  • Fanfuckingtastic :)

  • best. song. ever.

  • Sick.

  • This recording is a milestone in musichistory. People just don´t realise it´s greatness right now just like they didn´t J.S. Bach greatness when he was still alive.

  • @SevenCircles I thought they were aware of Bach's greatness.

  • 4 people are obtuse pieces of flotsam

  • @ChipAnnaChair

who cares if some people dont like this song....I mean I love it, but what a boring world it would be if everyone liked the same things

  • Interesting song...

  • world moves on a womans hips

  • This has been my favourite song for over 30 years. Nothing has come remotely close.

  • Wow, Adrian Belew. Wish I had that talent.

  • The world of light, she's gonna open our eyes up!

  • please play those bongos laud, please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Words cannot describe the awesomeness of the Heads...so I'll make up one

    BOMBATASTICALINPLOSIVE!!!

  • This album is so great and still sounds fresh.

  • How is this album so perfect?!

  • > INSPIRATION

  • @odiealegodediego At the time this album was light-years ahead of its time. It heavily featured loops and many of the songs also featured ( like this one ) african rhythims which were not very commonly used in 80's music industry. That might be the reason why people hold it so dear to their heart.

  • remain in light

heard it +100.000 times + TODAY =still gives me the creeps

  • This album renewed my faith in pop music when I first heard it...keep in mind this was during the era of Christopher Cross and just after disco was freshly dead...

  • That guitar riff reminds me of a similar one throughout the song BARE TREES by Fleetwood Mac

  • Sexy, sexy polyrhythms.

  • How could I have forgotten this song?! It is so fucking BRILLIANT!

  • This song... This fucking song... It is a masterpiece.

  • Bought the cassette at Goodwill for .50 cents. Win.

  • @YeJiub 50C ?!

  • @YeJiub 50C ?!

  • @dayvenkirq lol yep

  • energy!

  • energy

  • @andyaccent is that Energy?

  • 7th(? days in a week yes work and resting moon 2nd vs feast day night of the fall solstice fell and the fish will allway's run south

  • 7th(?

  • Talking Heads are best ... somehow it remains me to Godley & Creme "The Problem"

    Or Zappas "Fine Girl"

  • Epic

  • favorite song on an album full of incredibly great songs

  • Nona Hendryx's backing vocals are so siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick, gives me the goosebumps every time! Especially when they've layered two tracks of her voice from 1:28 and later on. Together with the insanely driving rhythm and tempo, it's impossible to stand still...

  • Robert Palmer? addictited to love? really? this album gets better and better

  • love the way its layer upon layer of music building in tempo. full of cresendos. rollercoaster of a song. pure art.

  • great song one of my best

  • As long as it's not Clapton's bald percussion guy on bongos, I'm happy. That guy over dramatizes EVERYTHING. Like that last tamborine shake was the artistic statement of the century!

  • @DerKosmonaut77 YES. That live album is just amazing. Some of the very best versions of their work are all on that album.

  • Yeah, Talking Heads are pretty much my favorite band. And I would have to say that Remain in Light is my favorite album by them.

  • Comment removed

  • And you thought Robert Palmer was just another pretty face.

  • Best guitar solos ever.

  • blending afrobeat and new wave=epic

  • GREAT!!!!!!!

  • Robert Palmer carries this song

  • Good musicians borrow tunes; Great ones steal them..African polyrhythms + Eno + THs >>> DIS STUFF!

  • @MDJarv try Epicavernoustaggeringrandeur :)

  • They listened a lot to african "hi-life" during this period, if I´m not mistaken. Fela Kuti & that stuff...

  • One person tried to touch it, but he couldn't hold on.

  • Best album of the 80s.

  • not often do you find complex layering, balance, edge and a head that absolutely kicks ass - purely poetic primal power- this band was enlightened

  • Everybody's complaining about the music in the 80's.........Well at least the decade started with 2 MARVELOUS albums, TH's remain in light and King Crimson's Discipline.....

  • @g74ui78ll88ermo It ended with Talk Talk's Spirit of Eden, so clearly there was *some* good music.

  • Amen to the top comments. Unlike most music today, you can listen to this 10 times and here something different. it also progresses, it has a beginning , middle , and end.

  • "Remain.." is a Masterpiece.Twenty and more years forward than the rest of '80!

  • Fucking bliss.

  • Fucking excellent.

  • Surely one of the very greatest offerings of the entire decade.

  • in 1980 I was 16 years old..... and I still love this great track..... ♥

  • Remain in light. An Important record in music history.

  • play it LOUD...always!

    love this gem..

  • Belew kills !

  • Is it just me, or aren't Belew's guitar tricks on this track - I'm thinking of around 2:00 and 5:30 - well ... annoying? I love the song and the album, but frankly, I could do without the guitar screeches. Same goes for his screeches on the live performances of Crosseyed and Painless.

  • @algiardello Nope ... I like 'em.

  • @algiardello

I don´t like them either, would be cool if Holdsworth did the solos instead ;)

  • those guitar solos are the shit......adrian belew.....amazes me every time i hear this

  • @callicolady Yeah, That solo on this song! Man, that's the shit you want to wake up the neighborhood with the night you get that Marshall Stack! (or whatever stack if you hate Marshall.)

Happy 3am losers! I have a 200 watts of pure God Meat! LOL (God Meat! That's stupid, but it makes sense!)

  • @minxlabrada mr belew is flying :) <3

  • talking heads always deliver

  • There is so much going on in this song at once... so many layers upon layers. Yet it all fits together perfectly. 'Remain in Light' is a masterwork of studio production with Mr. Eno at the helm. I don't think some people can quite comprehend what went in to making this album. Epic is too small a word.

  • @MDJarv i agree completely.the full sound, so good!

  • Comment removed

  • @MDJarv

So right! Most can't comprehend the level of sophistication that's being broadcast on this album. Hell, these dumb-downed people today think Lady Gaga is music? Forgive for mentioning that wench on a TH thread, but I had to make the analogy. Sorry!

    EPIC is right!

  • @MDJarv

While it is true that Eno was involved in the production, it has been stated often by Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth that Talking Head member Jerry Harrison had more to do with the sound of this masterpiece than Byrne and Eno would admit. Anyone who has heard Harrison's first solo album (from 1981) cannot mistake just how influential he was

  • Thanks for uploading the HQ

  • best song from the best album of the time..........

  • starting to tear up.

  • Fantastic. Talking Heads was making different music!

  • izvrsno!

  • @Msdodoable Slazem se, potpun zvuk, savrsen kvalitet. ovakvu muziku vise niko ne snima:((

  • what a shining example of how talking heads' music transcends time!

  • thanks a million!!

  • Thank you man, this is my favourite song off the album.

  • Thanks again!!!!!!!!!!!!
