  • Aww man, I was waiting for the big KABLAAAAM at the end!

  • is that a jag bass I see

  • Did Pat get back to his weight? Haven't seen him since we were at his 2008 Halloween house party. Hope his health is solid. I posted some videos from that party. DiNizio and friend sing Beatles and the blurry one, Mississippi Queen at DiNizio's with my 13 year old nephew and Pat's friends covering. Ah Scotch Plains…

  • Damn, they are good!!! Thanks for the post, have not heard this in years...they are so underrated...I love'm!

  • Awesome tune!

  • Man I love these guys !! I hope they are still together, they sound great live, hope to still see them someday !!

  • The Pride of New Jersey! The BEST!!!

  • the band rocks...they are a great band, there on time.

  • One of the defining songs of the 1990's...

  • Long live tube amps!!!

  • Is this the original bass player?

  • @kissrev1 no-Mike Messaros packed it in and is living in LA...they won't really say much...the new guy-Thrilla is a blast!

  • Wish them all well. Meds or no meds - just not my biz. They rock. :)

  • I curse the dislikers

  • HA! Homeboy is big as a house now!

  • @thepoofer ha! sos your mom! fuck you. listen to how good this band is, and then shut up. i hate judgemental pricks like you.

  • Lost my virginity after a Smithereens concert, and a few years later got to thank them for the help. They looked at me like I was crazy, but you have to give credit where credit is due.

  • Very good. These guys really have fun! Wish i was there.

  • Pat's a fighter. He's a good Jersey boy and they got a history of fighting back against all kindsa odds. GO SMITHEREENS!!!!

  • Thankks a lot for the info. So Pat is okay I mean health-wise ?

Putting weight works well on vocal power for sure. But he does look really big. I knew him when he was slim so worried

a lot. Good to know that they still rocks.

  • Pat (singer) Jim (lead guitar) and Dennis (drums) are all original members. Mike Mesaros "retired" in 2006ish. "The Thrilla" (from Manila) - a long time fan - has been playing the bass since then. I saw them this week and Pat is still a big guy. Aside from his health, I don't really care about his size - he still sings incredibly well. I talked with the band after the show, and they are very possbily the nicest guys I've ever met (musician-wise). The show absolutely ROCKED.

  • are these the original members?!?

  • I love these guys! A lot of talent and very underrated. God bless Pat and the guys!

  • pound for pound one of the BEST bands on the planet.

  • Wow!!! Did Pat get Fat?

  • Dude, Pat had to take meds for a health condition, thats what caused his weight gain, Pat is one of the coolest guys around, and The Smithereens define Rock 'n Roll..

  • Pat had a really serious neurological illness and had to take a lot of Prednisone (a steroid) which, if you don't know anything about it, makes you super moody and you put on a lot of weight. I think someone told me he is off it now, but I'm not really sure. My youngest son had the same problem and it does reoccur.

  • Smithereens website has clip from Feb 09, and Pat looks slim and healthy now.

  • Thanks, Mike! Glad to hear that. He must be coming off the meds now; at least I hope so.

    Thanks,

    Jim

  • This is a great song, came out in '89 (20 yrs ago!!!) if 'im not mistaken...agree w/ cryosurgeon, Pat Dinizio is one of the greatest voices in rock , altough quite underrated...

  • I saw this band 20 years ago in Atlanta about 6 times and what i liked most was that these shows seemed to have the same audience.

The same faces up front. A very loyal following.

Great shows, great songs, great albums.

    Remeber records?

  • when are these guys coming back to western new york? I'd love to see them again. and what happened to mike mesaros?

  • He closed his shop, sold his house and bougt a ticket for the west coast, now he produces a stand up routine in LA

  • I wouldn't know about Mike M, but Denis D( drummer) plays some gigs in NJ. My guitar instructor plays with him on some gigs. This is one of the American bands that should tour more even though they are a liitle older.

  • The lead singer here has one of rock n roll's best voices ever. I really mean that. Very clear and very smooth with no imperfections. Where is this band playing in August of 2008?

  • ecsc at the oceanfront ( VA Beach, VA.)

  • Wife and I Saw the lead guitarist in a hotel elevator Charlotte some years ago. Lead singer ws in the lobby. he said he worked as a DJ for XM (at the time). Saw cheap trick the night Before

  • Just saw these guys a mere four hours ago in Lake in the Hill, Illinois. They were great!

  • what are the chords to this song? I cant find a good tab.

  • The trick to playing the Smithereens is you need to tune your guitar down a half step. Try this out and let me know. It's a fun song to play. intro AAAGA AAAGA GAAG, AAAGA AAAGA GAAG, A A A G A D G Em A A A G A D G Em verses/main riff (I used to travel in the shadows...) A A A G A D G Em pre-chorus/chorus(I'll say anything you want to hear...) G A G D A (I'll do anything I have to do...) G A C Em D A A A G A D G Em
  • Are those the words, LOL? "AAAGA, AAAGA, GAAG.."

  • the verse actually goes a g a d f e

and the prechorus im pretty sure you switch the c for f also

  • Thanks for posting. I love this band!!!

  • SADLY, some people are IGNORANT and post unnecessary comments not knowing that some people have health issues and need to take medications that cause them to gain weight.....

  • Thanks for posting. Saw them last night and were as great and fun as the first time I saw them live in 1990.

  • Good Lord, that isn't the same lead singer, is it?

  • yep, that's him sadly.

  • Are you always this shallow? At least he enjoys what he's doing instead of being hung up on trying to please people like you!

  • look at them! still having fun 30 years into it. nothing fancy, just in your face rock and roll. my favorite band ever.
