this album did so much for hip hop. in 1988 hip hop took off because everyone, in anticipation for this album, stepped their game up to create their best albums yet, or at least everyone already making hip hop. i mean Public Enemy, Big Daddy Kane, Ice T, NWA, and so many more. both this album and Paid In Full are the reason hip hop is so famous today.
