back good memories.

  • VERY REFRESHING TUNE...THANKS..

  • I call this the "Norwegian Wood" of the '70s (because of the sitar on both songs). Perhaps there may be a Steve Miller Band/Beatles mashup containing that and this song "Wild Mountain Honey," to be called "Wild Norwegian Wood."

  • Great deep cut from Fly like an Eagle! Book of Dreams' The Stake & "Sacrifice' are up there as well with some killer guitar...

  • this song reperasents my life! i love it

  • exellent song.

  • Perfect!

  • i guess this is on the same album as "fly like an eagle"?

  • I really hope that some dickwad TV producer somewhere doesnt exploit this song on some vacation commercial or some shit like that. Some things are just to special to be commercialized. This song all by itself, single-handedly destroys all of "hiphop" and erases every syllable and note that ever desecrated our culture.

  • WOW DUDE! You just gave me a great idea for a condom commercial!

    Gee Thanks Dude! |:-)~

  • i hope they start making more United States Postal Service commercials with Steve Miller Band songs. Oh, and fuck you for being such a close minded prick for thinking that hip-hop has desecrated culture in any way, shape, or form. Stop listening to the radio so much.

  • thank you, thank you for that comment. so many people assume hip hop is only the crap on the radio. Bless you bro.

  • Amazing how certain songs bring back yesteryear.. for me this song puts me in my buddy's car draggin' main in Hutchinson KS...or listening to headphones in my room at my childhood home "on east 5th" .. ah memories.

  • im feelin ya...............memories

  • "My Grandpa, he's 95, and he keeps on dancin', he's still alive"...

  • Towards the very end, background vocals hum the synth hook...

  • I got laid to this song for the 1st time back in 1976....... In Tallahassee,FL after a high school football game in Quincy,FL against Godby High @ Shanks (I went to Godby) Godby won 49-0 and the girls name was Brenda Bell ......... I miss you Brenda, love Gary

  • awesome! thumbs up for that story.

  • No problem!!! This song brings back some great memories (but my first time is the BEST memory) I wonder where you are Brenda ????? well anyway Go Godby Cougars & Thanks Steve Miller Band

  • huhhH?

  • What a trip through time this song is. When listening to this I am taken back to 1974 growing up in Northeast Los Angeles and all the sights, sounds, and simple fun associated with my youth. Nothing extraordinary about my experiences, but they all come together in a mental video with this song. I never needed drugs, I had songs like this. Damn, this song is cool. I need a sensual woman to dance with me to this. Anybody out there?

  • Would have loved an extra two minutes in this song, just a trippy instrumental part in the middle. Then back to the vocals. Would have been so cool...

  • this song's message is the epitome of the whole 60's movement, the basic philosophy advocating how to live -- life is too precious to be wasted, enjoy, spread the gladness, love your family -- like it says in every holy book there is -- not hard, not trite -- work enough to live, but most importantly give your love freely to those around you -- if you set the pace, show you mean it, the joy comes back around to you - & how great to be a leader in your world, a Prince of Peace - no joke

  • One of my favorite Steve Miller tunes of all time.
