  • unless ur china. olympics hurt the local economy.

  • I am so thankful to have Stefan walking through the logical details. I learn A LOT!

  • lol Liandri...

  • visit free internet radio bangladeshiradio.webs.com

  • Why wouldn't they just force people to buy insurance cards? Or something along those lines?

By the way, that ending was wonderful. I have a lot to learn. Thank you for helping me see my level of unawareness.

  • Stefbot,

Love your work, I truly do. I've got some issues with parts of this video though.

Insurance: if it takes time to process, people will keep the insurance for all other basic health services. If you get apendicitis and have 2 day's worth of hospital bills and are uninsured, you're screwed.

Also on insurance: making the companies have to take anyone means that they can no longer drop people who become too costly to continue to cover, as they've been doing. Would a free market solve this?

  • good video, but why so much hate for athletes and artists? That's not cool.

  • Whether an actor is an artist is debatable. And he didn't hate on any of them anyway, he hated on the public's senseless adoration of them.

  • libertariaism is associated with rejection of evolution? i don't think so.

  • In mainstream media, it is.

  • Come on, jumping high and running fast is not stupid. The olympic organization might be "disagreeable" but that doesn't make judo, soccer and 100m track stupid!

  • No, it doesn't. But it still could be construed in such a way. Do you at least see where he's coming from? -Why- do you think the 100m is, well, not-stupid? Which do you think is more "stupid" - people spending their time learning / helping others, or people spending hundreds of hours tuning their bodies to move quickly?

  • Come on Stef, it's pretty damned impressive to see the limits of human athleticism pushed, and new heights reached. Taken for that alone, sporting events are worthy and virtuous and valuable (imo). Of course, I don't like every sport, and hate that my wealth is stolen to fund trampolene jumping :-0

  • "virtuous"

Hundreds die weekly of thirst alone. It costs $200 US to drill a well. Think of how much money the US public spends on sports. Where is the virtue in choosing entertainment over lives? That may not be the choice people are making, though only out of ignorance, but it is their effectual choice.

  • @PSK11489

    Let's all be entertainmentless, then?

  • Stefbot you are awsome! So insitefull it's amaizing! Thank you

  • Thanks! :)

  • Smoker, Atheist, Anarchist!!!

    That's me! :D

  • Yes the free market is both misunderstood and maligned if comparison is made with social darwinism. Something called social darwinism itself is difficult to substantiate if you accept an interpretation of darwinism from Richard Dawkins as in The Genius of Charles Darwin. He has it that real social darwinism is about being nice to your group, i.e. the entire species.

  • we are trained to constantly entertained , with big screen TVs, video games, hundreds of cable/ satellite channels so we can avoid taking a hard look at our governments.

  • all you have to do is look at the state of the world, today. it's ALL about distractions! we are constantly at war and in strife because we are too busy with meaningless pastimes!

  • Why doesn't anybody talk about HSA's w/rollover as a possibility for healthcare

  • Orwell was a smart man, Aldous Huxley was brilliant!

  • I want to comment on 2 things; The first is that Obama said the Public Option would be self sustaining and would run solely on money from people who buy it. You said that the government would either print money or use taxes, which at least seems like a false dichotomy. The second thing is you said that people would just get insurance after they get sick, when it's in the bill to make people have health insurance, like how people have car insurance. Is there a reason you left these 2 things out?

  • Even though sports is the creation of unneeded enemies, I still think that if we can can get rid of that (somehow) it's just entertainment. Directing a movie is not very virtuous,, but it's entertainment. Come on. I know that philosophy and knowledge and understanding is important, but you can only think about that stuff so much. You need some simple entertainment to unwind.

  • I really don't understand where you're coming from regarding athletics. In what sense is it ridiculous to enjoy watching, or being involved with athletics? And do you extend this to other sports as well?

  • I think he's referring more to the frenzied or intensely patriotic fanaticism around certain large sporting events.

  • Well I don't object to that interpretation, but I really can't see where it comes from. At this point (from 3.37), he makes it clear that it's specifically the "stupid and inconsequential" acts and "ab-ripped nonsense" which he has a problem with, and the fact that some are impressed with this.

He then makes it clear that it's really the fact that ethics and philosophy don't enjoy the same reverence which he is annoyed about, but the original statements are still there.

  • Just curious. Are you a big sports fan yourself?

  • me? no...

  • No, the other fellow. I had a feeling you weren't, Stef ;)

I'm not a fan of sports either, I can only really enjoy the individual skill from time to time.

I find it quite primitive overall.

  • good video stef

  • I call myself a supporter of voluntary interaction, that usually doesn't ring any prejudice bells in peoples' heads, which makes it easier to debate without the usual stupid platitudes that people use when they believe to have recognized an ideology.

  • No one should have to die because of being poor. What on earth should we do about someone who can't afford the insurance payments?

  • I don't know. But we definitly shouldn't rob anyone

  • I don't approve of stealing for entertainment, but one's life is the higher priority.

