Besides, maybe he did, or was going to take them to slam claims. Going to the news is a very smart strategy. One, it doesn't cost the victim anything. Two, the negative publicity usually shames the company into doing the right thing. Three, it warns other people about a fraudulent company.

Local news stations generally don't cover national news unless it affects them locally, (eg. local veterans).
