  • to be honest that guitar outro is quite staggering!

  • One of the more amazing bands I like :)

  • Oasis WISHES...

  • not only the greatest stone roses song.... and theres plenty of great ones, one of the greatest songs ive ever heard. never get tired of it and never will. got me ticket for heaton park on june 30th today and i cannot wait to go.!!!!!! just missed out on spikey and i got a 2nd chance now!!

  • The Stone Roses are the new Beatles.

  • PUBBLICITA' V A F F A N C U L O

  • You MarkTurver put "(audio only)" on every Roses song...you're wrong, you should put "(God's playlist only)"

  • As far as I'm concerned, it's the greatest outro ever.

  • 2 dislikes? really?

  • Mark Turner you're a legend for all these videos, cheers mate.

  • one of the best lyrical songs of all time , pure genius

  • Great song from the greatest album ever imho!!

  • @STUKAY Yeah, I like that kind of thinking!!! I think its at least ONE of the greatest albums of all time. We need people with enough brain to quit worshiping the Beatles and give newer music some love!

  • I'm throwing stones at you man!!

  • The picture looks like a map. With lemons in it.

  • @studas2011

Looks more like a Jackson Pollock.

  • @studas2011 thats manchester mate..its full of fuckin lemons !!!!!!!

  • @senanLFCmcgrath Is it true that Ian Beale is a huge fan of the Stones Roses?

  • @studas2011 The artwork is called Bye Bye Badman by John Squire. The lemons are said to be a defence against the mace gas used against protesters 1968, France. If I'm right : )

  • @Kelly14UK That's right. The student rioters in 1968 used to suck on lemons to counteract the effects of the tear gas used by the French police.

  • @Kelly14UK - yep, i remember reading it in melody maker years back...

  • years will pass but this song will be always one of the greatest ever written.

  • lovely song

pretty ill album cover as well

  • @wtfEPILOGUE

    ill?

  • @wtfEPILOGUE Waterfall is my favourite piece of art work on a Roses track.

  • my favourite guitar riff at the end

  • this song is jjust beastly

  • I can remember buying the LP when it came out, listening to it was like being hit by a fookin' 40 ton truck straight to the central nervous system, golden days.......

  • i wonder if this song is about their previous manager who fucked them over.

  • @reevy The song is actually about the 1968 Paris student riots..."Chokey, smokey air In this citrus sucking sunshine " is a reference to the lemons that students sucked to counter the effects of tear gas and of course there are more obvious lines "I'm throwing stones at you..."

  • @reevy it wasnt their manager, it was silvertone records who screwed the roses.

  • this is bliss ... still after all these years, nothing comes close..

  • oh my - this brings back so many memories - loved loved loved the Stone Roses and one of my fave songs..... :)

  • For me, it dont get much better

  • this and sally cinamon- proper summertime tunes...a soundtrack to my school holidays..nostalgia eh it can be a bit depressing...one minute you're listening to 'this is the one' n having a laugh- the next you're worried about the mortgage...Ian Brown is king

  • viva la roses

  • Another nice tune, im only getting into stone roses music but the songs I have heard so far are unreal, they are all amazing! :P

  • I was Lucky, I got this in the mid 90's living in Texas. Between The Roses, Smiths , and Joy Division, I considered Manchester my 2nd Home

  • Choke me smoke the air, in this citrus sucking sunshine, I don't care, you're not all there...

  • This is one of their best ever songs... love the lyrics .. surpassed only by i am the resurrection which has the best guitar instrumental in any song with freebird lynard skynard a very close second

  • Comment removed

  • @paddybhoy73 They were sucking the lemons not rubbing them in their eyes, that would have just made things worse!

  • @joa07caj hahahaha, i dont think sticking lemons in your eyes would help!

  • @joa07caj got it mixed up.

  • @paddybhoy73 shut up

  • @jamhols or what?

  • Holy shit this is good....

  • They Were The Best Band In The World :D.......Shame I Wasnt Born Or Around At The Time I Would Have Loved To See Them :( =] . Oh Well I Met Ian Brown And A Few Day Later I See Him Again And He Remembers Me & Thats Good Enough 4 Me :D. xxx

  • 14 when this album came out, 34 now and still captivated by it and anything the Roses did. Shame Squire + Brown loath each other, just think what they could have come out with in the intervening years. 2 albums of unbelievable quality.

  • it's a shame they never played this song live :(

  • @Wootlol200

There are several layers of guitar in there so no hope of live performance. I think this is the only version in existence but it's pretty much perfect..

