ukyo wasn't cheap, kyoshiro was cheap especially after ss2; range, speed power... even a beginner who didn't know his special moves could make him formidable
@florin84p You can get it for the Wii on the virtual console or buy Samurai Shodown Anthology, which contains the entire series, for PS2 or Wii. Or you can just emulate it.
I could never play Ukyo. I kept getting confused which direction I was supposed to be going, because the bastard insists on looking backward over his shoulder instead of straight ahead.... I know. Pathetic as hell but true.
these guys are really fucking good, and for all the stupid maggots who don´t know how to play there are no such thing as cheap moves, in ANY fighing games, there are only good and bad players...
the swallow slash is very tempermental, its impressive how the player could do the move even before the jump was in air. but these 2 players had skill.
I love this game so much I been trying to get a Neo Geo AES just so I can play it but i'm not sure if I have to get the UK or Jap version and if I get Samurai Showdown or Samurai Spirit. Apparently they are the same, does anybody know?
The system is region free I believe for the AES system so you should be fine with either choice you make. If you want to save money with games - try to get the MVS version. They have a converter that plays the arcade carts on the AES system. or you can get a consolized Neo Geo (plays arcade neo geo games). Hope this helps some - google: Neo Geo MVS and you should get some good results. Good luck :)
samurai shodown is a really cheap aes cart. for some games mvs converters is the cheaper way to go. But that mvs converter is like $250 so for certain games its not. You should be able to find a copy of samurai shodown/spirit for under $50 without breaking a sweat. Though if your considering getting something like metal slug you might just want to look into one of those converters.
Tam Tam, Haoumaru, and Galford in the first one. I stick with Jubei, Wan Fu, Sieger and Charolette in the second. I didn't touch much of the others or didn't play them much, maily due to the fact that they never released in my area. I'm glad that a collection game is coming.
get ready people- this game, world heroes, metal slug, fatal fury, baseball stars, king of monsters and somemore will be on SNK collection for PS2 in april!!!
It's just like street fighter 2 championship edition. There's no moves to override blocks other then throwing them. So yah, being patient and playing good defense as well as good offense is crucial to winning matches vs players.
wan fu fo teh win! i love how you throw the sword, they block high you come with a low kick BOOM busted weapon everytime! they took that out in the 2nd game though! :-(

WanFu was my favorite character in SS1. What he lacked in speed he more than made up for in power and reach, plus some surprise tricks up his sleeve.

@phoenixicarus Wan-Fu was in 2, but didn't appear again until 6 (much like Gen-An and Sieger).

C'mon man, next you'll tell me that the only way to play as Earthquake is to duck and keep hitting the heavy slash for the three hitter.
sserpent21 3 years ago
I agree with Keioffice kinda. The Swallow Swipe is very Important for Ukyo players, although he did kinda spam it. Who do you play as?

The Swallow Swipe is just an overusable move in Samurai Showdown I. In Samurai Showdown II, it's a downright broken move...
But I think he used it so much because half of his opponents were turtling like mad.

Two of my favorite characters are dueling it out at the beginning of this clip; Wan-Fu and Ukyo.
By the way, this is not the SNES port; it looks too good to be either the SNES or Genesis port. LOL.
This is the original Neo-Geo game.
