These have just been augmented to 6, with a treble (as a pose to a tenor) don't know if they are any better sounding, you should hope so!! Any old excuse to come back!! :)
You'll find out that it is definitely not a good idea to slide your hand up the rope, it can cause you to get blisters because your hand is moving up and down the rope so much... ring a peal and you'll find out!
That would have been a more interesting story, when we asked what happened the tenor they said it just 'happened' like that, and they don't think they can fit in a tenor on the end as there is not enough space!
@1BODGER95 Wait till you ring a peal at Oldham..... 35cwt on 3 tiers and you ring the other 2 tiiers, the tower, the Church and the Town. The tenor is on the bottom & shakes the rest of 'em to bits so if you put a tenor on top you'll just shake the tower to bits. I'll give you the notorious 10th if i ever see you there & I'll stand & laugh. Then I'll say the word you used...bollocks
Minor rings of 5 are very Unusual, when we got to the tower on the day, we realised something was missing from outside. I rang the treble to this piece and it was a lovely bell!
when i first looked i thought it was a ring of 6, and they were ringing on the front 5, but then i looked at the vid description. very strange but great vid all the same.
Although these bells didn't have a proper tenor I thought they sounded quite good and went well....
Have you ever rung at a tower that is officially in a Major key but sounds like a minor one... I have it was horrible - the worst tuning ever *OUCH*!!!

Why on earth do founders make minor rings of five? Surely they could have been tuned, or a tenor added instead of the treble?

It's much easier when you run the rope through your hand isn't it, I do that, didn't for a while but do now, I know I shouldn't but I prefer to lol

very nice. look nice to ring, were they?

yes ... well at least the treble was - it was one of those tower open days where it's one quick ring and move on

Bolocks! Put a tenor on a seperate frame above. Oldham parish church has a 4 level frame.

Good solution if you have a tall enough tower, there would be room for loads more people to stand but tower wasn't tall enough!