  • @mingmongmang 1 they did it live perfectly convincingly at blackpool and spike island

2 there is another version on the complete stone roses, a really good demo

  • yet another top tune from the roses! they remind me of george best. werent around for that long but produced moments that will never be forgotten

  • @shebangsthedrums89 ..thats a quality comment...too true...

  • @shebangsthedrums89 i get what ur saying bud....but george best played for man u for 11 years lol

  • i wasn't around for any of this. i was i was born way earlier to be around for the best music :)

  • 1990 , twas a good year!

  • Ian brown the poet the legend the light the stone roses.

  • brilliant

  • my god. indies elite

  • What a song..my favourite Roses track.Ian Brown's vocals are great in this.

  • 0:48 - 1:02

    Perfection.

  • ''every back bone and heart you break will still come back for more, submission ends it all.'' couldn't agree more.

  • a wasnt there... so gt it up yeez haha..

  • i love stone roses their music makes me happy :) p.s john squire is cool

  • Squire is the ultimate guitar hero.

  • Sorry for being one of the sheep, perhaps you're an elitist, and when a band starts to gain a big following you look down on people who have subsequently become aware of them because they are "your band' and eveyone's spoilt i for you, Stinking thinking mate, not good.

  • I was a toddler back in their day... but I think this was the best band ever.

  • @9wolfy9 Yea dude don't get so upset over Hipsters. They think since there music is so "unique" that it should be there own. Lets just enjoy the music.

  • arggh! damnit why was I born in 1985 and not 1970 or something. missed all the best music :(

  • no you are listening to it which is awesome.

I was born in73 but you still have to make an effort!!!

  • Favorite stone roses song by far. Feels like a riot, you know?

  • Good fucking song. Sounds subtle and beautiful, but really is about students rioting against the police. Excellent albums.

  • *Album

  • The Smiths and The Stone Roses shone over the 80's. Thank God they existed.

And for now well... keep trying I guess...

  • Comment removed

  • well, I am from Brazil and down here Smiths are so popular... The Stone Roses are not at all..... Smiths and Morrissey are still nowadays in radio stations sometimes...

  • Comment removed

  • NO MAN...i just said so... i do like stone roses much more than the smiths....

  • yeah, isnt that in the south? im a really big fan of Blur, but The Stone Roses as well

  • God if everyone who said they were at Blackpool was really there it would have been the size of wembley stadium!!!!!!!!!!!

  • True. But I still have the ticket stub. I knew this was something special. My proof that that I'm not lying. I don't run into a lot of others that say they were there. I went with only seven others but knew a lot of people there; mainly locals.

  • Place was rammed tho....sadly its from watching the footage that I know. Wish I had been there.

    Best mate was at Spike...

& this lot could still sell Wembley out 10x over.

    best of the best...

  • Comment removed

  • hows this for a plan... as there are NO good bands left in England after Oasis split, I rekon John Squire puts down the paintbrush and replaces Noel Gallgher, and Noel Joins Ian Mani n Remi. That way we get a good band back instead of losing 1... nice idea anyway :)

  • i doubt squire will and i know noels dream would be to join the stone roses but ian brown said over my dead body a reunion

  • Matey`s spelt 'MATEY' chummy, if we`re all going to start correcting each another on small points. : )

  • 43 thousand views, bout half of them are mine :s sorry guys :p

  • Just buy the album dude.

  • I have it, but it's not on teh computer, and youtube's easier than going to get it, and wait for it to load up ! XD I'ma cool dude innit :p

  • Oh OK. Yeah, anyone who gives Stone Roses a go is a cool person in my book.

  • The incredible thing is that so many years after their last album we are still loving their work. I believe we will still be talking about the stone roses a decade from now. Ian, Alan, Gary, and John; you guys really touched on something. You were something!

  • Yes I agree.. 'vomitallldeals' is talking shite. Don't forget the Roses only had one guitar so it would sound shite if Squire spent all his time noodling with scales I.E: The second coming!

  • John Squire is one of the best guitarists ever

  • go fuck yourself you cunt, you know nothing

  • that pompus prick who you repsponded to needs to get his head out of his arse, like he could do better than john squire.

  • Oasis seemed to get all the credit tho....But Musicly the Roses are alot Better

  • Without a doubt

  • You've been bought and paid

    You're a whore and a slave

    Your dark star holy shrine

Come taste the end your mine

  • So it is!

  • IMHO one of the best tracks off one of the best albums in the history of modern music. I will NEVER tire of listening to this for as long as my ears continue to function :-)

If only they'd do the honourable thing and get back together and tour- I never got to see them live :-(

Highly unlikely, I know, but I'm allowed to dream aren't I?

  • You've been bought and paid

    You're a whore and a slave

Your dock's not a holy shrine

Come taste the end, you're mine.