  • with good people like you caring for the less fortunate i belive we can take care of them, and never resort to violence except in selfdefense

  • Well you and I both care about such people, and I would be happy to donate, and I'm sure you would be as well, so we can be very sure that such people will be taken care of in a truly free and peaceful society -- and of course insurance will be far cheaper as well... :)

  • Most people have no problem contributing to good causes so why rob the few scrooges who don't?

  • I still agree everyone has a right to healthcare, regardless of money, but the way they are going about it, from what I can tell from that video is wrong.

  • This man is of an unsurpassed brilliance.

  • Can someone explain to me what's so ridiculus about the Olympic Games?

I do actually give a rats ass about who runs the fastest, I like sports. Does that make me ridiculus? Perhaps I misunderstood something here.

  • He's saying it seems a bit pointless. At the end of it we find out that some people are more athletic than other people, at great expense to the local taxpayer.

  • I still don't see what's so bad about sports. Sure, the Olympics cost a lot to host and it brings with it a lot of other problems but what does that have to do with the sports themselves.

Sports are good for your health too. ;)

  • I agree that sports can be healthy activities (of course this means playing not watching) but it always kills me when it becomes so important to have that gold medal even if health is compromised. Why don't they just run out to Spencers gifts and pick up a gold medal:)

I think the question is why is it more important who wins a singing competition or throws a spear the furthest than how we ethically conduct ourselves in every day life.

  • There's no way the lawyers will _allow_ the doctors to give up their exclusive license. If we reduce or scrap licensing requirements for doctors and the cost of health care goes down what will people think? They'll think "I wonder if that would work for lawyers too?", and it would. So no way are lawyers letting that happen.

  • Good for you....

  • its like you open my head and scoop out the brainwashing everytime i watch

  • can you not speak so fast please? its difficult to hear at times.

  • Replay the video or whatever segment you missed :)

  • Barely anyone even knows of Ron Paul's stance on evolution is. Of all things to attack him on, that's a surprising choice.

  • pray to your slave owners...maybe it might work..question is are you a slave....or do you have a real chose? well do ya..punk? peace love and anarchy, jake,x

  • haha thanks i'll post this on the FDR board! :)

  • Good Video!

However I like to think we can destroy the bill or vote someone in that will stop it in 2012. These bills do not go into effect until 2013 so we would have time. I say coordinate your fellow man to stand with you against these things and we may be able to stop the madness.

  • 5:50 it's like pontypool...good movie.

  • @Vid

With that opening, I almost expected to see you wearing a suit and glasses when you popped onto the screen.

"At the end of his Q&A, Moore pushed the audience to understand that while they don't have the money, they do have the vote. He implored them to use their vote to take money from one group to give it to another group. Did he really say that openly with no ambiguity? Yes, sadly."

That quote was from a recent mises org article titled "Michael Moore Kills Capitalism with Kool-Aid".

  • @Vid

You also said that this socialized healthcare will fail like every other social program, or something to that extent, And I agree.

I am curious, what do you think the root of all this is? Personally I think one point is government schools. Where as in the past kids would be getting a good work ethic, now all they do is go and set in class, and are force fed what they need to learn. (Well that seems to be the gist of it)

    Anyways just curious.

  • you can use the word anti-statism!!!

  • Question Stef: When you are walking around in the general world do you keep your opinions to yourself or do you speak up. For instance I have seen so many vaccine booths set up in the grocery store and at school. Do you inform people in those situations or do you save it for the videos?

  • very good question. I am also interested in his answer.

  • If he is like me, he held his mouth shot.

  • Well i just realize how crazy my oppinion sounds to most people and keep them for ppl i think i can make an impact on. life is too precious to waste on irrational ppl, i just wait for those that show an inkling of an intrest in freedom.

  • Many fine points raised.

I would only disagree as a weak atheist, and also, when you mentioned our society's obsession with athletics etc., you also said something about singing. Is this to say you deny the merits and genuine happiness brought by art?

  • I think he is making fun of the values of our society. Not the things itself.

  • Thanks for putting the subject in the title. It's easier to get people to actually watch the video when they know what it's going to be about..

    Awesome information!

  • great video, thanks.

could you make a video of the decaying socialist systems in Europe?

  • what follows after people only getting insurance when they are sick is mandatory insurance (or is that what is meant with socialized health care?)

  • Never. Rome was hopelessly disfunctional, but lasted 500 years in the West and 1000 years in the East. In the East they were replaced by a new state (the Ottomans), and in the West, after several centuries of feudalism (which is ritualised war-lordism), new states eventually emerged.

China also has a similar history of states remaining stable for centuries, followed by collapse, and then the eventual re-emergence of a new state.

  • The polls i've seen show that a narrow majority of americans oppose the creation of a public option.

  • omg new stefbot video!!!! yaaaaeeeehhhhh!

  • I have rarely heard such succinctly-stated, profound, concentrated truth. Great vid!

  • In 200 years. In the mean time what is important for the Oligarchs is that YOU LIVE in a state Fear Anxiety, Logical-Fear, to pay Green Taxes, get Vaccinations, accept Fascist Police state, and more inflation.

