destinytears, to DESIGN a costume doesn't always mean to MAKE A COSTUME FROM SCRATCH, in order to BUY the right clothes for a character, you must DESIGN the whole look of it. You don't just go out and buy stuff. That's why "The Devil Wears Prada" is fairly nominated. It's weird in the Oscars to have a "bought clothes" nominee but it isn't impossible.
I didn´t mean to offend anyone, I just think they should give another name to this award. I understand that it is very difficult to buy the right clothes for the right character and that in The Devil Wears Prada you have great choices in terms of character styles(Miranda with her nore classic styles, emily wearing designs from the more underground designers)
And i continue 2 think that the queen hs better costumes. Specially in giving a style that evolves through the film 2 each character
Actually, in the Costume Designers Guild Awards (every Guild has awards, not only the Actors Guild), there's a special category for CONTEMPORARY costume design, one for PERIOD pieces and one for FANTASY costume design. "The Queen" won in Contemporary C.D .while "The Devil Wears Prada" got a nom there. And "Marie Antoinette", "Curse of the..." and "Dreamgirls" got nods in Period C.D.
I feel very strongly about "Curse". It's one of my favorites. We don't often see those kinds of clothes in film- the period, the station of the characters involved all combined for such incredible potential, and the designer hit it out of the park. Marie Antoinette was lovely, but I agree also about "The Queen"- there's something to be said about understated elegance.
is the music from "Narnia"? =]