Look at Health Care issue. Sorry but Stef doesn't get it. Look the end result: Corporate Profit. Congress just pushed through a ACCEPTABLE legislation that will PENALIZE Americans who DON'T have ANY INSURANCE. with heavy FINES. Classic Bait&Switch- 1st start good intent then screw us.

  • Off topic but, I would like know your opinion on The Lisbon Treaty farce that is currently going on in Ireland. I thought it might be some interest to you considering your ancestry.

  • Stef: Do you not support Ron Paul? Seems an awful lot like shooting yourself in the foot to arbiatrily cut off a huge number of like-minded people because you think some of their followers might be creationists. Ron Paul's religion aside, he wouldn't force chritianity upon anybody, and that is the kind of Libertarianism I want people to think of when I use the term. It's the Ayn Rand connection to Libertarianism that make the argument difficult.

  • ron paul wont live up to his promises

  • It's not that Ron Paul won't live up to his promises, it's that he can't live up to them. His decisions would be overturned too frequently by the statists that occupy Congress and will continue to occupy.

  • Ovalshine: Couldn't agree more. It always happens, and it always will, the authoritarianism it rebranded. However, that doesn't mean effort, education, the continuation of the philosophy should be abondoned because people may overturn it later.

  • It goes against his moral views to impose his will on another. Politicians by definition promise to impose their will on others.

  • So, what is his solution? The way we should all change the world is by all agreeing with Stef, but then doing nothing about it, because it would be immoral for any of us to become Politicians? However much that politician reduces the use of force by the state? Rational, lets all just cut ourselves of from our political allies. I'd rather stand with Ron Paul's followers, and reduce the power of the state, than just understand why it should be reduced.

  • I feel you when you say you want a change. I do too. I looked into RP for that change but soon realized he could bring none and wanted to bring none. I don't know if Stef has a solution. I haven't seen all his videos. Maybe he will respond to this.

  • Ron Paul is reducing the power of the state? Cool! Could you show me some examples of this?

  • You can read? Can you show me some examples of this? What an absurd question. I never once said he was actively asserting violence or nonforce to reduce the power of the state. He however, does do everything within his power to do so, always aims for nonviolent options, and chooses politics as the only viable root by which actual implementation of change can be made. Exactly where did Stef reduce the power of the state? Oh wait, neither of us said either of those things...

  • After watching this I am more and more convinced that the world is doomed.. Of course not in the traditional sense

  • Brilliant! Best one in a while. :D. I love how animated you are when you speak.

  • Did stef just blow a kiss at us? lol

    And yes, helpful as always.

  • not 'us' - the kiss was just for you... ;)

  • Why can't insurance companies accept patients with preexisting conditions? Certainly not at the same rate of premiums as a comparatively healthy patient, but at an increased cost, which reflects the additional risk of taking on such a customer. Or is there regulation to prevent such measures?

  • I confuse the word "libertarianism" with you and not Ron Paul, so don't worry :)

  • You are pretty much critisising all forms of sport in this video....

  • Your forgetting that health insurance will be mandatory like car insurance, so no one can opt out, those that do will be fined.

  • I'm 21 years old. I'm an engineering student trying to make something for myself in this world, and it seems like the world is just bound to fall apart all around me.

All I can do is talk about the truth? I can't help but feel an inkling of despair slowly swallowing me whole.

  • I know how you feel.

Take comfort in the fact that you can avoid at least some of the surrounding insanity, because you can recognize it for what it is.

Better to see through the lies than to believe them.

  • I'm a civil engineer. When I graduated 17 years ago there were no jobs, but I was willing to do all sorts of unconventional work. Finally 7 years I got the job of my dreams and all is well. You just need to be patient and persistant, and never lose hope.

  • I know what you mean. Often I can't fall asleep at night because of worries about the future of society.

  • 10:47 What would you how change on the health system? Any suggestions?

  • The anti-statist position is that there should be no "system"--health care is a commodity like any other and should be available unregulated through a free market.

  • 6:41 And then there is a cycle: "We need more money (for health care)!" "Let's print more money!!"

  • 3:46-4:01 Awesome! xDDDDDDD

  • What would you do if the system would work you like it?

  • wow!!!

  • excellent thoughts

    thanks for sharing as usual

reason from first principles is philsophy, which is the excellence of the human mind at work

    keep the true news coming

    thanks!!

  • Question: If the Democrats just ram this health care through without compromise and getting the public to accept and tolerate the bill they come up with, couldnt the republicans, when they regain power, just break down or even abolish the bill put into place by the democrats?

  • yes, but it's unlikely. After you create a system like this, it causes instant destruction to the system, and also causes dependency. At this point it's basically impossible to remove democratically. You have to Phase it out rather than just repeal it, which never happens in politics.

  • 1. You create a public option.

    2. People switch to it and get sick

If you try to end it they will be unable to get private "insurance" (what we currently have isn't insurance) because of the prexisting condition. That's something no politician will touch with a 10ft pole.

Bonus, when the new system turns out to suck more balls then the old system there's no going back due to these new dependents. So the only solution is, [drum roll] single payer!

    Ta Da!
